Jasper hadn't woken up in a good mood.

Thus he had gone hunting.

But so far all he had been coming up with were deer.

Then he catches a fisher's scent.

He tries hunting said fisher even if it was small, because carnivorous .

But to his utter dismay he ends up letting it go for once he catches it the idea of having to bite it overpowers him with disgust.

It's been over 2 months since he last had a drop of human blood and to be honest he's starting to feel like crap. He hadn't slept much when he went with Alice to look for Nahuel nor did he feed much from venom lately for venom had started to also increase his headaches. He leans against a tree as a sudden wave of dizziness hits him.

And he's still panting over the chase he gave to that damn fisher.

He can feel the cold sweat starting to trickle down his temple and how the shaking from his entire being wouldn't stop. His vision blurs at the same time a swirling nausea takes hold of his stomach. Hot and intense.

And before he can stop it his legs buckle under him and he drops on his knees. Vomit crawling up. His throat burns more than it has ever done before. It feels as if it's splitting apart from the inside out. He can't breathe. He's burning. Burning. His throat feels swollen. Melting. Blazing. Blistering. Boiling. Hot. Red. Was it possible to die due a melting throat?

Because it sure felt like it.

He gets up and tries to walk but all he can give is a few steps before collapsing back on the ground. The light is blinding him. Buzzing. The world is spinning. Vision zooming in and out. Ears ringing. The crickets are piercing his brain and the rustling leaves dragging across his skull like fingernails dragging on a chalkboard. The flapping wings from birds are like ringing his brain like a doorbell. Hooves. Paws. The forest is splitting his brain apart and the light burning his retina off. His skin blistering under the light. Light light light.

He is agonizing and weak and he wants to die.

He catches footsteps and rather than fight flight is the reaction his instincts went with and he reels back from the threat's incoming direction. He isn't sure how but he manages to make a run for it. Kind of.

Because his speed has abandoned him. And running is making him see double. Blurred. It makes the heat worse and his bones ache so bad he wants to collapse. He can't see well. Can't hear past the deafening forest.

But he knows he is being chased.

He can hear it. Footsteps .

And his gift is spiraling into a mess of blurred and distorted emotions he can't quite make out. Panic is high. A shot of light invades his vision blinding him.

Then a force yanks him back and he stumbles, crashing on the ground, he struggles against arms, kicking and twisting and biting.

But the arms are quick to come from behind and lock his arms against his chest in a tight hold and he is forced on the ground. He fights against the hold. Growling and hissing and as he twists his waist to the point where it feels like he will snap himself in half he manages to free himself.

He takes advantage of this to grab the attacker and slam it against the ground. He dives down to bite. Sinking his fangs into its arm and breaking flesh in the process. He injects venom into the bite, biting so hard he can feel the flesh coming off.

Another force collides with him but he doesn't let it bring him down to the ground as he lungs for it. Arms coming around them, but before he can crush them between his arms a hit connects on his back so hard it rattles his entire skeleton and he drops to the ground. He tries to get up but something even bigger comes above to hold him down. Arms now behind his back.

He struggles against the hold. Twisting and growling and hissing. Kicking and snarling. But it doesn't work for he is feeling weaker than he had in ages. And the pain. It's all consuming and he wants to scream if that means releasing the unforgiving pressure buried deep within his throat.

But no sound will come out. He's panting in a failed attempt to cool himself down. His throat. Venom dripping from his mouth. He can smell blood.

Human blood.

Such a small amount stained in bitterness he knows it belongs to a newborn.

But right now he will take whatever if that means peace.

Still.

The sudden intense smell of human blood slams into him with the force of a tsunami and rattles his insides with the might of an earthquake.

And at that moment, whatever remaining sane streak he had left disappeared as a surge of adrenaline pierced his skin. Obsessive. Overwhelming.

He tears himself out of the hold and bolts towards it.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Alice hadn't meant to chase Jasper but knowing that he would get hurt if she didn't had been impossible to ignore.
Him biting her wasn't new nor was it having to fight to overpower him.
And she could have switched their positions before he did too much damage had Bella hadn't chose to follow her and attack Jasper in her defense.
That had done nothing but agitate him more.
He lungs for her with all the intent of crushing her between his arms but of course Bella remembers how to counterattack that particular move.
Alice feels her insides churn when she sees her still newborn therefore strong sister bringing her fists down right on her mate's back with such force he drops to the ground and before he can think about getting up Emmett is there, straddling him and keeping him down. Twisting his arms behind his back in a tight grip.
He struggles against the hold of course. Twisting and growling and hissing. Kicking and snarling. His gift is blazing the place in nothing but such an intense bloodlust merged with pain her throat feels as if it's being split apart. The sounds coming out of him reaching a tone no human throat should ever be able to do. Something's wrong.
And then the smell of human blood obliterated their surroundings.
The sound of bone breaking reaches her ears at the exact same time Jasper bolts right past Bella at a speed she hasn't seen in him in decades. She smells Carlisle in that direction too so she tries to not worry.
But she knows.
This. This was wrong.
He wasn't getting better.
He was getting worse.
~~~~~~~~

Edward had been the one to give the forewarning. He had managed to catch in Alice's mind something about Jasper getting hurt if she didn't stop him. Had seen Jasper biting her.

Bella, Emmett and Carlisle had tracked them down.

Bella and Emmett as the strongest vampires of the house had had a better chance at subduing Jasper. He could be more skilled than all of them but he was still weaker in strength compared to Emmett and Bella.

Carlisle had brought with him a bag of human blood and kept a good distance to give himself time to put distance between himself and the blood.

Emmett never expected in his entire life that he would get to see a vampire break his own bones if that meant getting to the blood. To see Jasper so out of it. It was no secret how he could get when human blood was involved but this was straight out abnormal and concerning. He hurt Alice for God's sake.

And Emmett knew that once he came back to his senses that fact would shatter him.

Bella was staring at the direction where Jasper disappeared from with a shocked face. She felt frozen in place. Because one thing was hearing and knowing about her brother's issues with his current diet and what that brought upon him. She even had seen what human blood did to him.

But she never expected it could reach a point where he would be so blinded by it he would break his own bones. To hear such sounds and see him so out of it. To feel it... was this really normal? It couldn't be normal right?

Right?

