Chapter 1

Hermione was sick of it. Everyone hated her. She thought that coming to Hogwarts would make thing change but apparently, they didn't. Hermione was always bullied in primary school. She was the girl nobody liked because she was stuck up, bossy, a know it all, teacher's pet, strange things happened to her, she was weird. Hermione thought that things would change once she got to Hogwarts, but nothing seemed to like her. Everyone hated her.

Slytherin hated her because her parents were muggles. Ravenclaw hated her because she always outsmarted them. Hufflepuff hated her because she was bossy and didn't care about anyone other than herself. But Gryffindor, her own house, hated her even more. They hated that she was an annoying know it all, always persisting that people did their homework. She never cared about how she looked, and she sucked up to all the teachers. Hermione was sick of it.

Professor McGonagall had requested to see all the first years after their end of year exams to see how they had settled into Hogwarts and how they were finding it. Hermione was the last person to be called. She saw Ron Weasley and Harry Potter laughing about something before glaring at her before she left. She wondered how different things would be if she had become friends with them.

Ron had always insulted her. She missed her first Halloween feast because she went up to her room crying about what he said to her. She had no friends. Not one. She had formed a friendship with Neville Longbottom on the train, but he had just ignored her since they came to Hogwarts. Dean Thomas and Seamus Finnagan mostly ignored her, as well, but sometimes made a snide remark about her. Harry Potter and Ron, on the other hand, constantly laughed at her. They made jokes and were constantly annoying her and trying to get her into trouble. Ron would constantly throw things at her from across the room and Harry would just sit there and laugh. Lavender Brown and Pavarti Patil were always making fun of her hair and how she had wonky teeth. They would constantly tease her for the fun of it.

Hermione braced herself and followed Professor McGonagall to her office. She asked Hermione to take a seat.

"So, Miss Granger. Tell me, how do you think your studies have gone this year?"

"Uhm okay, I guess. I mean I have come top of my class in every subject bar flying but I just feel like I'm not being pushed enough. I mean I pick everything up ten times quicker than everybody else and I am nearly always the only person to put my hand up and answer questions. Sure, I get house points, but then other people just go and loose even more. I just don't feel like anyone is even close to my level and the content covered is just too easy and boring. I want to be pushed more academically but I don't know if that will end up happening," Hermione answered.

"I see. I will bring it up with the headmaster. On other notes, how have you found things socially. How have you found your friends?"

"Uhm... I haven't got any friends Professor"

"Surely you must have some. Not even with any Ravenclaws, I'm sure that you would be able to have common interests" McGonagall was confused. Sure, she saw Hermione keep to herself, but she hadn't been aware that the girl had no friends at all. This was a concern.

"No Professor. Nobody would want to be friends with me. The Slytherins hate me because of my muggle parents, Hufflepuff doesn't like my sometimes too bossy attitude, Ravenclaw hate that a Gryffindor is stealing the spotlight from them, and Gryffindor hate me for being studious, a teacher's pet, a know it all and they make fun of everything about me. I'm sorry Professor but I can't deal with it anymore. I thought that things would change once I got to Hogwarts, but they haven't, and I just can't do this anymore" Hermione said. She could feel a tear roll down her face. She couldn't do this anymore. It's not fair. Her parents always told her to be herself and not listen to what other people said but they couldn't understand how hard it was. They didn't understand how much words could hurt.

Professor McGonagall looked at one of her star students. She had realised that Hermione was more reserved, but she didn't realise that things were this bad. She looked back on all the classes she had had with the first years and felt bad for not realising before now. Now she thought about it, McGonagall could tell all the signs. Everyone always rolled their eyes when they saw Hermione put up her hand. She remembered people pushing her in the corridors. A side comment from multiple students that she had just ignored as banter. Maybe Hogwarts wasn't the right place for Hermione.

"I'm sorry Miss Granger. I didn't realise how bad things were, but I think I may have a solution to your problems. I would have to run it through Professor Dumbledore first though. If things are really as bad as you say they are, I would recommend transferring schools. Now Hogwarts may be the only wizarding school in Britain but there are many schools all over the world that teach magic. However, there is a wizarding school in France that I think would be perfect for you. From my knowledge, this school not only pushes their students academically but there are many extra-curricular activates that you are bound to find friends that share common interests. I also think that there is a bigger sense of community than here at Hogwarts. I was nearly sent there myself before my parents decided that they hated the idea of me travelling overseas to go to school. I would miss you here Miss Granger, but I think that this school may help you a lot more than Hogwarts ever will. I realise that Hogwarts has it's flaws and it isn't really as perfect as some people claim it to be. I think you would definitely benefit from this, and I would definitely like you to consider this. By the way, the school is called Beauxbatons. Please think about it Miss Granger. You are free to go"

"Thank you, Professor," Hermione had a lot to think about. Was this actually going to work, or would she only be disappointed again. Hermione did not know but she hoped that this time things would finally change. She would finally make friends. She would never know if she didn't try though. Was this really going to be the change that she wanted?
