"Tvs, Radios, and Text via book or newspaper... when those are around..."
My fingers drum on my desk as I gently scroll through my computer. Within are dozens of research notes.
A dim lightly flickering bulb sways overhead, casting light around my workstation.
"Well... this is... a thing..." I quietly mutter.
I am within a concrete box. That's the best way to describe it.
Where I am sat, in a fairly comfortable chair, is a large desk, a computer that looks like it had been taken directly from someone's gamer set up, and a keyboard and mouse which glows dimly. A computer with an entire separate container for memory sits under the desk, behind me a large chemistry set slowly pumps fluid throughout its many tubes and beakers.
My name is Xander Welsh. Or, at the very least, it is now.
I was nothing more than a shut in loser who liked to read fanfiction, that, of course, changed four weeks ago when I was dragged from my own world, given a new body, a gamer system, and placed in a new world.
My gamer system is quite interesting.
It's based entirely on me being a 'villain'.
This is my 'villainous lair'.
I am the 'Mad Scientist'. An archetype that ranges from alchemy and plagues to cloning and robotics.
Though, I suppose I'm still a little 'new' at this. After all, I've only been 'granted' a single skill.
Skills:
Alchemy: (Adept) {Common}
You are no stranger to toiling over a cauldron and manufacturing salves and potions. It's just that... sometimes the effects aren't exactly what you want.
You know Uncommon 'Worldly Alchemical Concoctions'.
Alchemical concoctions are 25% more powerful than normal.
Detremental Side Effects on your Alchemical Items are 25% weaker.
You may perform alchemy 5% faster than normal.
The system functions quite simply. let me start from the beginning. One month ago, the system 'invested' in me, granting me one hundred thousand Poke to start off in this world.
Oh, that reminds me... I was placed in a world with dragons, powerful psychics, and literal gods.
Pokémon.
Anyways, back onto currency, for reference, one 'Poke' with the wiggly 'e' is roughly worth one dollar.
Yes, that's right, a poke ball is worth two hundred dollars. Showing just how lucrative and expensive being a Pokémon trainer is.
Anyways, I used said money to dig a hole, fill it with concrete, and made myself a little ten by fifteen foot bunker with some good ventilation, slapped a metal door disguised as a rock, and closed myself inside.
Thirty nine hundred to dig the hole, five thousand for the concrete walls, roof, and the door, another five thousand for some electrical work, twenty thousand for the items inside of the bunker, my bed, the air pump, the alchemy set and my computer. After that I started getting a little crazy with my spending.
A large portion of the remaining money, sixty thousand, went towards an extra room. A five foot by five foot magical green house.
It takes a lot of electricity, but it speeds along the growth of plants and perfectly nurtures them without my assistance.
My remaining six thousand or so is being saved for one thing...
Bills.
My system gives me electricity in the middle of nowhere, but I have to pay for it.
Also, MREs and bottled water.
Three MRES, three bottled of water, comes out to roughly eight dollars per day.
Considering the average electricity and internet connection bills are roughly two hundred together- for a full house- I'm expecting to have a cost of roughly five hundred per month in bills.
Of course, it's not as if my money will simply dry up in the coming months...
I look to a case of vials filled with red liquid.
They are sat within cases that hold six vials each, stacked easily atop each over. Looking over the pile, there must be at least one hundred in all, probably nearing one hundred and fifty
Least Healing Elixer: {Common}
A fluid made from an Oran Berry, its healing factor was enhanced through alchemy causing it to be a much better medicine than the berry itself, however, as a result of the alchemical process, it was rendered quite strong smelling and unpleasant to use.
Heals light wounds over the course of 600 seconds.
The user of this item has a 15% chance of gaining the 'Nausea' debuff for an hour. (48 Minutes)
Over the course of a month, I have made one hundred and fifty of these.
Why?
*Ping*
Your monthly status has been released.
Ohohoh what I have been waiting for!
I strut back over to my computer and sit down in my nice chair.
A new window opens, the executable being aptly named ' '.

I let out a low whistle at the monthly cost.
'Fuck. That's a lot. Unless I make some money fast I won't have power the month after next.'
Would you like to sell products you have created?
I double click the 'yes' option that appears beneath the question.
