Traversing the desert was more difficult than she had thought. It wasn't that the journey was difficult, there was a well-trodden path which lead through the desert to the oasis of Kara Kara Bazaar and Gerudo Town. Instead, it was her own emotions. The area strongly reminded her of Urbosa, she hadn't allowed herself to think about her close friend all that much. Urbosa was the mother she never had, and the shoulder she leaned on until Link came along. They were currently in the oasis, Link was now asleep in one of the small alcoves which were cut into the wall which made the beds of the inn. She was laying beside him, wide awake, she couldn't do it. She couldn't bring herself to travel to the town. She knew it would remind her to strongly of Urbosa. She shed a singular tear, which gave way to a river of silent sobs as she mourned the death of her friend for the first time. She remained silent, not wishing for Link to wake up and find her in such a vulnerable state. Though she loved him, and trusted him, she wasn't ready to show how truly weak she could be.

The next morning she woke up late. Judging by how much space she was taking up, Link had already woken up and started getting ready. She slowly opened her eyes after feeling around the empty bed. She looked around for a moment before seeing Link approaching her with a plate in his hand. "It's about time you woke up, its almost noon." He was smiling softly, clearly oblivious to her struggles from the previous night. She was glad he didn't know, she knew that she'd explain when she was ready, but such was not the case now. "I made you some breakfast, I already finished eating mine." She sat up groggily before taking the plate. There was some bread along with some meat. "Thank you, it looks rather delicious. I assume the bread isn't yours though." Though she wasn't an expert cook, she knew that bread took quite some time to bake. "That's correct, I bought it from one of the merchants." She nodded before taking a bite.

She finished soon after, setting the plate to one side. "I'm afraid I cannot go to the Town today, I believe it is best that we just head up to Vah Naboris and take it from there." She stated quietly, absently fidgeting with her fingers as she stared down at them. "I figured you'd say that." His voice was soft and understanding, it soothed her a little. "I just.. it's too soon for me to go there." She looked up into his eyes, watching as his head nodded with understanding. "That's okay, there's always next time." He stated briefly, she was aware that there would be more opportunities, though currently the thought of seizing those opportunities seemed too difficult.

Zelda spent the next little while getting herself ready, she washed her face and her hair in the cool water of the oasis before taking an elixir. What she liked most about Kara Kara and Gerudo Town, was that they were much cooler than the rest of the desert due to their water sources. She tried to ignore the foul taste of the liquid and made her way over to Link. "All ready to go?" She inquired, placing her hands on her hips. Link nodded quickly before glancing up at the mountain which Vah Naboris was perched upon. "We'll need to plot a route first." He stated, she sighed softly, she would prefer not to climb, hopefully the map could assist them in finding such a path. She took out the device before opening the map. Link came around and peeked over her shoulders. She examined it carefully, looking around Spectacle Rock on the side closest to them, but nothing appeared to lead up or down it. "Here." Link tapped on the screen, focusing it on the area by the stable. Zelda frowned, that seemed as though it would only get them to some ledges below the area they wished to reach. "We can't make it that way." She stated bluntly, but Link seemed to know better.

"We can actually, we ascend this slope until we get to a set of ladders, we climb those before walking across some platforms to get to some more ladders. Then there is a natural bridge which we can cross which then leads to a manmade bridge. Then we walk up that slope and-" Zelda cut him off. "And then we're stuck." She could sense Link shaking his head behind her. She felt his hand under her chin, guiding her gaze up towards the mountain. "That small hole will allow us to pass under this land mass and get up to the tower, from there we only need to walk over to Naboris." She glanced back down at the map, he was correct after all. "Very well then.." She sighed, she didn't like being wrong. She was about to speak when Link cut in. "Let's be off?" She pouted before looking away. "That's my line.. but yes, let's be off." She muttered before beginning to walk.

The journey took them about two hours. Link was perfectly fine, but Zelda seemed quite exhausted. "We can rest for now, the sun is low so the cold air should cool you down, after that we can venture inside." She nodded breathlessly, Link rummaged around in his bag for anything that could be of use. He took out a bottle of milk before handing it to her, she finished drinking it about 7 seconds later. She gasped with relief as she lowered the glass. "I needed that.." She laughed slightly, though her breath was still laboured. "It was the slope which got me, it was far too steep." He nodded gently, even he had felt some pain in his legs whilst walking up the slope.

A little while later, Zelda's energy was replenished. They got to their feet and he gazed up at the Divine Beast. "Quit staring and get moving." He looked down, Zelda was already a few paces ahead of him. He followed her before walking alongside her. "How do we get up to those platforms?" Her question entered his ears and he began thinking for a moment. "Give me a second." He pulled out a bow and some bomb arrows, he aimed at one knee and shot it a few times before the Divine Beast fell onto said knee. He repeated this on all of the legs until the platform was on the ground. "You just blow it up? And severely damage it?" He shook his head, placing the bow back. "Look, the energy is coming back. We just momentarily disabled those functions, and if we don't hurry the energy will replenish and we'll have to waste more resources."

Once inside, the two made their way into the main terminal room. They climbed some steps to get to the control unit before Link placed the Sheikah Slate against the pedestal. There was rumbling above them before the roof opened and an elevator came down. Without a word they both stepped on and the machine began to rise. Upon the hatch closing, they were plunged into darkness yet again, the only light being emitted came from the tomb of the Monk. The male approached it before ascending the stairs and tapping the Sheikah symbol, watching as the box brightened and shattered. There was a pause before the Monk spoke. "I am Vah Naboris, keeper of this magnificent machine. Your journey is coming to its end, you must go to the Great Plateau, and meet with Monk Maz Koshia. There.. everything will be explained, there, everything.. will change.." The Monk faded away, leaving them with more questions than answers. "I thought that this would be the end, we'd find our purpose and complete whatever it is that we are supposed to do." Zelda's words mirrored his thoughts, he too had expected to learn of what they were supposed to do. "I suppose we can only follow orders and find out." He suggested after a moment of silence. He heard Zelda's frustrated sigh. "I am so sick of orders." He nodded gently, knowing how much she struggled with obeying others in the past. "Just one more, one more and then we're likely free." He watched a smile flash across her lips. "Then let's be off, let's find out what's in store for us." He nodded once more before wondering how everything could change.
