Disclaimer: Neither the movie nor book "A Little Princess" belong to me.

A/N: Just a short poem I came up with as I was reading other works in this category.

"The Way Papa Once Did"

I beat the floor in despairing cries

Pleading for the world to take me away

I wish to go wherever Papa is

Away from the horror of this attic room

Which is screaming with rot and decay.

The wind whips away my howls

As the rain tears at the window

While I pour out my feelings to no one

In hopes that maybe someone, somewhere

Will hear my nostalgic calls for times long ago.

But there is no one around to heed my shouts

Nor to their noise forbid

And no one near by to heal my pain

To call me a "Princess" or hold me delicately

As the way Papa once did.