Products:
Least Healing Elixer:
Overview: The side effect is extremely detrimental when they occur, yet it works well enough when used in 'safe' settings, you'll be getting a decent price with that in mind. Its current effect is a little under the standard potion patented by Silph-Co
Sell Price: 20 Poke per Elixer.
With some quick math I make a discovery.
'Fuuuuuuck I'm in the red.'
I shake my head and let out a sigh, clicking 'Sell all' and 'Pay Bills'
Current Wealth: 6026 Poke
It might look like I have more money, but it hasn't calculated the price to stay alive throughout the month which is closer to three hundred than two hundred.
I cup my chin and let out a low hum.
But this isn't exactly bad per say...
I could probably turn a profit.
I wasn't able to make potions the entire time.
The first week was set up. If I make potions all month, I'll make a profit.
The thing is... that's a lame way to make a profit.
But it's something I'll be forced to do I can't raise a pokemon as I am right now... and even if I could, the only one I could feasibly get right now would be a lame one.
The main thing I can focus on is my alchemy.
If I keep upgrading my alchemy, the weaker the side effects get. Soon they'll reach a point where they can be sold for even more money!
Alchemy Upgrade Quest 4:
"Potionseller I require your strongest potions." But he could not handle my potions.
Craft 100 Common Elixers: 0/100 [ ]
Craft 1 Uncommon Elixer: 0/1 [ ]
With my little growing room I can sustainably make about forty six potions a week... and I can do them in batches... plus I don't really need to babysit them.
I quiet scratch my chin and let out a low hum.
It's honestly not a bad life.
I wish I had enough money to make the food taste a little better though.

I let out a quiet sigh and shake my head.
Of course, I plan to eventually move onto better things, but currently my money is the big issue.
I've been studying a way to get around this, however.
Ohoho so much studying in my pass time.
The pokemon world is far larger than was shown in the games and anime.
There are many things I am looking over, but the main aspect I am studying?
Pokemon Genes.
Something only barely looked into in the games and animes... though I will admit, Pokemon Legends Arceus definitely explored them the most.
Shiny Pokemon. Alpha Pokemon. The king Gene- in which Pokemon are far larger than normal-. Pokemon with abnormal typing. The Pigmy gene, in which Pokemon are far smaller than normal.
There's a lot of nuances, but it's something that interests me deeply.
The fact that... technically... it may be possible to create an artificial 'legendary' out of a normal every day breed. None of that team rocket, create a clone from a legendary garbage.
Turning a Dragonite into a dragon slayer, a Magcargo into something that can burn a Moltres, a Garchomp which can counter a Groudon's earthquake with one of its own.
There's also bound to be some use in looking at evolutions that don't really... appear... anymore.
Why is Ursaring considered fully evolved in the anime and even here, yet Ursaluna exists? Why do people not know of Basculegion?
Considering my location- the Unova region, there's only one REAL pokemon that meets my standard for 'Legend Creation'.
It's an obscure line, one you probably wouldn't use in a casual playthrough, but one used quite a bit in competitive... chosen for the way it builds its armor.
Ferroseed. The thorn seed pokemon. A steel/grass type, primarily used to set up stealth rock and spikes.
They absorb minerals from rock by penetrating the walls of caves using their spikes, thus a Ferroseed who has grown up absorbing from ores will be FAR sturdier than those who were forced to stick with merely rock...
However, with the current system I have, I can buy items from other worlds entirely.
Mithril, Vibranium, Adamantine, so many magical ores and metals are sat just outside of my grasp.
Of course, I do want to try things like 'Cloning', 'Gene Splicing', 'Robot Pokemon' and all that jazz, but right now all I can do is grind my missions.
Hrn... I can't get my provisional pokemon license until I am fifteen... and my current body is aged at twelve. That gives me three more years to improve my craft!
Timeskip.
A man obscured by shadow frowns at the executive reporting to him.
"An influx of potions?"
"Yes, sir. The black market has been getting more potions from an unknown source. They simply pay them and the potions get teleported in. At first, the quality was low, there was a chance that they made the Pokémon sick, but... over the past year, the potions have improved drastically."
"Someone cracked Devon's secretive potion recipe?" The man questions.
"We don't believe so due to the difference in application and color." The blue haired man replies with a quiet head shake. "The increase in quality as of this month has been utterly incredible."
