Usagi was three. But she felt like such an adult. Her mother counted on her to get her new baby brother to stop crying. It was really amazing how she did it. All she had to do was hold little Shingo and sing to him, and right away he started to smile. Usagi loved him so much, even when he was wailing. She knew he was only trying to tell them what he needed. She remembered when she couldn't talk well enough, and her parents were always so confused. She remembered being so frustrated.

So when they were sitting in their seats on the plane and Shingo started to cry they turned to her, which made her feel so needed and important. What would they do without her? She reached over and took Shingo in her arms. He wiggled and cried, then saw her face and stopped. That was all it took, being held by her. A young woman sitting by them with light brown hair and dark eyes saw and commented on how amazing it was. She said she was expecting soon. Her name was Angela she said. She was going to Tokyo to visit her sister who had moved there. She was very pretty, and anyone could tell, was very happy.

Usagi handed Shingo back to her mother, who put him back into his seat properly. Usagi was given some paper and crayons to pass the time on the flight. It was quite boring for her, but she loved to look out the window at the clouds and ocean. When they were over land it was the best, she could see all the tiny things. Usagi drew pictures of what she saw out her little window. Her parents let her sit there this time. They said she was grown up enough not to be scared of it. And she wasn't.

Usagi was just finishing up her picture of the coast line, they were near their destination, when she heard shouting. There was a man standing in the alse yelling. Usagi couldn't see him, but he had a deep voice so she knew it was a man. She got a bit scared and put away her crayons, making sure it was all neat. When Usagi was nervous she liked to clean things, it helped her calm down. But after she was all done the man was still yelling, and now more people were yelling, some screaming. It was worrying her very much.

"Mama? What's going on?"Usagi asked turning to her mother.

"Nothing dear, someone's just a bit upset that's all. Stay over here by the window. Keep Shingo quite for me alright?" Usagi nodded yes, but she could see worry in her mother's face. Usagi bent over and looked at her father. He had a funny look on his face, she never saw it before. He looked scared, but angry too. Something was going on.

Then Usagi saw the man, he had dark hair. He looked dirty. That was the main thing that came into her mind. He was old also. His clothes were all wrinkled and old looking. The one thing that made Usagi feel better was his eyes. They were a light grey, but that didn't really matter. The fact was, Usagi could see his eyes were soft and kind. So it didn't make sense to her why he was so upset. He was walked towards where they were sitting. The man was holding something in his hand, it was shiny and silver. Usagi had seen movies, she knew it was a gun, and guns were bad.
