Mercuria: How WAS the world created? Hmm ... maybe I have the answer.
*********

Darkness?
No
because before there was light
there was no darkness
and before there was something
there wasn't nothing
there was

The swirling stars
dip and twist
dancing the cosmic ballet
but they are not there
because I am not there
A volcano erupts
but I have not seen it
I did not live it
Maybe you dreamed it?

The absence of distinction
of color
of pleasure
of music
and then
I flicker into existence
a butterfly flutter
a tickling of senses
And there is the light
and with it comes shadows
The gift with the curse
And it must be of my own design
because before I came into being
I knew not
so there was not

As a child
I am the wide-eyed wanderer
seeing the world through a kaleidoscope
And it is a kaleidoscope
The tree falls in the forest
but I do not hear it
so it does not fall
Perhaps you imagined it?

Growing up
the world grows with me
Beauty becomes real
reality becomes my illusion
no longer is life
the playground of my youth
but filled with evil
And I must have brought it
because before I was
it was not

The lines shimmer and blur
As I lose myself
all is lost
only to be found again
in the shallow depth of the mirror
When I need no savior
there is no savior
When I cannot see the sunshine
it does not exist
It ceases to be
until I have need of it
until I want it
And when I do
life is my mirror again

When I die
it will all die with me
As I lay me down to sleep
creation joins me in my crypt
I will slip out of time
out of sight
out of my mind
And in that instant
there will be nothing
or rather
there will be

Mercuria: Now, before anyone gets offended or thinks "gee, what an egocentric person", let me assure you that I do not think I'm god. This is ... well, I see this poem my way, you see it yours ... I welcome critique as long as it has to do with the structure and/or grammar of the poem.
