Anne went out to meet Sprig and Polly outside before she picked them up to carry them out of town.
"Hang on guys, this is gonna be a wild ride." Anne said to them, "Why don't we take the scenic route?"
She pointed her wrist at a tall tree and began to swing on it. Out of her wrist came a line of web and Anne pulled it to launch them into the air before she took off to the forest!
"Whoa!" Sprig said in awe!
"How do you do that?!" Polly asked.
"I got bitten by a spider on a school trip." Anne said, "Turns out they were experimenting on it and it escaped. Next thing I know, I can shoot a web, stick to walls, jump high, and I even have a sixth sense."
"A sixth sense? What is it?!" Sprig asked.
"Watch!" Anne said as she closed her eyes, swinging towards a tree.
"Uh, Anne!"
The two screamed as Anne shot another web at the last second, avoiding the tree. For the rest of the trip to the forest, Anne kept her eyes closed and dodged all of the trees without trouble. Like she just knew they were coming at her. This was her sixth sense, her spider sense. As they swung through the woods, Anne noticed a group of toads heading towards Bonesborough.
"Who are they?" Anne asked, landing and sticking to a tree trunk.
"It looks like tax collectors." Sprig said, "We should get back to town and see what's going on."
"Good idea." Anne said.
She shot her wrist out and another web came from it. Anne quickly made her way back to the farm so she could see what happens with the tax collectors in this world. She found Hop Pop with the rest of the town.
"Kids!" Hop Pop said as they landed next to him.
"Hop Pop, what's going on?" Anne asked.
"These toads are here to collect taxes that they didn't pay, but everyone here paid them." Hop Pop said.
Anne looked at them.
"Sprig, you look into this, I'll keep an eye on them." Anne said.
"How are you going to do that?" Sprig asked.
"I'm going to see if I can join them."
"What?! You will not!" Hop Pop said, immediately hating the idea!
"It's not because I want to, it's because I need to find out why they're here if you said the town already paid their taxes." Anne said to Hop Pop.
"Don't worry HP, I'll be fine. If they try anything, I have my Spider sense and super strength." Anne said.
"I only understand the second part but if you think you can do it…." Hop Pop said to her, still nervous.
"I KNOW I can do this." Anne said with a nod, "Don't worry, nothing bad will happen."
Anne went over to the Toads. Too bad Anne didn't know how wrong she would be as she joined the toads on their tax "collection."
