Epilogue to I should Tell You
(Dedicated to a friend, he suggested I continue with this story. He wanted to see what happens next. So here we go I guess; I hope you all enjoy. Google translate for the win, it's probably wrong, but hey I tried lol)
She glides slowly through the center. Excited, anxiousness, and nausea all in one big knot in the pit of her stomach. For years she dreamed of this moment and today it was finally here. The gentle pressure to her left, forcing her to look up, she sees her father's reassuring smile with the lingering touch of his hand on her arm. Looking around, seeing all her family and friends. Her body heats up, as her eyes land on the person waiting for her, as her excitement returns. They seemed so far away yet getting ever so close with each beat of her heart. She could see the nervousness in their face, mixed with pure awe, love, and happiness.
Daijōbudesu ka, akachan? (Are you okay, baby?)
Watashi wa daijōbudesu, arigatō papa. (I'm okay, thank you daddy.)
Finally reaching the alter, her father sadly let go of her hand, placing it into her partners. With a final sad smile, he retreats to his seat on the left side of the church. She stood in front of him, she always knew he cleaned up well, but today he was beyond perfect. He donned a deep blue tuxedo with an orange vest and bowtie. His hair, pulled back into a low ponytail, wearing clear gauges in each ear, there was no way she could ever talk him out of wearing them. She could practically see his eyes bulging from beneath his hairline. She knew that her stylist had out done themselves. She herself was wearing a snow-white kimono with silver accents. Her and her mother heatedly debated between going traditional or more American. In the end she gave in to her mother's wishes and was glad she did.
As the two continue to stare in awe at each other, they hear the priest clear his throat.
"Ahem… We are gathered here today to join this lovely couple, Wallabee Beetles and Kuki Sanban, into holy matrimony."
The ceremony continues…. Onto the Wedding Reception!
"Hey babe wasup? How's Junior (Hogarth Pennywhistle Gilligan III)?" Hoagie asks as he bends down kissing the middle of her forehead
"My lil cinnabun is alright, he couldn't hang tho."
She looks down at the sleeping child in her arm. He was dressed in a miniature version of what his dad wore. An orange tux, minus the jacket, with a blue vest, white dress shirt, and blue bowtie. The two-year-old took features from both his parents, but anyone who knew the little tyke could tell you that he was a daddy's boy. He had a mix complexion, a lighter skin tone then his mother, but slightly darker than his father. His hair was the same as his dad's, although he had his mother's hair color, albeit a bit lighter.
"Mmm, mmm… boy don't you smell all sagey. Did ya'll enjoy ya'll selves?" Abby asks
Loosening his tie, sitting down next to her, he replies "Yeah, the smoking ceremony was interesting to say the least, they were moving onto the stone ceremony when I left. There was a ton of smoke everywhere, the guest just sat around and chatted through the whole thing."
She chuckles, "Well ya know their parents had more input into their wedding then ours did. Ya know, with Abby being a French African American & you being a Jewish/German American (big debate on his ethnicity in the KND community, so I merged them). Abby thinks it woulda been very difficult Sugah."
Hoagie puff outs his chest "Hey, imma all American right here baby."
Abby laughs again "Boy stop, ya know yo grandma would wack ya with her cane, if she heard ya right now. All we had to worry bout is what music ta play, the type of food, and if you wanted to wear a Yamaka or not."
He snorts "If you would of have let me, the ol Hoagster would have definitely worn a Lederhosen, hat included." He suggests, wiggling his brows up and down
Rolling her eyes and punching him lightly in his arm, "Whateva Sugah, as much as Abby woulda loved seein both Abby's sista and yo grandma beat ya to death. Abby is happy you settled on just the Yamaka and tux. Sides you can always wear it latah for Abby." She winks
Hoagie blushes "Bet! But hey, I'm just glad Wally and Kuki finally decided to get hitched, they took waaaay to long."
"Well babe, it ain't from Kuks lack of tryin, Wally's always late on every thang. Heck it wasn't til his junior year of high school dat da boy realized he had a learnin disability. Afta dat he ended up goin to Havard to be a doctor." She shrugs
Abby catches Hoagie, scrolling through his phone. Curious she asks him what he's looking at as she shifts Jr. on her lap.
"Whatcha lookin at Sugha?"
"Hmm, oh… uh just reading another email from Arnez. Looks like they really want me to come back and work for them again. I'm not sure though."
