feedback: PLEEEEAAASSSSSEEEEEE!!!
A/N: I know this one is *really* short... but it's been something I just needed to get off my chest.
He stood there. Frozen. The fiery rain kept crashing down around him - but he didn't notice. Neither did he feel the sparks that hit his skin occasionally. He was oblivious to everything in that moment. Only his eyes were fixed on the window in front of him.
It seemed like hell was breaking loose - only hell hadn't be so painful. That was if he could feel the pain right now. There was only numbness - great and all-consuming. It blocked out everything but what was happening right before his eyes.
Two people...
He heard an echo of what the Beast had said - "Do you really think she's safe with him?" When he was thrown over the roof top and hit the ground, a voice in his head repeated it over and over again. No matter how bloody and beat up he'd been, he *needed* to get to them immediately. He'd been afraid that the Beast might find them and Connor wouldn't be strong enough to protect her. But it wasn't the Beast he was facing now. It was just a feeling of emptiness.
His Cordelia and Connor...
Deep inside he tried to deny it. This couldn't be... It couldn't be the woman he'd fallen in love with and that had told him that she loved him back just some hours ago. He remembered her hand brushing over his cheek in a consoling gesture. Hands that were now... No, he couldn't follow that line of thought. Because if he did, the scene in front of him would become real. Caught up in his silent refusal to believe, he didn't even feel his heart shatter.
His Cordelia and Connor... together...
He wanted to scream but no sound escaped his throat. He wanted to close his eyes but he didn't have the strength to look away. He wanted to run but he couldn't move.
He just kept standing there. Frozen.
