I run my rough hand over her soft cheek, brushing aside a lock of hair that had fallen over her angelic face, during her peaceful slumber.
She begins to shake from the cold of the air conditioning, so I pull the covers up over her, tucking her in tightly. She can't afford to catch cold, especially because tomorrow is her first day of kindergarten.
Its amazing to me that my 4.6 pound baby girl is now four and ready to start kindergarten. She was so tiny when she was born. She was two months early, but she is a fighter just like her mother, and we both knew she would make it.
She begins to mumble in her sleep, and I can barely make out what she is saying with her sweet voice, "Uncle Nicky, catch the piggy." I can't help but laugh. She always seems to make me laugh whether she is awake or asleep.
Suddenly, I feel a hand on my shoulder and I jump a little from the unexpectedness of the touch.
"Come to bed honey, she's not the only one with a big day tomorrow." Sara softly whispers to me.
"Ok, one second." I lean in and kiss Kylie on the cheek and say, "Sweet dreams baby girl." And then I turn to her mother and place a kiss on her cheek. She smiles at me with her large gap toothed grin that I love so much.
"Come to bed Grissom tomorrow will be an exciting day for all of us." She grabs me by the hand and leads me across the hall and into our room, as I follow her like a puppy. I would follow her to the ends of the earth.