"Aw come on Babe, we already discussed dis and Wally and Kuks already agreed to watch Jr. if we go. Whatcha worried about?"
"Mmm, I don't know… I guess it's just the first time we'll be away from the little guy since he's been born. Nine months is an extremely long time, it's practically a full year." He exclaims, pushing up his glasses to rub the brim of his nose
"Abby knows dat Babe, but memba, dis is spose ta be our honeymoon and vacation as well. Plus, Abby can finally meet yo friends you been tellin Abby about." She urges squeezing his shoulder
Sighing, clasping her hand "Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm sure those two will be fine, also it will give those two a bit of practice themselves. Lord knows, taking care of a two-year-old isn't that easy. Are you sure they will be, okay?" He asks, turning to face his wife
She gives her signature smirk, as she palms his face "Of course Sugah, Kuki is great with kids and Wally took care of his lil brother, Joey, most of the time. Abby's not bothered at all, sides who else do ya trust more with our lil gumdrop? Both our parents are supah busy, yo brother is still in school and my sista is internin as a nurse plus, she has to look afta her own kids too. Yo Grandma isn't there half the time either, no offense, so dat only leaves our best friends… Sweetie, if Abby had to say, this lil one is in the best hands possible." She explains
He laughs, "Alright, alright you've made your point, honey. I'll let Arnez know that I accept and that you will be coming with me this time. I'm sure he'll be more than ecstatic to finally meet you. Oh, oh I can't wait for you to see how cool it is over there. That place is beyond gorgeous, you'd think you've step inside a painting with how beautiful everything is. I mean I know it's cold, but you will get use to that quickly. Besides…you'll have me to keep you warm." He finishes huskily, kissing her lips
Jr starts rustling in his mother's lap, slowly waking up "Hey there bud, I see ya finally woke up, your timing is impeccable as always my dude." He chuckles
Again, Abby punches him in the arm, as he grabs his half-awake son, from her grasp. As the couple continue talking, the duo of the evening emerges in front of them.
"Awww little Hoagie Jr. is awake! Come to auntie Kuki!" She squeals
Kuki had already changed into her evening gown, making it easier for her to move around after the main ceremony had concluded. The pair had gone through multiple wardrobe changes throughout the day, between the traditional Japanese and American style to get all the wedding photos done. Abby had been the maid of honor, wearing a long royal blue silk gown, which all the bridesmaids wore during the photoshoot.
"Oy, who knew these cruddy weddings could be so exhausting. Mate I know you didn't have to go through all that did ya?" Wally Asks, now only in his dress shirt with his vest unbuttoned.
"Naw, dude our wedding was fairly simple compared to yours, plus Abby didn't have to many outfits to change into, so the photoshoot was easy."
"Come on Wally, it wasn't that bad. I know you enjoyed it." Kuki chimes as he continues to mutter
"Hey congrats again you two, Abby thought ya'll had a wonderful ceremony, and Kuks you looked dazzlin Sweetie." She stands to hug her best friend
"Yo, Hoags and I were just talkin about our trip in a few months, do you thank ya'll will still be up to takin care of Jr.? Abby knows it'll be bout a month afta ya'll get back, Abby hopes it isn't too much of a problem."
"Of course, not silly, Wally and I will love to have our nephew stay with us for a few months. He is always a delight to have around.
"Oy don't worry about a thing Sheila, ol Beetles can handle anything. If I can't, my name isn't Wallebee Beetles." He boasts
The couple exchanges glances at each other, hoping they made the right decision.
.
Virginia – 2 months later (W&K)
"Uh huh, uh huh… yep… got it. Abby… abs… ABIGAIL! I got it, Hoagie Jr will be fine silly, I got everything I need, you made sure of that. Now, I'm sure your plane is about to leave soon, and we are almost back to the house. Let Hoagie know that I said, you both need to enjoy this time away. Wally and I got this. If anything happens, which it won't, we will call Cree or Doctor Lincoln. If we need to, we can also get ahold of Ms. Gilligan or Tommy to help us out, plus my family and Wally's are available as well. As I said, we'll be fiiiinnne." Kuki assures her
Sighing "Yeah, Abby knows Kuks…. Abby didn't think she'd be dis worried. Usually, its Hoags who freaks out."
"Hey!" He exclaims from beside her
"It's just hitting Abby now, dat she won't see her lil man fo quite some time now. Sorry Kuks, Abby's just a lil emotional right now."
