Please keep in mind that I do not own any of the characters from 'The Boxer' web novel and 'Tokyo Ghoul'. I am just using the elements, settings and characters to form a fanfiction for my own personal amusement.

YOU WILL BE SENT TO ANOTHER WORLD AS A REWARD FOR YOU HAVE PROVEN SUCCESSFUL IN NOT FALLING INTO THE PITS OF DESPAIR DURING THE TRIALS SET UPON YOUR PREVIOUS LIFE.} I opened my eyes with a startle and looked around my surrounding which was a just an unblemished cuboidal room. In front of me is a humanoid light sitting in a lotus form.
The last thing I remember was me driving to my home from work; a year after my wife's funeral. Sitting in the driver's seat of the car and in a somber mood after my job and I fell asleep. I guess now I know how I died. Carmen and I have expected to pass on due to old age for a while now and we've cherished every moment of it. I was only glad that she passed on first so she didn't get to experience the grief that I am still feeling whenever I remember her pale and lifeless form on a hospital bed. Though I guess I passed on too since I'm here right now.
Before I could say anything, the humanoid figure continued its announcement. {DESTINATION RANDOMIZED…} a large spinning wheel suddenly appeared beside the figure as it spun at a fast pace before settling on one of the strange names labeled on the circle. {DESTINATION: TOKYO GHOUL. PLEASE TAP THE LABEL AND READ THE DESCRIPTION. THE DESCRIPTION WILL PRESENT YOU WITH THE DETAIL AND INFORMATION THAT COMMON INDIVIDUALS POSSESS.}
I sighed understandably and gave up asking for the specific details regarding my life and death circumstance because this humanoid seems to have been programmed to just deal with things directly to the point. I tapped the label with the name of my supposed destination with a hint of caution and as soon as my index finger touched the label, a huge amount of information surged in my mind. I clutched my head with my left hand in an attempt to mitigate the pain from the sudden influx of information; thankfully it subsided quickly along with the stream of information.
The relief from the pain was suddenly replaced with trepidation as the information now truly sunk in with my mind. Ghouls that survive upon only eating human flesh or cannibalizing other weaker ghouls along with an organization called 'CCG' that hunts said Ghouls. According to the information; I will be a Ghoul and will be dropped on the 19th ward in Japan instead of Korea. I don't really care much about where I am, at least not as much as being a Man-eater by default. This new life is apparently my prize for doing something vague though I am also not terribly thrilled with my prize; being transferred to a world with man-eating people imbedded into the shadows of society.
As I continued to digest the information reluctantly, I might add, the Humanoid started to speak up again. {ADDITIONAL REWARD: [GENETIC LOCKDOWN]- SUBJECTS GENETIC MAKEUP WILL NOT BE UNCOVERED OR ANALYZED.} I let out a breath of relief. A world like this that has various unnatural biological phenomenon will most likely have a lot of mad scientists. Although I admit that this boon is quite underwhelming its function will save me a lot of time making sure that I won't be cloned by some insane nerd.
{STARTER KAGUNE RANDOMIZATION…[KOUKAKU KAGUNE]. PLEASE CREATE YOUR DESIRED KOUKAKU DESIGN.} According to the information in my brain a Koukaku kagune is released below the shoulder blade. Due to its high density of R.c cells, it is heavy and extremely robust, giving it the greatest sturdiness and making them very well suited for defense. Normally, they are generally shaped into armors or shields, but on the offense, they can be shaped like melee weapons such as drills, hammers, blades, and swords.
This kagune type seems awfully straight forward though it's good that they gave me the chance to at least design my own Koukaku kagune. After I submitted my design with great satisfaction; the humanoid suddenly produced a bell like sound which greatly startled me making me flinch on the spot.

A good thing since 'Anger' is an emotion that is most often than not; blinding and misleading. I thought for a bit before pushing the [ACCEPT] button along with the [CREATE] button and then proceeded to create my personally designed perk.
{CREATED PERK…[BLOOD MATE]- IN EXCHANGE FOR YOUR 'FEAR' EMOTION, YOU WILL GET THE ABLITY TO SHARE [LIFE STEAL] PERK WITH A SINGLE INDIVIDUAL BY INGESTING ANY AMOUNT OF YOUR BLOOD TO THE SUBJECT ALONG WITH THE INTENT TO SHARE SAID PERK.} With the [LIFE STEAL] perk I am most likely to live for a long time and I intimately know the feeling of loneliness and isolation. It was basically the two constants of my early years, thankfully Carmen appeared in my life and persevered to bring me back out of the depths of my loneliness. [BLOOD MATE] will help me in that department giving me the most loyal companion to accompany me through life. Even though my [BLOOD MATE] won't be the same as My Carmen, I know that she will understand and welcome my choices to move on from her.

After hearing the announcement, I burned my status in memory so I don't forget it and then proceeded to use the next hour for practice. A beeping alarm resounded in the room after the allocated hour was done. The hour of practice really consolidated my sense of reality and helped me adjust to my younger body along with my new abilities. A portal appeared before me and as I stepped inside it a message appeared blocking my way.

It disappeared as soon as I was done reading leaving me with a dumbfounded look. It seems that even in the after-life she still takes care of me. A wry grin formed on my lips as a determined gaze replaced the longing spark in my abyss black eyes. I will make sure to make the most out of this life just like what she told me in the letter. 'If that's what you want, then it seems that I won't be meeting you for an extremely long time.' I thought passing through to the dark swirling portal.
