Chapter4
19th Ward: Flighty Club, Shima District-5th Street.
"Hado, stay here and guard the door. I'll be giving the report." Kato said with a no-nonsense expression signaling the significance of his order. Hado nodded with an unusually tense expression making the ghouls on the vicinity curious about what happened to their previous task. He would usually make a ruckus and play silly games to anyone that caught his attention but now he just rigidly stood beside the door where Hado just entered.
Kato walked with trepidation down the dark hallway. At the end of the hallway was a wooden door leaking smoke from the inside. Entering the door, he saw a man with moderately average face and a swept back hair smoking a thick cigar while holding documents with a frown. "How was the stranger Kato?" he absently asked as he reviewed the document he had been reading. Kato didn't answer immediately but took his time to formulate his sentences and go over his responses.
He stood straight before starting his report. "He named himself 'Weaver' and he is a Mercenary from Korea." Kato paused and handed over Kai's Business card which the Man took with a raised brow. Kato paid no heed to that and continued his report with a rigid expression. "We naturally attacked first and intended to ask questions after we captured him but he beat us badly. After that debacle he let us go and handed us that business card."
The man hummed pensively before asking. "Why did he kill the member assigned to that area?"
"Apparently Katsu annoyed him because he was rude. He even apologized to us."
"I see, I can be lenient about that. Was he good at combat? What do you think of him strength wise?"
"He is strong Karasu-sama even for me. When we attacked, he was already covered in his Kagune which tells us that he has sharp instincts. Although I am ashamed to admit it, he did not take a single step when he dealt with us."
Karasu's eyes widened for just a fraction of a second before going back to normal. "I see…maybe we can pay him to assassinate those hateful rats." He said ponderously as he caressed Kai's card. "What do you think Kato? Is he trust worthy?" He asked looking at Kato in the corner of his eye.
Kato dropped his rigid visage replacing it with a pensive expression. "I think it is a worthwhile investment Karasu-sama. If I was in his shoe, I would have kept one of us to make sure that the other one returns or I would just kill the two of us and escape from here but he didn't do anything like that. He just freed the two of us after serving us coffee."
Karasu chuckled at the last statement. "How polite of him. I will put you in-charge of communicating with him. Make a deal and tell him that we will pay 5million yen to assassinate the leader of the rats. Don't forget to ask for his account."
Kato's eyes bugged out when he heard the amount but then he thought about the territories they lost from the new faction under the leadership of 'The Rat'. He bowed deeply before straightening up as his Kakugan presented itself to the world showing his determination and commitment to the elimination of the Rats that infested their home. "I will not disappoint you Karasu-sama. I will cultivate a good working relationship between our group and him so we can call on him whenever we need his expertise." Kato then turned back fully pumped about his new task.
Karasu just smile wryly while shaking his head. 'Cultivating that kind of relationship would certainly be advantageous for us. However, let's see if he really is deserving of such a partnership. I guess the answer will depend whether or not he will accomplish the mission.'
(YU/MC P.O.V)
I blissfully sighed in contentment as I dipped into the lukewarm water which filled the bath tub. I am currently in a Love hotel since the apartment was wrecked so badly during the fight and I don't want to pay the damages since I don't have any money to pay for it anyway. The last spendable money was used for this room and for setting up a bank account. Good thing I didn't leave any finger prints behind since I use my kagune to do all the work there, I even use my kagune when drinking coffee. The R.c cell consumption for using a single strand is negligible so I intend to abuse it as much as possible.
As I continued to muse about my unstable livelihood which is to be expected since I'm just starting out. My phone rang prompting me to get out of the comfortable bath. A smile found itself in my face since there was only one occasion that I handed a phone number and that was my business card. Seeing that someone called me in that number may have something to do with a job. It seems like my performance last time was effective.
I picked up the phone and answered the call. "Hello, Weaver speaking."
[This is Hado, we have a target for you.]
"Send it to me. How much?"
[Five(5) million yen. The deadline is next week Friday. We will send the first half of the payment today.]
"Alright"
The phone beeped receiving the file of information they have on the target. I set it aside and texted my account number. It didn't take long as I reviewed the information they sent with a grain of salt, that my other phone resounded which means that half of the money have already been sent.
{ TARGET:
NAME: NEZUMI SHO
AFFILIATION: KOSSORI GROUP
POSITION: LEADER/TACTICIAN
KAGUNE: BIKAKU
DETAILS: …}
It seems that 'The Perch' really hate this guy. The file they sent was extremely extensive that they even sent a last-minute update to the file and sent a 'Last seen at...' information. This Nezumi Sho guy looks like a typical sneaky guy albeit weak-looking. According to the information they sent, he doesn't fight into the front lines but prefers to stay at the back and think about schemes to widen the area of their territory. Without this guy the 'Kossori' group will scatter like a pile of sand.
After reviewing the file again, I decided to use my new found wealth to buy some essentials. I checked out of the love hotel and strolled downtown looking for thing that may become essentials. In the end I bought four sets of black turtle neck and grey stretchy pants along with a pair of black gloves that have imbedded metal knuckles in it, I also bought a trench coat and a black ordinary mask. After this mission I will make sure to go to the 20th ward. To only have cover on the lower part of my face is troublesome and paranoia inducing.
When I was done shopping, I asked around and found an adequate Motel to rest for the night. Despite having 2.4 million yen on my account, I am still inherently minimalistic, if not for Carmen's' years of continuous nagging I wouldn't have even developed the habit of dressing nice. I entered the motel room which looked clean enough, it has a large bed, a wardrobe, circular table and all basic furnishing for a motel room. Without further ado I tossed my duffel bag onto the table and stripped myself naked before flopping down the bed. I have decided to scout the location of the target tomorrow while simultaneously looking for a chance opening where I can just sneak in a single thin thread of my kagune into a crack to kill him so I need all the rest I can get.