She looks into the rearview mirror "Its all-good Sweetie, I completely understand, it must be hard to leave your kid for an extensive amount of time. I'd be more weirded out if you didn't get sappy. Abigail, Sweetie…there is nothing to fret about, my precious nephew is currently sleeping and has been this entire car drive. We'll probably go to the park later and I am already making plans to visit both your parents sometime this weekend. But I will let you guys get a move on. Make sure to hit us up when you make it to the mainland, alright?"
"You're right Kuki, we'll chat a bit later Sugah."
Sighing as she finally hung up "Geez, I thought she'd neeever get off the phone. I love the girl, but she and Hoagie need to relax. I never thought I had to say that about Abby, the 'queen' of chill."
"Everything alright Kuks? You seem tense." He says, laying his free hand on top of hers
"Yeah, yeah…. Trying to convince Abby everything will be okay, was just exhausting. Geez, I hope we aren't like that when we become parents."
Wally laughs nervously, "Well, at least we have some time before any of that, eh Kuks."
Kuki giggles 'Aww look how cute my husband is, getting so nervous at the mention of kids.' She thinks
"Yeah, we have a couple of years, but hey we can get a lot of practice with Hoagie Jr here."
They continue their drive home on a relatively drive, oh the shenanigans that are about to happen.
Alaska – Day 1 (A&H)
After a fairly long 12-hour flight, the duo made it do Alaska. Hoagie led them to the small baggage claim area. As they walk into the small crowd, they locate their luggage. After securing the bags the two head for the main lobby. Upon walking through the sliding doors, a young stocky African American man, in a dark green collared shirt with a heavy jacket, military haircut, and boots, starts waving at them.
"Hey, over there is Arnez, come on babe." Hoagie exclaims excitedly
Waving the gentleman came up to Hoagie, giving him a hug "Hey Gilligan, I'm glad you decided to join us this year. You know the offer is always available to come work for us whenever, right? Oh, and who is this lovely lady here?" He asks, grabbing Abby's hand, kissing it
Hoagie smiles, with mock anger "Whoa now, this is my wife Abigail, or Abby for short. Abby, this Technical Sergeant Johnson, or Arnez, which will be easier to remember." He introduces them
"How's it going Babe, it's nice to finally meet ya. Fly boy here use to talk bout ya non-stop when he first got home. Mmm, mmm, mmm now Abby's got a face to the name, and ya ain't half bad lookin either."
"Hey, I'm right here." He pouts, crossing his arms
She laughs "Chill Hoags, you're the only man for Abby." She pecks him on the cheek, as she grabs his arm
"Well, I know my wife Jackie, will be glad to meet you. She was a big fan of your husband, so I'm sure you two will hit it off as well. Ey, I hope you didn't forget Gilligan, that you and I have a rematch for our hotdog eating contest. Let's get you two into the vehicle, before you freeze to death."
"Oh, trust me my dude, I did not forget. I have been practicing with my buddy Wally every other month."
"If dat ain't the truth, Abby thought Hoags was done with Chili dogs. But Abby, guesses you're the culprit dat got him started again."
He laughs, holding his hands up "Guilty as charged ma'am, apologies on my behalf. It's just where we are located, it's one of the best food choices around."
"Child, as long as ya take responsibility fo his weight, it's alright with Abby. Now befo we go, Abby needs to let Kuki know we are alright."
Taking out her phone, thumbing out a quick text. Still, she was a bit concerned, but she did trust her friends completely. She just hoped her son didn't give them hell.
Virginia – 3 months (W&K)
Some time passes and little Hoagie, has been slowly warming up to his aunt and uncle. He still misses his parents, but often he could go a few days without asking about them. The first month had been hard on everyone involved. Jr would cry off and on throughout the day asking for either mommy or daddy. Wally had almost been at his wits end, with trying to find something to calm the child down. Kuki found the only thing to keep him occupied was spending time with his grandparents. Even though she didn't want to bother them too often, it became a weekly ritual to visit one or both sets of grandparents, sometimes both would come and visit their home. Today, was a special day as Hoagie Jr was happy to play with his Rainbow Monkey puzzle. His aunt and uncle on the other hand were beyond tired, Wally more so since he was still in university and working a part time job. Kuki laid out on the sectional couch as Jr. plays with his puzzle on coffee table. As she laid there her phone buzzes.
