I do not own any of the Naruto characters.

This was the second night she couldn't concentrate on her readings. Sakura sighed, frustrated, as she placed the medical scroll back onto her lap before taking her hands to her temple, gently massaging the tense muscles located there with her cold, slender fingers. She looked to her left at the man sleeping peacefully beside her and smiled softly. It had been a couple of months since he got back from his travels. And just a couple of weeks since he finally made her his. It was honestly such a relief being able to see and touch him whenever she pleased, to know that he was home with her, safe and sound. To know that, in his own way, without saying it, he loved her too. It wasn't all in her head anymore. He loved her. Sasuke loved her. He came back for her. He…

As the light from the candles started to flicker from the soft wind coming through her opened window, Sakura turned her head to her right and began looking outside. The moon began rising above the Hokage Mountain, covering the pinkette and everything else in the room in a thick layer of silver light. Slowly, so she wouldn't wake Sasuke up, she got up from the bed and quietly made her way towards the window, taking a seat on the wooden frame, her sparkling emerald eyes never leaving the heavenly body in front of her.

Ever since she was a little girl, the kunoichi was fascinated with the moon. She heard a lot of stories regarding it from her great grandmother, a woman who, after the tragic loss of her husband in war, dedicated the rest of her life to worshipping it in a temple just outside of Konoha. According to her, the moon was a wise being that would offer you guidance, if you chose to listen to what it had to say. She promised Sakura that when she was older, she would give her a little more insight on how to actually do it. Sadly, the young shinobi never got the chance to learn. The woman she hoped would guide her passed away in her sleep a week before Sakura's 7th birthday.

It was a harvest moon. Just like the night she began having intrusive thoughts. The night the moon warned her that Sasuke was going to leave the village. The night Sakura swore bonded their souls.

'This feeling…'

The pinkette remembered just feeling this intense wave of sadness wash over her as she was having ramen with Naruto. She was startled by the sound of wings flapping above her and immediately looked up, accidentally catching a glimpse of the full moon. By the time she managed to blink a couple of times, she already knew what she had to do.

'It's happening again.'

Sakura's eyes began to water as she climbed back in bed, embracing the raven haired man before her. Oh, his body was so warm and inviting. She let out a quiet sob as she buried her face in the crook of his neck. She didn't know if she had it in her to say goodbye once more.

"You're thinking about leaving again, aren't you?" She did not expect her voice to sound so…broken. She began sobbing harder as she heard him sigh, a confirmation that yes, the man she loved and longed for for so many years was actually considering it. She felt his fingers search for hers underneath the covers.
