When we stepped off that elevator, life began anew. There were no
memories, no remembered dreams. Our memories began that second. I might
as well have been born that second for all that I knew.
Yet, I had the knowledge of language, or walking. Knowledge of
things that had I been born then, I would not have known.
I gazed through my opalescent helmet at my surroundings. We were in
an airtight steel room with a thick paned window showing a view of a dark
cavern.
"Welcome," came a voice behind my group and I. We slowly turned from
the window to face the source of the voice.
Standing behind us was a nondescript looking person. It was female,
although she was so plain it would not have mattered either way. She had
light blonde hair and pale blue eyes. There was a matronly air about her
and I felt a sense of security with her being so near. Her voice provoked
feelings of protection.
"You probably have no idea why you are here, or even where here is.
You don't even know your name. You are a group selected to give your time
in the mines. While you are here you will be mining cinitrol to use as a
power supply on the colonies. Right now you are a thousand miles under the
surface of what was once known as Earth. When you have served the rest of
your time, you will be returned to the colonies and your memory will be
restored.
Everyone nodded complacently. They had not the memories to argue.
"Good, now my name is Lucrezia. If you ever have need of me, you can
contact me through your links. Now, if you look out that window, you can
see the chemical cinitrol." She pointed towards a fissure in the cavern
wall and a collective gasp arose from my group.
It was beautiful. It seemed to be a glowing mass of purple that
changed color to blue periodically. One was put in the mind of the aurora
borealis seen in the textbooks about the living days of earth. But at the
same time it was beautiful, it was eerie. Like it had a life of its own.
"Yes, it's pretty," Lucrezia said wryly. "Now, follow the corridor
until you find a room that has the number on your nameplate. Meet here
again in the morning for instructions." With that said, she strode from
the room down an opposite hallway.
The group stood in the room for a couple of minutes. Then, one by
one, they left down the hallway. I fell into about the middle of the line.
My room was M14 and judging by my nameplate, my name was Relena
Dorlian.
Disclaimer: I do not own Gundam Wing or any of its characters.
This story arose from a dream I had. I decided to make it into a novel. However, I'm placing it in Gundam to see what kind of reaction it gets. So, in other words, your reviews will be most helpful. For those of you wondering, I am still working on Stopping Time. However, due to school and lack of inspiration, it is slow in the coming. I am currently in the middle of writing the next chapter for it. As for Will You Let Me Be Your Hero, I am stopping work altogether on that fiction. I do not like the way it is going and I don't wish to continue writing it. I'm sorry if this upsets anyone. It will be removed from fanfiction.net in the next few days, as soon as I can load a backup.
Thanks for reading!