* Oye, wat do u want for din? Or r u cookin?
* Chinese is good, stop by McDs for a kid's meal
* Gotcha luv
As soon as she went to place her phone down, she gets a video call. Thinking it was from her husband she answers immediately. The image that came across, wasn't of Wally, but of Abby with Hoagie in the background.
Sitting up she answers "Oh! Hey guys, long time no see!" She giggles
"Hey Kuks, it's been a while. Sorry Abby couldn't keep in touch with ya. Girl, how's eveythang been goin? Is Jr doin alright? Is he eatin well? How is he sleepin?" Abby questions
"Abby…slow down girl, Jr. is doing oooookay, the first month was kinda rocky, but he calmed down a lot since then. We visit your parents a ton and that makes him happy. How is everything over there, have you been sightseeing and how are you two doing?"
"Aww, Abby is sorry dat he is puttin ya'll through the ringah. Hoagie and I couldn't wait to call and check up on ya. We are fine gurl, and yes Abby has done a bit of sightseein. Gurl, this place is amazin, Abby can see why Hoags enjoyed it so much. We've been able to chillax a bit, gurl it was a great idea to use dis a honeymoon."
"Plus, there is less pollution and people around here. The food is great, and we have less noise around too." Hoagie chimes in, showing his face on the screen
"Do you want to talk to Jr? He is just over here putting a puzzle together."
Kuki brings Hoagie Jr. over to the couch, so he could talk to his parents. He climbs into her lap as they chat together for a few hours. Abby and Hoagie, listen to their son's tales of his day-to-day adventures with his guardians and grandparents. While the conversation went on, Wally made his home with dinner. He greets his longtime friends as he partitions the food onto plates. Eventually the call came to an end, and so Jr became fussy, even though his parents tell him to be a big boy and stay out of trouble for aunt Kuki and Uncle Wally.
"Hey Champ, come to the table. I got ya some nuggets, now you have to eat to become big and strong like your uncle Wally and your dad, right?"
Jr nods, while sniffling "Unca Walle… can I wealle be stwong like you and papa?"
"Oy, you can mate. Just do what your uncle does and soon you'll be a tough young lad." Wally flexes his muscles
Jr smiles "Ok Unca Walle." He staggers over to the dining room table
Wally rustles a few tufts of his messy black hair, lifting him up tossing him in the air before placing him in his booster seat. Kuki comes over to the table, mouthing a thank you to her husband, as she joins them at the table.
Alaska – (A&H)
"See…Jr is doing well, I told you there was nothing to fuss about. Now that we are on the mainland for a few weeks, what would you like to do, my love?" Hoagie asks
"Abby's not sure Sugah, what is there to do now dat we are back here?"
"Hmm, I use to walk the trails just to look at the scenery and wildlife. When I was with the guys, they'd take me down to the local tavern, where we'd play billiards, cards, or darts. Honestly, there isn't much do whether we are out in 'D' Zone or on the port. Unless you are a big fan of hunting, it's really condensed into only a few activities. There are tons of shops around though, if you want to go shopping a bit. Hey! How about we go on a sled ride later, there is a lodge we can stay at for a few days if you'd like." Hoagie informs
"Sounds like fun Babe, but Abby thought we were gonna meet up with Arnez?
"Yeah, but it's nothing but a quick call and we can reschedule. I am pretty sure he will understand that we'd want to spend time, with just the two of us…you know."
"I feel ya Babe, dis is probably the first time we'll have uninterrupted by ya havin to go to work. Abby says lead the way Sugah."
"Sweet, right this way milady, your chariot awaits." He led them to a nearby cabin with a small awning. Under the overhang were a couple of Huskies lounging around.
Talking with the manager, arranging the sled tour, and then he finally organizes the drop off at the Keystone Lodge. After a quick call to Arnez, they grab their bags, making sure their snowshoes were secured to their feet, parkas and baklavas in place, the two settle into the spacious sleigh. The wait was short, as the sled driver took a finale check of the dogs and equipment. Light greens, blues, and orange paint the evening sky as the sled speeds across the landscape. The two huddle together keeping the biting wind at bay as much as they could. On the way a few bears and foxes were littered about here and there. After all the mushing about they reach the Keystone Lodge before it got too late in the evening.
"Whew, dat was some ride. Abby neva knew there were so many different types of animals round here."
