Harper looked around at the destructions. She didn't mean to do this. She got angry. She held her anger for so long, and it just snapped. She looked around her. Everything was destroyed around her. The back yard was destroyed.
She heard the sirens. A neighbor must've heard everything that happened. She quickly stood and went out to the front yard. She held herself as her parents came driving up behind the police. Her mother ran out of the car, and ran to her.
"Harper! What happened?" Her mother asked her. Harper realized that she was crying when her mom wiped her tears. "I.. They wouldn't leave me alone. I went home and... I didn't mean to mama." She told her mom.
Her mom paled as she realized what has happened.
Her parents went to the police and had her go inside while they spoke to them. Harper could feel a buzz inside her again. Wanting to come out. But she held it down. Putting it in a crate with a lock in her mind like she always did till it became to much like last time.
After getting a shower to clean everything off, she made her way to go down the stairs, but stopped when she heard voices.
"She's a heathen. Look at how she dresses. How she acts. She is practically a devil worshiper. We love you two. But I'm sorry. That daughter of yours... We don't feel safe with her around." It was Karry from the church.
Harper's eyes filled with tears again hearing the words. She knew she was hated in town. People went out of her way to make her feel their hate. Some would tell her to her face that she was the child of the devil.
But she was a good person. No one understood that though. She was a good person with a caring heart. Just wanting to be normal, to be cared about. To not be seen as a freak.
But ever since she started her first period at the age of eleven, something changed inside her. She was able to do things without touching them. She just couldn't control it well. So, her family told her to tuck it away.
But the only thing was, when she tucked it away, it would soon break apart and explode. Just like today.
"Karry. I hear what you're saying. We are taking care of it. She is a good person. She really is." Her father told the woman. Harper didn't need to see the woman to know that Karry rolled her eyes at her fathers words.
"She is tainted. A witch. The devils whore. We don't need her here." Karry continued. "Karry. This is our daughter you are talking about." Her father hated how people talked about his daughter. But he also understood their fear, as he felt it as well.
His daughter was the devil. His religion told him so.
"We have a friend who is in need of help. So, we are having her go over there for a bit. She will be a new young woman when she returns." Her mother told Karry. This was the first time Harper heard about this.
Were her parents just telling Karry this to get her to go home? Or was this the truth?
"You better get rid of this devil child." Karry warned before leaving.
Harper was soon called down to her parents. That's when she was told that she was going away for the summer to help a family friend she didn't really know.
