Chapter 2

"And that, little cub, is how you came to me." The mother-wolf told her adopted daughter, a tall, skinny, naked teenage of around 13 years old with short brunette hair and wearing absolutely nothing. Her mother, Raksha, has just finished her story of how the girl came to the island, lying to her that she was the only child who came.

"That is my favorite story, mother." A naked brunette girl told her wolf mother, petting her.

"I know. I have only told it to you one hundred times." Raksha told her in response.

"And I want to hear it one hundred more." The girl said before dashing off.

"Stay close. Though it appears small, the isle is deceiving. It is much bigger than all of us." Raksha warned her. "You have grown so much throughout the years, little cub."

"I am not so little anymore, mother." The naked girl answered, running as her mother-wolf caught up with her.

"Maybe so," Raksha answered as she passed the girl. "But I am still faster! We have gone far enough, my cub."

Just then, the naked girl heard a noise and saw Bagheera sitting on a rock, watching them.

"Well, what are you looking at?" the girl boldly asked the female panther.

"Mowglii!" Raksha scolded her, but the naked girl ignored her.

"If you have something to say, say it!" the girl, Mowglii rudely demanded. Bagheera, however, sat there and said nothing.

"Mowglii, we should not be here, let's go home." Raksha ordered.

"Stupid panther." Mowglii scoffed and went off with her mother. Bagheera still just sat there and watched the wolf and naked teenage girl disappeared among the tropical trees and bushes.

"Mowglii, that temper of yours, it will get you into trouble someday." Raksha lectured Mowglii. "Confronting Bagheera like that."

But Mowglii did not listen to her mother as she wondered off deep into the jungle, not noticed by Raksha who returned to the pack, re-joining with her mate Rama and other wolves. Little did she know that the wolves were watched by tiger scouts.

Thirteen years ago:

"That was a noble thing you did, Bagheera." Raksha told Bagheera once they brought Mowglii, back then a naked toddler to the pack. "Look how easily they all dispersed with just a few words. The fight had gone on too long. We just needed an excuse to stop. And it was a good thing to save these cubs' lives."

"I could care less for the cubs' safety." Bagheera answered.

"Enough blood had been shed. The opportunity arose and I took it. Nothing more!" she snarled at Mowglii, who was playing with the panther's tail. Raksha, seeing this, approached and nuzzled the naked girl, who began touching her in retaliation, giggling.

"If you care for its safety, do not tell it about the others." Bagheera added before departing. "Keep to your corner of the isle. As long as the tribes of the jungle are apart, this fragile peace will endure."

Present day

Mowglii was sneaking through the jungle, carefully pushing the bushes aside. The naked teenage girl immediately saw a huge black bear, his back facing her. The bear didn't notice her as he was busy, his head merged into a tree hollow, obviously searching for honey left by the wild bees. Mowglii tried to approach the bear, only for her to step on a wooden stick, breaking it in half with her barefoot. Alerted of another presence, the bear left the hollow alone and turned around. Once it saw the naked teenage girl, the bear filled the whole Kipling Island with a thunderous roar as it approached the naked Mowglii on its two feet.

"If it is a fight you want, beast… then come and fight me!" Mowglii told the bear.

"The jungle is full of noise, but this is not the time to add it." Shere Khan whispered to his son, a fully naked teenage boy with slightly long brown hair, thin, but muscled arms, while the forearm of his left arm was covered with the skin of a tiger's paw, used as a glove. "Break not a blade of grass. Let them bend aside."

"This one is yours, Bomani. Do not fail." The white tiger added as he, the naked boy, Bomani, and the other tigers were hiding in the grass, watching an antelope that was eating green. With a yell, Bomani leaped from his hiding place, eager to attack the antelope, who was quick to react and dash off. Bomani ran after. Despite scratching the antelope's back with this claw-glove, Bomani stumbled and fell onto the ground, allowing the prey to escape. Once the naked boy got up, panting, he was already approached by Shere Khan and the streak.

"You wear the claw of a great warrior of the tiger clan, fallen in the great animal battle. I hoped they would be showered with the blood of hunt." Shere Khan muttered. "But you fail, every time."

"Shere Khan believes you will lead us if he were ever to fall, Bomani." One of the tigers spoke to the naked teenager once their white-furred leader left.

"Some leader." Another tiger said with sarcasm before they followed Shere Khan. Bomani stood in the middle of the field in all his naked glory when he heard a noise from above. He looked up and saw a vulture circling him. Bomani scoffed in annoyance. His father, Shere Khan, always told him that eating rotten corpses was low for most animals, even for wolves, the sworn enemies of the tigers, and that only jackals and vultures fed on them. Bomani despised these animals.

"Such a tease you are." The vulture mocked the naked boy. "Or mayhap, such a fool am I to think I'll ever get to scrap off of one of your kills, failed tiger."

"Come closer, Rann. And you will be my prey, scrap-picker." Bomani told the vulture before throwing a rock at him, only to miss.

"Unlikely. Highly unlikely." Rann the vulture laughed as he flew away. Left alone once again, the naked Bomani carved a line on his right arm with his claw.