Waving his hand across his body "Here we are, the Keystone Lodge, one of the best resorts on the mainland. Let's go get checked in, then we can drop off our stuff in the room. After that we can go down to the restaurant or room service… your choice, dear."
Room ensured, they take the elevator up to the room and drop their luggage. After waiting a good ten to fifteen minutes, they start to shed all their protective cold weather gear, removing each item carefully. Each item had to be removed slowly as to not to damage any part of their skin due to the freezing temperatures.
"Dang, no matter how many times I do this, it still scares me. I don't want to accidentally rip my face off or something." Hoagie shutters
"Well now dat we have successfully escaped tearin off our skin, and bravin the cold how bout we warm up a lil. What do ya say, Hun?" Abby suggests, wrapping her arms around her husband's neck.
"Hmm, I like where this is heading, how about we move this to a much more comfortable place." He winks as he starts to kiss his wife.
Alaska – 6 Months (A&H)
"Hey Hoags, have you seen Abby's snow boots? Abby coulda sworn she left them by the door."
"Hmm, let me think… I think you left them in the bedroom, love. After you came back from hanging with Jackie last night, you were so tired that you collapsed on the bed, shoes and all." He chuckles
"Duh, why didn't Abby think of dat, sometimes Abby's head's all ova the place. What would Abby do without ya Hoags?"
"Um, let me think… probably die of boredom or freeze to death. Hmm, for some reason, I feel like I've said that before." He thinks placing his hand on his chin, with the other on his hip
Rolling her eyes. "Right, right… The all mighty Hoagster relieva of boredom n freezing to death. Whateva Flyboy… let's finish up packin. Membah we are headin out to the mainland tomorra."
He laughs, "Yeah, I know, we have to make another supply run, we can also check up on the gang and see how Jr is doing. It has been quite a while since we had the chance to communicate with everyone. Junior is already three years old, it kinda sucks that we missed his birthday."
She yawns "I know Sugah, but we can absolutely make it up to our lil lemon drop when we get home. Abby is sure, he'll like the gifts we bring em."
Hoagie sits on the double bed, that was a part of the cabin they stayed in.
"Hey Abs, come here. That can wait until later, you still seem tired." He beckons her over, simultaneously holding out his arms
Reluctantly she gives in, "Hmm, Abby knows she slept like the dead last night. Abby doesn't know why she's still so tired." She yawns again, embracing Hoagie as he laid them both down onto the bed.
Lightly kissing her in various places as he states, "You know… we can do this later, we have plenty of time. Right now, I want you to relax and take a nap. If you are tired you should rest, there isn't anything that pressing that you need to be doing right now anyway. Now, sleep my queen." Giving her one last kiss, he pulls his wife closer to him.
Virginia – (K&W)
"Yo, when is this cruddy movie gonna start? We've been waitin fifteen minutes with all these bloody trailers already." Wally grumbles
Kuki, not so gently, slaps Wally upside his head, "Wally, language! He absorbs everything you say, silly."
"Eh, it ain't my fault these dodgy movie theaters take too freakin long, to get to the point. Bloody, money hungry… Ow… quit hittin meh woman, I'm just sayin is all."
The trio sat in the cinema, waiting for the new showing of the Trolls 2: World Tour movie. The couple thought it would be fun to take Jr to the movies, since Wally had the day off. As the months passed, Junior became more comfortable staying with his aunt and uncle. Very few and far between did he whine asking when his mom and dad would come home. He really enjoyed the birthday party that they thew for him a month back, all his other family members were there, including cousins he rarely got to see. Wally had also, gotten him his very own slingshot, which Jr still didn't know how to use properly, but Wally still tries to teach him when he could. He carried it everywhere, just like the hat he got from his mom, and the goggles he inherited from his dad. Junior started to idolize his uncle more and more each day. Eventually, the movie starts, and the trio get cozy enjoying the entertainment.
Afterwards…
Hoagie Jr squeals as he tries to run away from his uncle Wally. However, he was not fast enough to escape the grown man. Wally scoops him up as they tumble around in the grass. The two roll about as he began a tickle war with his nephew. Hoagie's laughs range throughout the park. As the two play, Kuki sits on a nearby bench watching her nephew and husband roughhouse together. She smiles, hoping one day he would be doing the same with their own kids.