"Are you saying that they have discovered a new method to potion creation?"
"We believe so, Giovanni." The man nods.
"Interesting." The man with short black hair smirks. "What can you tell me of the seller?"
"We, even with our advanced tracking have found little on the seller. We have tried tracking their payments with Porygon, yet not even that has worked. What we have found so far is that they simply go by 'X' and has so far come out with four potion variants. One simply named 'Least' and another called 'Lesser'."
"What can you tell me of the strength of these potions?" The black haired man demands.
"Well, firstly, medicine created by 'X' is meant to be drunk, not sprayed onto wounds. Roughly a year ago, 'Least' was around two thirds the potency of a basic Devon Corporation potion, roughly one in five having the side effect of making the Pokémon in question nauseous for about an hour, this was when 'X' was still making their presence known, almost exclusively making these 'Least' potions, and very rarely making a 'Lesser' variant, something around one and a half times as strong as a normal Devon potion, yet almost always causing the Pokémon in question incredible burning discomfort due to the concentration of the medicine."
"But it has changed?"
"It has." The blue haired man nods. "As of this batch, Least is equivalent to normal potions and it has completely lost its original side effect of nausea. Lesser is around twice as powerful as normal potions and they no longer irritate the wounds."
"Hn... you said four earlier."
"I did, sir. This month he has released very few vials of what he labeled as 'Least Experiment 1A.' And 'Least Experiment 1B'. These two variants of the least potions have noticeable improvements, the first being roughly twenty percent stronger with no downsides, while the second approaches the effects of his 'Lesser' potions... with the caveat that they make anything other than the heartiest pokemon drunk for about an hour, then afterwards, the hangover sets in for around twice this time."
"It... makes pokemon drunk?" The leader of Team Rocket mutters in quiet confusion.
"It is due to these side effects on X's creations those in the underworld are beginning to call them the 'Maddened Alchemist'. His products are effective, yet you may get more than you bargain for... at least until he perfects his recipes."
"The drunken aspect of this new potion could be of some use to us. Invest more resources into finding X. I want him on my payroll, Archer."
"Yes sir. We will get on it right away." The blue haired man nods respectfully.
I stretch my arms over my head and let out a quiet yawn.
Life's good.

I'd say it's about time I make my debut to the world at large.
"Sir! We have made contact with the mysterious X!"
"Very good, Archer." The black haired man smirks as a large mountain-lion like cat lets out a quiet yowl.
"Peeeeersian."
"He has shown interest in making trades with us directly, in particular, his 'Chemical X'. The substance potent enough to render a man inebriated with a single drop."
"Oh? that is very good." The leader smirks. "Has he made his position regarding joining Team Rocket known?"
"He has... regretfully he wishes to remain on his own for a bit longer, but he said that our organization is one of the ones he fully considered joining." Archer informs.
"Is he working alone?" The boss mutters.
"It seems so, Sir." The blue haired executive nods.
"Interesting. Very well, continue to do business. His wares are far cheaper than those bought from the Devon corporation... in addition, they are untraceable. I want this scientist on my side. Start probing for his interests. I want to make him a deal too good to refuse. Gain as much of this new chemical as you can. We can weaponize it to make our missions far easier."
"Yes sir." The man salutes.

'oh? That's a little pocket change.'
The only problem is that I'm losing five hundred poke per message I send Team Rocket... all so they don't track me.
But beyond that?
I'm steadily growing more and more... perhaps it's time that I begin my side project.
The creation of my perfect partner Pokémon.
My base has improved in size, another greenhouse room has appeared... yet unlike the first, this one has numerous cages within it, inside each and every one of the twenty small bird cages is something that looks like a cat, but it's not... they are Cacti.
Those cacti are the things that have been giving me my new potion ingredients. The flowers they create improve the quality of potions slightly, and the sap improves them massively... at the cost of making even an adult man drunk with just a drop.
'what... is this?'
I stare down at a small rat made of vines.
I have been given a new 'focus' as a mad scientist recently... and this is a direct cause of that.
Genetics. Plus another thing I've gotten recently.
I figured out I could buy 'specialties' from the system shop...
