There are many wonders in the world. There are also many stories. Ones that tell of brave, handsome heroes, and wretched, evil villains. Of course, young Saphira was familiar with that world, as it lay right outside of her reach. But she had been condemned to a different place. One that will be burned into the memories of all who go there. Saphira does not understand that the world she was chosen for was by far the best... it just depended on her perspective.
Before Saphira was accepted to the School for Untamed Magic and Beastery, she was living in the classic, stereotypical world. Fairies fluttered around everywhere, and damsels in distress were just an average Monday. The proud heroes waltzed through the neighborhoods, bearing swords and seeking praise, which was given to them unfortunately. But, then again, this was what was expected of this world. Saphira never wondered why she was the only child around there, as the rest were adults. She tried to ask her parents one day, but she was denied, shoved away to do more chores, and she never questioned them again. This was supposed to be a perfect world, they said. Even though Saphira lived in the world of magic and fairy tales, she still had her story-time. And it was always, always reading about the Guardians. Legend has it that in another world lies a school for the specially gifted in the art of transformation and control. The people who went there were able to transform into animals themselves, or able to call animals. Saphira had always wanted to be one of those people and go there, but, alas, she had not the traits. At least, that's what she thought about herself. Enough of me narrating, eh? I'll just let you catch up and meet Saphira yourself.
I woke up in the morning at exactly 7:00. Same time every day. It's how this world is. No evil, just good, good, good. I like peace, and so does everyone else, but I feel like the heroes don't even know how to swing the swords they hold so gracefully. They're as dumb as rocks, but I dare not say anything to them. The protagonists, my mother used to say (and still does), are above us. We background characters play no part in their story. When I was little, that would usually stop me from asking more questions, but I was 13 years old now. I started saying things like "They don't have a story, mum, they don't even know how to coin a good catchphrase!" This, of course, would get me grounded and spanked. We can't speak of the ones above us badly, can we?
I stretched and pulled myself out of bed. Yeah. I bet you weren't expecting this boring of a plot. What can I say? I have a boring life. I get up, I go to school, come home, and do chores until dinner. Then its story-time. At least, it used to be. I decided last year to forget the legends about the so-called Guardians. Sure, I want to be one, but my letter to Hogwarts is never coming.
Gosh I wish the world was still that simple.
I've been accepted to the school for Untamed Magic and Beastery. Which is the school of legends.
I'm leaving tonight, and my parents will most likely never see me again.
I just wish I was leaving willingly.
-AN: First ever fanfic! ShOulD I ConTinuE? I have no idea where I'm going with this, but 😛
Disclaimer: … wait I think I won everything? EXCEPT HOGWARTS! Not mine! (I would gladly take it, but...) Oh and maybe, the name is from the Inheritance Cycle. Maybe. /div
