Rain

Warning: Senru, deathfic.

Disclaimer: I do NOT own Slamdunk.

The rain was quiet, soothing. And it was always the same. Just the steady stream of water that fell and fell and fell.

He could just sit there watching it, and it wouldn't matter. It would continue to fall, no matter what he did. It would continue to splash its crystalline substance over the ground, making little indentations where it hit the softer ground of the grassed. Just stare blankly out into the sky, watch the storm-clouds as they slowly disappeared. As they transformed from a mass of grayness and blackness to little puffy wisps of cloud that barely restrained the blueness of the sky behind them.

And when he watched the rain, he could forget everything.

Its steady fall evoked no memories, no sorrow, as everything else these days did. All it did was fall. That was all.

A single droplet could take an aching forever to make it's way to the earth as he watched it, caught in a web of light and gravity and blue webs of sky.

He could feel it landing on him, rolling off his arms, dripping off his hair, soaking into his shirt. Feel it being absorbed by his skin.

Until he was nothing more than part of it. Nothing more, nothing less.

The city of the night was so different. It sparkled and gleamed and the concealing darkness lent it a glamour that gave it beauty in the night.

Dull buildings bequeathed a certain antique aura to their night-time counterparts. And shops lived, their cheeky neon conversations on display for all to see.

Light, hope, warmth shone through the windows. War m firelight and laughter. Family. Happiness.

Darkness enveloped him. The wind blew past him as though he was not there, was never there. He was part of that darkness, and nothing could ever bring him away from its sheltering confines.

It would never hurt him. Just let him be. Keep him safe. It was all he asked of it.

In darkness, he need not see his shadow beside him. See the starkly delineated lines where it cleaved the ground with its clear boundaries. Where he never let anyone near. Not anymore.

The rain was ending. And dawn was coming, it's coming heralded by the faintest golden glow around the edge of the world and the appearance of people beneath his feet.

And as he fell through forever, he wished for a single, precious thing.

Wait for me, Akira.

Author's Note:

Sendoh had died. Rukawa tried to live without him, but couldn't. The end.

How on earth did I end up writing /this/? I don't /like/ deathfics. Tell me if you could understand me without the explanation?