I just got the 'Horticulturist' quality... now, a Horticulturist is a special type of alchemist from the pathfinder tabletop system which can summon plants to do their bidding.
They gain a plant familiar, and eventually even the ability to speak with plants.
I thought the latter part would be useful for me considering that'd cover one eighteenth of my ability to speak with pokemon... but the prior part may be even better.
These plants they summon are actually plant creatures.
They follow my will to a T, and they are produced from seeds which I can create alchemically.
Alchemically.
You know, the thing that I am a literal god at.

I need to test these seeds...
I silently observe from a miniature drone as a wasp the size of a horse made of bark and vine wails on a horde of patrat, single swings of its large limbs send the poor rats flipping through the air, the droning of its wings echoing throughout the forest
One of the brave rats turn around and lunge for the insect creature, its jaws opening wide as dark energy coats its teeth.
It bites the plant, rending off a small portion of the wasp's front limb off.
It is swatted away for its efforts as the wound that seeps sap begins to rapidly heal, vines knitting back together as moss fills the wound.
The insect tilts its head back and wails, causing large thick bushes of briars to shoot from the ground, creating a wall that curves around the front of the patrat, sealing off their only escape route.
The insect suddenly pauses, then rapidly decays into mulch.
Two minutes and twenty one seconds exactly... just like all the other tests.
These beasts can only remain in this world for two minutes and twenty one seconds... for now.
Another year and a half to perfect my craft.
'To be expected of someone as great as myself.' I mentally hum as I look over the card in my hand.

With this... I am fully able to have my own pokemon.
It is time to build my glorious team.
And... for my starting member... it's about time I spend some money on a lab.
With a wave of my hand, a hallway is dug out, the walls becoming concrete, hanging lights trailing the ceiling as I force the walkway downwards.
I flatten the hallway after a while and continue stretching it, pipes begin to follow along the ceiling as I expand the hallway further and further.
An airlock forms behind me as I begin expanding this section of hallway into a fairly large room.
A single large glass tank appears, dozens of meters line the bottom.
A grin crosses my face.
'Now I just need to alchemically create some tank fluid and get started on my creations!'
Genetics: (Novice) (Uncommon)
You are now capable of understanding the complex world of Pokémon Genetics. You can slowly but surely decipher the code of life that is Pokémon.
You may perform Genetic alteration and creation 10% faster than normal.
Maybe I should... grind this a little bit before I create my own starter pokemon...
Besides, this expansion has cost me quite a bit... and my bills will certainly increase.
Maybe I should focus on getting some form of generator and power it via electric types.
I'd like to have a starter before that, because if my little generator Pokémon revolt, I'm done for.
Genetics Upgrade Quest 1:
Creating life, the mad scientist's bread and butter. Make sure you scream 'IT'S ALIVE' after every successful experiment. It's your god-given right.
Objective:
Study the Genetics of a sole pokemon for 40 Hours.
I let out a low hum.
"Alright, let's get to work, then."
A creature has fully formed within the artificial womb of my large glass tube, it is purple in color with a cream underbelly.
I wipe my eye tiredly, there are bags under my eyes.
The liquid drains as the pokemon cracks its eyes open.
As the liquid finishes draining, the front of the tube opens.
I bounce a red and white sphere against the head of the pokemon, causing it to transform into a red light and get sucked inside.
The ball jiggles slightly but eventually stops and lets out a low click, signifying my capture.
My first living product.
The top percentage of Rattata.
That that, Youngster Joey. Little bitch.
My Rattata is quite special. Firstly, it is twice the size of a normal Rattata and in addition it is far more durable, stronger, and faster.
I've identified the alpha gene, in addition to a concoction of other information on the rat.
I've reverted this Rattata to more of a 'primal' variant. That's where a majority of the size comes from, the alpha gene is merely an added bonus.
If I had to compare it to the in-game pokemon stats... this Rattata has thirty one Ivs in all stats except maybe special attack.
But, Rattata was never a special attacker so that doesn't really matter.
Now... to sell it to Team Rocket!
The only issue is that I'm not too sure how much they'd pay for this bad boy.
*This is where I stopped writing*
Hey all, this is just a little something that uses something similar to the 'Villainous System' from chapter 34. I hope you enjoyed it! Anyways, I'll see you all later.