She laments, 'I wonder, does Wally want a boy too or would he be more of the guy who wants a little princess. Oh, oh… I wonder who they will look like? Honestly, I am surprised we never really talked about these kinds of things. Hmmm Wally has always been, so conservative about his preferences." She continues to daydream about her future kids with Wally
Kuki gets pulled out of her fantasy, by the shriek of the young Gilligan. "Crud, I missed Unca Walle!"
She looks over and see the two playing with his slingshot." She shouts "How many times have I told you to watch what you say, now look. You have him saying such words."
Wally groans, picking up his nephew, placing him on his shoulder he rushes around the park away from his screaming wife. 'Bloody hell, looks like I'll be in the doghouse tonight.' He reflects
"Oy sport, time to make a run for it, your aunt is gonna kill meh." He bellows.
Alaska – 9 Months (A&H)
Arnez turns off the vehicle after the semi long drive from the couple's cabin. Once again, he was dropping off his good friend, whom he may not see again for some time.
"Well, here we are. Let me help you guys get your bags so it'll be easier to get checked in at the desk."
"Thanks bud, I really appreciate all you have done for us, thanks for having us and treating us well. You have really been a great help, too bad you still lost at the hotdog eating competition for a second time."
"Oh, stuff it Gilligan, we all know that you have two separate stomachs. There is just no way, you can eat that many chili dogs, and keep going. Its unheard-of man."
He laughs, pulling the man into a hug, "I wouldn't say all that, but yeah, I can really eat a lot, always have since I was a kid. However, I try not to because Abby worries about my weight, so I have too as well."
"You have mighty fine wife there, Gilligan. Make sure you take care of the Misses; she surely will need your help."
Hoagie made his way to the passenger side, as he wakes his wife, "Hey Sweetheart, time to go, you can sleep on the plane. Lord knows the flight is long enough." He helps her out of the car
"Thanks, Sugah… Abby is grateful fo the help. All Abby wanna do, is sleep all day n snuggle up with her lil cinnabun. It will be so good to see him in person."
"Trust me Abs, I can't wait either, this vacation has been fun, but I do miss the little guy."
Putting the bags on his back and one in his other hand, he takes his friends hand to give him a final handshake.
Abby moves from her husband's side, giving Arnez one last hug, "Thanks Babe, Abby really preciate ya warm welcome. Tell Jackie dat Abby will miss her, hopefully we can meet in the future. Maybe next time, how about ya'll come visit us in Virginia, dat way we can take care of ya'll dis time."
"Oh, will do Miss, it's been too long since we've been out of Alaska. I am sure my wife will be thrilled to take you up on your offer. Now, take care of Gilligan for me and you guys have a safe trip." He waves them off as he walks to the driver side of the vehicle
Hurrying to his wife, he grabs her side so that she could lean on him for additional support. Hoagie leads her to a nearby row of chairs, as he checks their luggage. Making his way back, he takes a seat beside Abby.
"Looks like we are all checked in and ready to go. Soon we'll be soaring through the sky, making our way back to civilization to the hustle and bustle of suburban living."
"Boy hush, it's been a nice few months away, Abby really enjoyed dis break. It's been far too long since we could truly be alone." She lays her head on his shoulder
"I understand, but now I need to get you home so that you can kick your feet up and rest." He states, putting his arm around her waist, resting his hand on her midsection
"Chillax Sugah, Abby is fine, sides I doubt Jr will really let either of us relax much. Abby is sho he will be clingin to us, like taffy. Abby already left Kuks a message sayin dat we be boardin the plane soon. She hasn't told Jr, so it'd be a big surprise to the lil gumdrop."
"Either way, it'll be great to get home, then we recreate our time at the lodge once I get you alone in our own bed." He whispers in her ear
She shudders, "Abby is sho we can make dat happen… but if ya don't quit it, Abby don't think she can wait until we get home." Biting her lip, she continues to snuggle
He snorts, "Shoot if I were an exhibitionist, I'd surely take you right here and now."
The couple cuddle in the airport waiting for their flight to start boarding.
Virginia – (W&K)
A knock rattles the bathroom door, "Oy Kuks, hurry up or we'll be late. Jr's almost ready, gotta get his coat an finna put him in his car seat."
She sighs, "Sounds good, Honey… just give me a second. I will be out soon." She assures him
Getting up as she hears his footsteps reside, making her way to the sink. Her eyes shift from her watch to her hands.
