That's it?

Ron swiftly walked along the crisp grass surrounding the lake. He'd spotted her over by one of the trees hanging over the lake.

Her hair was bushing around her head and her frail figure was curled up against the trunk of the tree, large book resting on her knees with her eyes flicking from line to line.

As he approached her he took a deep breath and took the final steps towards her, towering in front of her.

"Hey Hermione." Instead of his usual voice, this time his tone was something like a bad Mickey mouse impersonation, squeaky clean and high pitched.

She looked up at him and a small smile appeared at the corners of her lips.

"Hi Ron. What have you bee..."

"Hermione, we've been friends for a long time now..." Ron charged ahead, choosing not to pay any attention to what she was saying, he was nervous enough without having to listen to her talk, just yet. "And, I feel, that maybe, it's, ah, it's time to take our friendship to the next level." Hermione looked on at him expectantly. "Would you like to come with me to Hogsmeade next weekend?"

"OK." She answered meekly, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips, her eyes going back to the book.

"That's it?" Ron asked, amazed that she could be so unenthusiastic about something like this.

"Yes, that's it. What? Did you want me to go through the whole undying love declaration thing and about how lucky I am to have you? I didn't know you considered yourself such a catch Ron..." She said with a smirk. (A/N - I think he is quite the catch! LOLZ!!!)

"Now you just wait, I'm going out on a limb here and you..." Ron was furious, she was being completely typical of herself. Then, then she had the nerve to cut him off.....

"Oh, do be quiet Ron. I'm trying to read." Ron stared at her with mouth gaping, unable to believe quite what he was hearing. She looked back up at him, a question within her eyes and an innocent smile decorating her face. "Is there anything you want?"

Ron couldn't help it, he smiled. This girl was just something else, and that's why he was quite fond of her he concluded.

"Yes, actually." He bent down on his knees and brought his face close enough to his to feel her breath on his cheeks. "Do you think I may be able to kiss you?" He asked quietly.

A faint blush decorated her cheeks and she turned away slightly, taking a few sniffs.

"Not unless you do something about that breath of yours......"

No Smint. No Kiss.
