"Help!" Jane screamed. He had been screaming for the past few hours, and his throat was in pain. His voice came out weaker than he would have thought possible. "Help me!"
Still, no response.
"Help!" His voice faltered, leaving most of the word silent.
Finally, the door opened and one of his kidnappers came in, locking the door behind herself. "You should stop screaming," she said flatly. "Frankly, it's annoying."
Jane opened his mouth and tried to say something, but he had lost his voice long ago. No words made their way out.
The woman snorted. "See? These are the consequences of screaming. I'm surprised you were even able to last that long. You're a pathetic, sad man, Patrick Jane. Isn't your voice all you have at this point? Except now, you don't." As sudden as she entered, she left, leaving Jane to wonder why she even came in in the first place. To taunt him?
Jane tried to scream again, but still, no noise was made. He decided that maybe giving his throat a little rest would be beneficial…
Eventually, one of his kidnappers gave him some water, and Jane's voice felt well again for him to continue screaming. He heard the female kidnapper who taunted him earlier lecture the other kidnapper for giving him water, but Jane didn't care. He had his voice right now. He was sure he was close enough to the CBI headquarters for them to find him. He just had to keep screaming.
"Do you really want to lose your voice again?" The female kidnapper - who's name was apparently Veronica Silva - hissed out.
Jane didn't bother replying to Silva. He had to save his voice for later, for more cries for help.
"You're an idiot," Silva growled, then stalked away, probably off to yell at the man who gave him water - Blaze Fulton - again.
Jane found out why he was kidnapped. In order to lure Lisbon into a trap. Jane almost laughed at that. They really thought him and Lisbon were in a romantic relationship? They were coworkers. Lisbon was his boss. They were friends. That was what their relationship was. (And besides, romance wasn't exactly on Jane's mind recently. Not after Angela. Not after Kristina. Not until Red John was dead.)
Jane still had a bit of voice left. He'd call out to Lisbon once she came here… When she came here.
…if she came here.
Footsteps sounded outside the door. Jane opened his mouth and yelled out, "Help!"
He kept on screaming… and he lost his voice.
In the end, the one who was outside his door was Silva wearing a different pair of shoes.
"He should be in here somewhere, keep searching!"
Jane's spirits perked up at the sound of Lisbon's voice. He opened his mouth to scream "I'm here!" but nothing came out.
Jane's hopes plummeted. No…
Jane quickly ran over to the door and started banging on it, hoping Lisbon would hear it.
Yet the sounds of the CBI unit disappeared.
