Vault 100, The Observation Vault

Dear Researcher -

We'd like to thank you for accepting your new role as a researcher of Vault 100. This Vault is the most important in the entire Vault-Tec program, as you will be responsible for monitoring the Vault Experiment as a whole.

If you are reading this then you are one of the privileged few in either Vault-Tec, the United States Government, or both that has been informed of the true purpose of the Vaults. Each experiment will begin on [23 OCTOBER 2077], the day the predicted apocalypse occurred according to Vault 100's sensors. A select few will begin earlier.

Your assigned Vaults for monitoring are Vaults 21, 34, and 101. Specific monitoring instructions for each Vault have been provided below:

Vault 21: Vault-Tec research has identified this as one of the experimental Vaults most likely to avoid a Failure State. Please monitor this Vault especially closely and pay attention to which games of chance are used most frequently to resolve disputes.

Vault 34: Entrants to this Vault are disproportionately enthusiasts of firearm collecting. Pay attention to the reactions from residents during any time period in which firearm restriction or confiscation is proposed.

Vault 101: You must closely monitor the Overseer in this experiment, as the primary purpose is to observe their role in a Vault that will ideally never be opened. In the event that the Vault opens, you are to monitor the changes to the community that result from this.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are you to directly interfere with the Vault Experiments, even if said Experiments are sabotaged or otherwise not allowed to proceed. Your role is strictly one of passive observer.

Thank you for your continued service. Vault 100 has been equipped with enough food and water supplies to last its small residential population over five centuries, and we look forward to working with your descendants on the continuation of the Vault Experiment.
