A/N: I think I wrote this poem after studying about the crusades in World History, but I think it's relevant to today's world as well, especially after September 11.
"And Which Way is Right?"
…And which way is right?
All around, people say they believe
claim to know, know that they hold the truth,
and what if others don't believe?
What if others claim to know the light?
And after the battle is done and lost,
Who won this fight?
And which way was right?
All around, the faithful come to war
They know, they know not what they speak,
Their enemies they have fought so far!
—do they know exactly why they fight?
Do they even stop to count the cost,
these faithful disciples of the light?
And who was right?
Around the world, the cannons ring
the voices shout, the hatred spreads
and is bred, and taught as a righteous thing;
Is this God's will, is this His light?
Jehovah's and Allah's children are lost,
do they even stop to count the cost?
A bitter tale re-enacted oft,
to show their own god's power and might.
…and is anyone right?
