Um...this is just a thought I had when I was trying to write another chapter for Rebirth and I thought it might make a good story but I'm not sure so I'm asking for your opinion, that means I want you to write a review...please

Oh btw, I do not own Sailor Moon.

"It wasn't supposed to be this way." She whispered, the wind capturing her words silencing them and carrying them away.

The slowly sinking sun set the sky ablaze, in beautiful patterns of fiery red and mellow orange. Wispy clouds floated serenely across the sky reflecting the light and taking on its colors. A small breeze stirred up the fallen leaves swirling them about in the air and then dropping them in nature's version of ring-around-the-rosy. Birds sang throughout the forest and the late summer insects' buzzed quietly. A winding dirt path ran through the forest leading to a long staircase. Nestled in the hills above the forest in a small clearing was a small Shinto Shrine. The courtyard meticulously swept and the grounds free of leaves. A young woman with long black hair sat on the steps of the shrine. Her robes gathered around her she leaned her head against the pillar of the gate and sighed, her melancholy violet eyes watching the sun sink into the horizon.

"Rei!" A voice called from inside the shrine.

Rei looked towards the shrine and stood up. She walked towards the shrine obeying the summons of the voice. Taking off her sandals, she slid the screen open and walked in. The old floorboards creaked as she walked into her Grandpa's office. He looked up at her when she entered and bowed. She sat on the floor looking across the table at her grandpa's impassive face.

"Grandpa," she said softly.
"Rei, my dear grand daughter." He replied in a fatherly voice.
Rei's eyes showed confusion at her grandpa's tone.
"Rei, I know that you love this shrine because it has been your home," He said plainly, "and I know that you would never harm it, but lately I've seen a look in your eyes." He sighed, "A longing, I know this look because I saw it in your mother when she was your age, you are tired of the seclusion of our world away from civilization. I can see that you want to know more of what is out there and you want to see it first hand not in some book that you read or pictures that I show you."
"Grandpa?" Rei questioned.
He sighed, "Rei I want you to go out and see the world, I want you to leave the shrine."
"Grandpa I won't leave you alone." She said fiercely.
He laughed, "I've survived well enough before you came here." His voice became serious, "Rei, I don't want to make this a command but if I must. Rei, I want you to leave the shrine on a pilgrimage."
Rei opened her mouth to speak but closed it. She lowered her eyes and sighed, "Where will I go Grandpa?" she asked.
"I've arranged for you to stay at a school which you will attend."
She stood up, bowed to him, and started to walk out.
"Rei," she stopped listening, "When you are out there do not forget where you came from and who you are."
She bowed her head for a moment and then left the room.
