Harry watched Colin and Ginny sitting a chair on the other side of the common room. Somehow the strength that'd kept him from watching her was gone. His resistance was down. He couldn't pretend his love for her was nonexsistant.

I can't hide the way I feel
About you anymore

Harry watched as Ginny laughed. Colin was running his fingers through her hair and telling her something. Her whole face was lit up. Harry remembered when that perfect smile had been for him. He felt himself nearly cry.

I can't hold the hurt inside
Keep the pain out of my eyes
Anymore

As he remembered the days and weeks with Ginny, Harry felt a tear slip out of his eye and down his cheek. He remembered the times they'd spent together and the plans they'd had for their future.

My tears no longer waiting
My resistance ain't that strong
My mind keeps re-creating
A life with you alone

Harry saw Ginny's eyes lit up and her smile bright and wide. He knew he loved her, all the little things she did, the generosity and kindness of her ways. He couldn't hold back the surge of love he felt in his heart.

And I'm tired of pretending
I don't love you anymore

Harry knew he had to tell her. She had to know. Whether or not it mattered to her , he didn't care so much. So when Ginny said goodnight to Colin and headed for her dormitory, he waited by the staircase.

Let me make one more appeal
To show you how I feel about you

He stopped her by putting his hand on her shoulder. Ginny jumped and looked toward Harry. "Hi, Gin," Harry said haltingly. He knew she could see something in his eyes by the unreadable expression on her face.
"Yeah?" Ginny asked, not quite achieving the nonchalant air she was trying to put on.
"I just wanted you to know that I still love you," Harry said slowly and painfully. Suddenly he felt Colin's eyes on him. But he still couldn't deny his feelings.

Cause there's no one else, I swear,
Who holds a candle next to you

Suddenly Harry knew that he cared a lot about what it meant to Ginny. He needed her in his life. But it didn't seem to him that she cared much at all.

My heart can't stand the beating
Not having you to hold

Both Harry and Ginny stood there for what seemed like ages to Harry. He knew that whether she loved him or not he couldn't hide his love for her.

A small voice keeps repeating
Deep inside my soul
It says I can't keep pretending
I don't love you anymore

Ginny started to turn away and Harry knew he had to do something or nothing at all. He stood there battling with himself.

I've got to take a chance
Or let it pass by
If I expect to get on with my life

Harry watched Ginny go up the staircase, then went back to the chair where he'd been sitting. He knew she didn't care. He held her memory close one more time...

My tears no longer waiting
My resistance ain't that strong
My mind keeps re-creating a love
With you alone

and was about to let go forever when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned his head and his eyes met Ginny's for two seconds before her lips were pressed on his. "Oh, Harry, Harry," she cried, pulling away.

And I'm tired of pretending
I don't love you anymore

Ginny walked around the chair Harry was sitting in and sat down in his lap. Harry looked at her and pulled her close. Was she really his again?

Anymore

Ginny placed her lips on Harry's. The kiss was deep and passionate. Harry felt more love than he ever had for her when she said "I'll never leave you again."