~~~~~~~~~~
Carlisle made sure to leave the bag of blood on a boulder. Using a pin needle in order to pierce a little hole in the bag to attract Jasper's attention.
He put distance between himself and the blood in time to hear the wild footsteps and not soon after Jasper burst from the forest. He went straight for the blood and unlike other times this time the bag burst in his hands. But that didn't stop him from getting to it. He licked his arms. The bag. Even the rock.
He looked way more out of it than Carlisle ever remembered seeing him, in fact, everything about this episode went against everything Carlisle has ever noticed about him. There had been no warning, he had been perfectly fine earlier, he had attacked Alice.
It was like watching a feral animal with no conscience whatsoever.
He could feel it in the air. The thirst. The pain. The desperation that tethered over the edge of straight up obsession and insanity.
And this time rather than enter some kind of drowsy state as he usually did he curled in on himself and let out a pained moan.
Jasper never voiced out his pain which was all the reason Carlisle needed to kneel at his side in a blink.
-Jasper?
-It hurts.- Comes the quiet whisper that tears Carlisle's heart apart.
-What hurts?
A sob was his answer.
-Jasper what does it hurt?- He asked forcing himself to keep calm. He needed to keep calm for both of their sake.
Meanwhile Jasper felt like screaming like never before. His bones were throbbing with such force he wanted to rip his skin off and tear the bones out. It burnt. Throbbed. It was killing him.
But he didn't want Carlisle to know. He couldn't know. No one could know. But he went from crouching to dropping on his knees and before he could even see it coming the blood he had consumed. The human blood. Crawled back up his throat.
The shock and surprise in the air pierces his skin and he curls in on himself with a cry. His back screams at him and he flinches back up with such force the world spins with the might of an earthquake. His focus going out of the window. He grabs into the air but fails at catching anything to ground him.
Arms grab him. Strong and firm but never painful. He grabs into the arm like a lifeline. Hugging it and panting. His stomach is screaming. His throat is screaming. His chest. His bones. His blood. It feels like his own blood has become actual acid and is attempting to boil him from the inside out. The world won't stop shaking and spinning. The forest is screaming at him. His gift has left whatever grip he had ever had on it.
And he has lost all the control he has ever had over himself or his surroundings.
That single fact is enough to send such panic into him his breathing speeds up. Because he knows nothing. And he is confused. Terrified. In pain. And he has no idea why is this happening.
His claws lodge into the arms he is holding. Piercing skin as hysteria threatens to take hold of him. The smell of venom rather than make his stomach leap once again it makes his entire being scream. His fangs ache but his mouth is dry.
As if all the venom he had ever had in him had disappeared.
And he bites the arm.
The taste of venom almost sends him over the edge and he sucks on it with a desperation he hadn't felt in his entire life. It's cold and unforgiving and he can do nothing but suck.
The whiplash of relief that the venom brings with it finishes him.
And the world goes black.
~~~~~~~~~

Having Jasper throwing back up the human blood had been all the incentive Carlisle needed to know that something was definitely and horribly wrong with his son.

It had made surprise and shock obliterate him. And he wasn't sure if it were his emotions or something else but Jasper curled back on the ground with a pained cry. The sound sending a shiver down Carlisle's spine.

Jasper flinches back up not even a second after as pain slams across the air like a shockwave. His eyes are wild and unfocused, he's shaking way too much and when he reaches into the air Carlisle knows he can't keep himself upright and he catches him.

He feels Jasper hold onto his arm with a mortifying desperation, he's still shaking in his hold, the air so thick with pain Carlisle can almost feel it as his own, but he doesn't let go of Jasper, doesn't loosen his hold of him.

Then the panic hits. It ripples the air with the force of a nuclear explosion. His breathing becoming ragged and shallow and Carlisle has no idea what's wrong with him. Jasper neither for the looks of it for he can feel the confusion in the air. The terror. Pain. He can feel the desperation and the near hysteria the boy has fallen into.

Then he feels it.

As the grip tightens on his bicep he feels what he knows are claws breaking into his skin.

And with that single fact realization dawns upon him.

Black blood.

He knows what this is.

And then Jasper bites him. He feels the familiar pressure and he knows what he is doing.

Now a lot of things made sense.

His avoidance of the sun. Maria's obsession over him. The constant change in his hair. Why Jor let Renesmee feed him human food. The figure in the sky all those years ago. Alice's scars. The odd silver freckles in his eyes. Why he would never step into a new house unless Alice dragged him in. Why he hid his scent under Alice's. The sunglasses. Bella's scratch. Feeling hot due the alcohol. Emmett claiming to have found him sleeping...

And he suspected he knew how come no one had figured it out and why hadn't he been able to see anything out of the ordinary when he looked for the black co-web.

He had used compulsion to hide himself. And God knows how many times had he used it on them through the years.

Now Jor's suffocating presence and voice made sense.

Black bloods were by nature on top of the food chain. Predators who could prey even on each other.

The reaction Jor got from others was nothing but him pressing on their instincts while lacing his voice with his compulsion.

Carlisle was brought out of his thoughts as he felt Jasper become boneless in his hold.

At that same time Alice appeared.

Carlisle glanced up at her and for the first time in a long time his voice came out colder than ice itself.

-We have a lot to talk about, young lady.
