Unforgotten moments ~*~*~*~*~*~ Disclaimer: I do not own Rurouni Kenshin.

Bleep, Bleep, Bleep the alarm clock went. Rei winced as he sat up. One week ago Rei had taken Unmei to a jewelry store for her to pick out her birthday present. They walked in and Boom! Boom! Both him and his love were shot. They didn't know that the very same jewelry store was going to be robbed. Unmei died in Rei's arms. They were going to be married in three months. It's all my fault, Rei thought; She died because I brought her there.

"K'so", Rei said as he looked around. He had forgotten how much it hurt to think about her. Rei pulled his long read hair back into a ponytail and pulled a T-shirt over his jeans. His violet eyes watered when he remembered how Unmei used to tease him about how he always wore a T-shirt and jeans. Rei went outside to his black motorcycle and headed down the street.

When Rei got to his destination he entered the building he hadn't been in since last week. The police headquarters.

"You look like hell." Rei's partner Ken said. "Yeah ,well..", was Rei's only response. "They gave you two weeks off, you shouldn't be here.", said Ken seriously. "I need to be here. What else could I be doing?-Don't answer that"., Rei put in after he saw the smirk on Ken's face. "So you're healed?" "What made you think that? I can still work can't I?" "Seriously, you really need to get a hobby" Ken said. Suddenly his friends face turned pale. "Umm.you're bleeding."

Truthfully Rei hadn't noticed in the longest conversation of the week that his wound had bled through his shirt and now there was a large bloody spot on his shirt. "Maybe you shouldn't work. Come on. Let's go put some bandages on that." Ken said. Ken didn't like the way his friend looked. Rei was ghostly pale, his lips were blue and his violet eyes lost all their warmth. The whiteness of his skin made the cross shaped scar on his cheek standout. Suddenly Rei collapsed against the wall. "Are you alright?" Ken asked his friend with concern. "I'm just tired," Rei said. Ken could tell the he wasn't telling the truth. Rei tried and tried but he couldn't lift his weight from where he had collapsed. Ken picked up Rei and was surprised. Rei was only 5'3 and weighed around 125 pounds, but when Ken picked him up he had to weigh at least 30 pounds less. To Ken he was feather light.

"When was the last time you ate?" Ken asked Rei seriously. ".When I went out to dinner with you and your wife." Rei answered weakly. The last time Rei went to dinner with Shizen and him was . "That was 3 days ago! And you barely touched your food!!!" Ken yelled. "3 days?" Rei asked Ken. Ken could barely even hear Rei. The little color that was in Rei's face was fading and he was turning an odd shade of gray. " Are you alright?" Ken asked. "I'm so tired." and with that Rei fell unconscious. "Rei no baka. Forgot to eat?" Ken said seriously concerned with his friend. Ken put Rei in the back seat of his car and drove him away.
