Me

I'm the poor little Miss Rich

Nobody sees me for me,

And Nobody tries

I'm the little 'spirit'

Names more befitting than the truth.

Does anybody cares?

I'm the sinfully pretty soul.

Advances intrude upon my privacy.

Somebody save me.

So something changed.

I did something

Made a grave mistake.

But found a friend.

There was sadness, joy, tears, laughter

So now,

I'm the happy little girl,

A little more grown,

A little less innocent,

And finally, finally

everybody cares.

I wrote this poem to reflect Kaoru and what her life must be like in a nutshell, from the time prior to her meeting with Kenshin, to the time after they meet. 'poor little Miss Rich', 'little spirit', 'sinfully pretty soul' are just some of the things I felt would sum up the grievances she must have met up being a young girl on her own in Edo. Hopefully, you'd agree too, that when she found Kenshin and the rest, she found not only friends, but a family, and most of all, she found herself too.
