Rei opened one eye as light streamed in through the window. The curtains were only closed halfway. He streached slightly twisting like a cat, and wrapped his arms around his lover, Kai. Kai snuggled into Rei's warmth and opened his eyes.
"Morning" Rei said smiling at him.
"Morning" Kai replied, and couldn't help smiling back.
It had been a year since the Russian tournement and Kai had started to let himself be human. Rei was living with Kai in his mansion, now that Kai's grandfather was gone, Kai appresiated the company.
'And' Rei reflected, 'If I never said yes to staying here, we never would have confessed our feelings to each other.'
After laying there, content in each others arms for a few more minutes, Kai and Rei decided to, although reluctantly, get up.
After they both showered, Rei made some coffee as Kai opened the curtains.
"Hey Rei" Kai called, opening the sliding glass door to the balcony.
"Yeah?" Rei questioned, walking out on the balcony handing a Kai a cup of coffee.
"Look" Kai said simply, gesturing out towards the sky.
Rei gasped as he saw a rainbow streaching out across the sky. He stood transfixed at the dew drops on the railing of the balcony, reflecting the colors from the sky.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Kai said looking upwards at the multi-colored sky.
Rei looked at Kai as he said that, taking in how much he had changed from a year ago.
"But not half as beautiful as you are" Rei replied, gathering a startled looking Kai into his arms.
"I love you, you do know that, right Kai Hiwatari?" Rei said smiling softly, looking into his garnet eyes.
"And, I love you" Kai said, recovering from his shock, wrapping his arms around Rei's neck. A sweet kiss was shared by the two of them under the pastel colors of the sky, melting away all the tensions and concerns of the outside world. All that mattered to them was here and now, then whatever life through at them they would get through, together.