Groaning, 'Geez, this feels like the longest minute of my life…'
She waits, tapping her foot impatiently. Another light rap brought her out of her musing.
Jumping slightly, she calls out as she grabs her bag placing items inside, "Alright already, I heard you the first time."
Unlocking the door, she rushes out, following her husband out the door.
"Well, if ya, didn't take your time with all yo woman stuff, we wouldn't be running late." He grumbles
"Now traffics gonna be a freakin terror." He complains
Rolling her eyes, "Wally, puhlease stop exaggerating. For one, we are actually leaving at a decent time, two it's a Sunday and there aren't many people on the road." She gestures to the street to prove her point
"Plus, as long as Junior is quiet, we can have a nice enjoyable ride, with a big surprise!" She squeaks
Now it was his turn to roll his eyes, at his ever-optimistic wife "Whatever, but if I see any spot of traffic, I'm blaming you woman." He smirks
She giggles, "Of course I'll be sure to take all the blame. What will my punishment be?" she asks sweetly
Wally blushes furiously, as he clears his throat "Uh…um Kuks, th…there's a kit here. We probably shouldn't uh…talk about that." He stutters
Slyly she teases him, "I'm sorry honey, but bad girls need to be punished… don't you think?" she whispers into his ear.
He croaks, "Do you want me to make it to the airport or not? I'll turn this cruddy car around right now!"
She laughs, "No silly, keep driving… if we did that, we'd really would be late… not that I mind." She winks
He groans, 'Bloody hell, this woman is going to be the death of meh. But a blokes gotta admit, I'm one lucky bastard." He smirks
The drive to the airport happened to be very uneventful. Hoagie Jr played on his tablet, which kept him entertained throughout. Fortunately, or unfortunately for the couple, there wasn't any traffic, so the 45-minute drive passes without incident. Pulling into the airport parking lot, Wally parks his jeep as Kuki releases Jr from his confinements. Ready to go, the trio trudge into the airport in search for their friends.
"Do you know which airline; they were arriving on?
"Uh huh, it should be Spirit, that was the last thing Abby mentioned to me."
The two continue to look around, looking for Spirit flights on the various monitors
"Oh, it says baggage claim is thata way. Doesn't look like we can go further than this, so we'll just have to keep an out for those blokes." Wally informs
A good twenty-minute pass as the couple wait. Wally plays with Hoagie trying to keep him busy. Eventually Kuki spots the pair pushing their luggage with a baggage cart.
Jumping excitedly, she waves, "Hey, hey…we're over here."
Jr. wiggles out of his uncle's arms as he runs to his parents, "Mama, mamma!"
Putting her bag aside Abby bends down, holding her arms open "Hey Sugah, didjah miss us? Hmmm? We sho did miss you baby." She states, giving him a hug
Hoagie helps his wife stand, as she had some difficulty with the added weight.
"Hey bud, don't I get a hug too? Dad missed ya too, ya know."
Hoagie scoops up his son as Wally and Kuki make their way over. Each couple greets the other.
"Welcome back you two, how was the flight? Hopefully not too bad, I know how those long ones can be sometimes." Kuki asks
"Abby didn't think it was too bad, just a bit uncomfortable to say the least. Honestly, most of da long ones usually are."
"Ey let's get ya to the car we can talk on the road. We'll order some grub on the way, I'm sure ya'll are probably starving." Wally suggests
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, lot less work than having to go shopping as soon as we get home." Hoagie agrees
"Nonsense, you know you guys are staying with us tonight. Tomorrow, we can drop you guys off at your house. It's already been a long day, so rest up tonight." Kuki proclaims
The group heads to the airport parking lot, in search of Wally's jeep. They load up the trunk with luggage as soon as they find it. Everyone piles in, after a quick check to make sure Jr. is buckled up, off they went back to the Beetles' home. After the hour drive, they arrive home. The Gilligans left most of the bags in the car, only taking essential items for the remainder of the night.
"Oy pizza should be here in about 20, so ya can get washed up in the spare room and put ya things away. Kuks and I'll handle everything else."
