The Last Hours of Denethor`s Life

I bend over the Palantîr and see. I see death, burning, pain and horror. Men, women, children, scream and are silenced. But what is this? I clasp the Palantîr tighter with all the strength left to an old man. Ships. Black ships that bring death and fear to all. Death. Pain. Fear. Victory for Evil. I shriek, but cannot look away. He forces me to watch. When he allows me to look away I weep. It is time to end.

I take my son and lay him in the stone chamber. I pile branches on him, and lay down beside. Faramir, my only son, we shall end together.

They are here. They are taking my son. I weep. They so not see what I have seen. They tell me to live, while He tells me to die. I seal the entrance to the chamber, laughing.

I shall obey.

I light the branches and fling myself into their depths. Fire, flame, pain.

I shall obey.
