Authors note: This is just something that I really wanted to
happen. Yes, I'm such a loser that as I was watching the end of
the "Counteragent" episode, I was shouting "Vaughn, walk faster
damn it! Walk faster!" So this is what I think *should* have
happened. Enjoy!

"Excuse me." Vaughn said to agent Kendall. Without even waiting for his reply, Vaughn headed after Sydney.
He saw her walking down the hall, incredibly fast. He was struggling to keep up with her. He turned a corner and saw her waiting at the elevator. He walked up to her and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Sydney." He said softly.
She flinched slightly at his touch, but turned around when she recognized his voice. Her eyes were watery. She was crying, or about to. She had a look of intense pain on her face, but when she faced Vaughn, she smiled, trying not to look upset, for his benefit.
"What?" she asked politely.
Vaughn was concerned with her tears, but he smiled anyway.
"I know I don't have to, but I want to tell you." Vaughn started.
"No, really, I don't want to hear this." Sydney said, not wanting to hear what she was missing.
"Please, just hear me out." Vaughn paused, waiting for Sydney to object. When she didn't he continued. "What I meant to say was that Alice and I have a lot of history that we're trying to work through, but just so she can move on." Vaughn finished.
"What?" Syndey asked, not expecting him to say that.
"When we broke up, there was a lot between us that wasn't settled, and she couldn't move on. When we met at that party, we talked, and I realized that I owed it to her to help her move on." Vaughn clarified.
"Oh." Sydney said, feeling embarrassed that she hadn't given him a real chance to explain, but overwhelmingly relieved. "And you?" she asked.
"What about me?"
"Have you moved on?" she asked.
"I moved on along time ago." Vaughn said smiling.
Sydney returned his smile.
"So, I just wanted you to know that." Vaughn said, knowing that this really wasn't the place to say anything more.
"Thanks." Sydney said.
Vaughn nodded and started to walk away. The elevator beeped open, and he assumed she got in.
"Vaughn." Sydney's voice came from behind him.
He spun around. "Yeah?"
"Why?" she asked him.
"Why what?"
"Why did you want me to know that?" Sydney asked, knowing that it would be horrible if someone heard them, but she didn't care.
"Because I needed you to know that you're the only woman in my life." He said softly. "And there are a million other things that I want to say to you right now that I just can't. But someday, I will." He said even more quietly.
His intense look made a shiver go up Sydney's spine. She smiled and nodded as he turned away.
Vaughn was scared that he had said too much, and that he had the completely wrong idea. He turned and began to walk away, eyes downcast.
"Vaughn." Sydney said again.
Vaughn turned to look at her.
"Someday?" she asked, smiling a little.
"Yeah, someday." He replied, returning her smile. He watched her as she got into the elevator, and waited until the doors closed to walk away.
Someday he would be with her, and he'd tell her all the things that he couldn't now. Someday, he'd have that normal life with her, and someday, they'd be happy.