"Will do, it is getting pretty warm. I think we are over dressed here, compared to being in Alaska. Dropping a few layers wouldn't hurt. Come on Abs, I'll help ya with your shoes and coat." Hoagie offers as they head to the room
Everyone downgrades, changing into more comfortable attire, meeting in the dining room to wait for dinner. Having changed into a white pullover with tan cargo shorts, Hoagie enters the room holding Jr. in his arms, beside him Abby wore a blue zip up hoodie and black sweatpants. As soon as Hoagie sets his son down, he rushes over to his uncle showing him the new toy his dad gave to him.
"Unca Walle, unca Walle… Look at wat papa got me!" He yells excitedly
Wally bends down to greet the lad, "Oy, what do you have er mate?"
"Looks it's an aewoplane… see, see!"
"Yeah, I see it, sport. Pretty nice model ya got there." Wally whistles
Kuki waltzes out from the kitchen hearing Hoagie Jr. making a fuss, joining the rest of the crew as they watch Hoagie play with his toy.
"So, 'ow was your lil honeymoon? Enjoy your time away from this 'ol hell hole?" Wally asks, receiving a smack oh the head from his wife, in the process
"Oh, it was awesome! Dude, we saw this humongous moose, its antlers were so freaking huge. We also stayed in this nice cabin lodge for a few weeks, then Arnez and I got completely smashed on Chili dogs and Heineken. Of course, I beat him… it was no contest." Hoagie says with a smirk
As the men continue to talk about the epicness of wildlife, sports, beer, and chili dogs, Kuki pulls up aseat next to Abby at the dining room table.
"Soooo, how was it really?" She asks slyly, knowing full well Abby will give her the romantic deets even if she didn't ask
Chuckling softly, Abby just waves her off, "Girl, you already know… Like Hoags said, we spent some time at a fancy 'ol resort. Pretty nice if ya ask Abby, we got there by sleigh and the place was gorgeous. It was an 'ol ski resort, but most people seem to be there fo the sightseein, fishin, or huntin. Abby will say… it's a good thang we did our sightseeing befor hand. We didn't really leave the room much." Blushing faintly
Kuki squeaks, as Abby just rolls her eyes, "To be fair, I doubt many newlyweds ever leave their hotels. Shoot the only reason Wally and I did, is because I had to introduce him to the extended family." She shakes her head, "I still don't know why I let my parents convince me, it'd be a good idea to go on vacation to Japan."
The doorbell rings as they all talk. Abby removed her jacket, getting more comfortable as the pair converse. Kuki continues to grumble about family obligations and traditions. Abby's completely engulfed into Kuki's ramblings, when she notices her friend pause.
Looking over, she sees her best friend wide-eyed, "Kuks, you, okay?" Abby waves a hand in front of her face.
Gasping "Noo! Abby you're…!" She squeals
Looking at her with confusion, Abby instantly realizes what Kuki was going on about.
With her signature smirk she leans back, responding, "Yeah… it kinda…just happened." She shrugs
Wally walks into the room, "Hey Kuks, do you have change? Gotta pay the bugger for the food."
Waving him off, "Yeah, yeah… check my bag."
Walking off, Wally finds his wife's bag by the door. Rummaging through it he finds a few bills and...
Pulling out what he assumes is a pen, 'What the hell is…'
A loud thud resonates through the room. The trio quickly make their way to the sound only to find Wally sprawled out on the hallway floor. Hoagie rushes to make sure he is okay, checking his pulse and breathing. As he reaches for his wrist, he notices the money and a familiar looking plastic stick. Giving it a once over, he hands it to Kuki. Picking up his friend with a small heave, he takes him over to the couch, stopping to whisper to his wife. Abby walks over to Kuki, as Hoagie returns, to finish paying for their dinner for the night.
Abby places a hand on her best friend's shoulder, "Hey Kuks, you alright?"
Kuki turns, giving Abby a hug, bouncing slightly, "Abby! Abby… I'm…"
"Yes, girl… Abby knows." She smiles at her friend fondly
Kuki looks over to her husband, letting out a small laugh. Turning back to her friends, she points to Wally.
Letting out a small sigh as she smiles, "I figured that would happen."
Placing the small object, with two pink lines on the kitchen counter; they decided to eat, while they waited on Wally to wake up from his impromptu nap. Then, they would discuss the big new about the upcoming changes to their families.
Well, that wraps up that. It was really fun going back and revisiting this one. If you want to see how Kuki and Wally fair at becoming a family, let me know. I'd be more than up to writing about their family struggles, even though I know their personalities are a bit hard for me to write. Also, one day I'll go into detail on both couple's weddings
