"Amber, you're here early," Betty said as she watched me tending to the garden outside of their house. It was true, I was at the Cooper residence about three hours earlier than what I was supposed to. However, I technically had not left yesterday, but Betty didn't know that. She had been out with her boyfriend and friends all evening, which gave me quite a few hours to enjoy Alice's company.

Hal had hired me back whenever I'd been in high school to do the things around the house that he didn't want to. Four years of that and Alice finally found out about it. She hadn't made him fire me, and even after their divorce, she had kept me around. Although, then it was for a different reason. I was still doing maintenance for their house, but I was also doing Alice Cooper.

"I'm going out of town this afternoon, so I told your mom I'd get everything done in the morning," I told Betty. Technically, it wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the whole truth either. Alice was taking me out on a date, which had to be out of town where the locals wouldn't see us.

"Oh, well have fun. Bye." Betty left and I went back to finishing the gardens up. By the time that Alice had come outside to check on me, I was washing her car. I could see her in the reflection of a window, standing on the porch with her morning coffee as she watched me work.

"Mind if I come in and change?" I asked Alice, who just let me step inside. She came in after me and shut the door. I was halfway up the stairs when I felt Alice's arms wrap around my waist. I turned around and stepped aside so that she could stand next to me.

"Good morning," Alice said as she kissed me. I smiled into it and reached for her hand. "Nice work sneaking out before Betty woke up."

"I try," I said with a wink. Alice tugged me upstairs and started the shower. We showered together quickly, Alice not helping me to keep my mind out of the gutter or my hands to myself. We got dressed, Alice made me a quick breakfast, and then we left.

"Do you ever think that what we're doing is wrong?" Alice asked me.

"When did you meet me?" I asked Alice.

"A couple years ago when you were mowing the lawn while Hal was inside drinking a beer while he watched the game," Alice answered.

"I was 18 then, almost 19 actually. We didn't start this until last year, so we're fine Alice. There's nothing wrong with our relationship because we're two consenting adults," I explained to her. "Some people might judge us, but it's not like we can't handle that."

"I was technically still married then," Alice said with a heavy sigh. "Sympathy isn't something extended towards me often. I doubt Betty would be okay if she found out about us."

"Do you love me? Do I make you happy?" I asked Alice. She nodded and I placed my hand over hers. "Then it doesn't matter. It isn't like you're Mrs. Robinson and we're having some huge affair. Give it a week, there will be a whole new thing washing over Riverdale and they'll forget all about us."
