Never Disobey
"It's okay, 2B. Kill me, just make it quick."
9S had again accessed the Bunker's data. 2B had sliced his ankles with a long sword so he couldn't escape. They were on the surface, on a hot and sunny day.
"Shut up, just shut up! Don't tell me what to do."
"2B, it's okay, it's not your fault."
"Screw you! Why do you always do it, why do you have to be so damn curious?"
"I'm sorry, 2B, I just can't help it. At least you're the one who kills me. If I have to die, I want to die next to you."
2B hesitated, on the verge of tears, but she knew what would happen next. 9S would destroy himself with a logic virus to spare her needing to end his life. It would be an excruciating death; she had seen it before. She had to act fast. 2B raised her sword, 9S flinched, and the butt of the sword came down on 9S's head, knocking him unconscious.
She thought for the hundredth time about running off with him, trying to survive on their own. She could finally show him how she feels, finally give him all the warmth and affection he wanted, but she knew they'd be caught, and she'd never be given the chance to be with 9S again. It was too much for her to bear.
Pod 042: "unit 2B is taking too long to terminate unit 9S. Proposal: sever the neck of unit–"
"WILL YOU JUST STOP TALKING ALREADY?"
Crying, 2B lifted 9S's head by his hair, and put her sword against his smooth neck. She knew this wouldn't be enough, his data would still be intact inside his head, and that too would need to be destroyed. She pulled her sword to the side of his head, the tip pointed towards his temple. Screaming, she plunged the sword straight through 9S's cranium, and pulled out.
She slid to her knees, her head bent. 9S's body had slumped over her shoulder, bathing her in blood.
"I'm sorry 9S, I made you a promise. I don't know what else to do."
Pod 042: "mission complete. 2B's behavior is unacceptable, unit 2B must distance herself from the body of 9S. Emotional connections are prohibited."
"Why is it that 9S becomes stronger when we grow close, and I grow weaker? Is it that he loses his memories? No, that's not the whole story, 9S is just different in some way. I'll never understand him."
