Chapter 5
Mowglii is on her way to find and fight the Tiger clan. Meanwhile, a new faction appears.
"You move like a pregnant wildebeest. You can come out now." Mowglii yelled with frustration after hours of running around the jungle naked, armed with two spears and a bamboo stick. Sighing deeply, Baloo emerged from the tropical bushes.
"My intent was not meant to be stealthy. I was just trying to catch up." Baloo defended himself. "So what is your plan, cub? Wander the jungle, happen into the tigers' den and take them all on?"
"If I find them, that is exactly what I will do." Mowgli answered darkly.
"Big words from such a little cub. If words were tooth and claw, I would believe that. But the Shere tribe is a formidable force in this jungle."
"This will even the odds." Mowglii hissed at the bear as she barely touched the bear's skin with her spear. She then pulled it away, scowling.
"Do you where the den is?" the naked girl asked in frustration.
"I know most of the jungle isle, cub." Baloo answered.
"The you are of some use after all." Mowglii grumbled. "And why did Grey Brother and Won Tolla not follow?"
"Won Tolla attends to Grey Brother. He should not be moving in his condition." Baloo explained when he suddenly asked. "Do you hear that?"
"Um… no."
"Exactly. There is nothing. No sound." Baloo told the naked girl. "The jungle is never this quiet."
"Is that fear in the might Baloo's voice?" Mowglii mocked the adult bear, who explained that they were in the section of the jungle where animals of sense do not enter. The two approached a weeping tree, sensing something suspicious was behind the pendulums. Pulling them aside, the bear and the naked girl shrieked in fear at what they saw. The tree trunk was covered with crucified human skeletons, with bones and skulls of other animals added to them in a twisted way.
"This… this is a twisted place." Mowglii finally took the courage to speak.
"Mowglii, we should not…"
Just then, a roar was heard around them. Both Mowglii and Baloo looked around with a mixture of alert, panic, and fear. Mowglii took her fighting stance, ready to tackle any coming threat when suddenly, furred arms appeared out of the trees and grabbed her at once. The naked girl cried out for help as the arms pulled up the tree.
"Mowglii!" Baloo roared. "Leave her be!"
The bear tried to reach her, but she was already too her. Without any other choice, Baloo yelled at the unseen kidnappers to give her back until the naked girl was out of his sight, leaving him all alone.
As Mowglii was slowly regaining her consciousness, the first thing she heard was someone strangely talking.
"Be it live? Be it dead?"
"Skinny one, is it not?" another voice asked.
"Not really worth the meal." A third, deep voice answered. "It will be fun to play with, though."
Moaning, Mowglii opened her eyes and the first thing she was a capuchin wearing an eye patch leaning near her head as she was hanging upside down and tied up.
"It wakey-wakey!" the capuchin exclaimed, which was followed by multiple screams and howls. Mowglii looked around and was shocked. She immediately understood that she was somewhere inside, made of metal and wood, with some holes allowing the sunlight to enter the place. However, Mowglii also realized that she was taken by the Monkey tribe as the various monkeys and apes ranging from gorillas and baboons to capuchins, langurs, emperor tamarins and marmosets surrounded her. They were all wearing clothes of the dead sailors while the girl was fully naked. She then saw an obese langur with golden fur appeared, pushing aside a chimpanzee wearing boots in his hands, flanked by two gorillas wearing black sailor coats, which were partly torn due to the apes' size too large for them. The langur was wearing a vest, a black belt and a scarlet bandana on his head with a golden earring on his right ear. He was shrieking and ringing a small bell.
"Welcome to Bandar Log, plaything!" The langur exclaimed. "You may bow, if you wish, to Bandar Louis, the true king of the jungle."
"I said you may bow!" the langur shrieked as he rang his bell, with the apes and monkeys bowing in front of Bandar Louis. Mowglii looked at the whole scene disturbed as she heard the primates murmuring.
"Is good to bow."
"Bowing and bowing."
"Ahhh, you are too kind to Bandar Louis. Too, too kind." Bandar Louis chuckled wildly. "And I reward kindness."
With that, the langur, dressed like a pirate, through numerous grapes and fruits to his troop, or crew, as they were inside what remained of a ship. The primates began savagely eating the fruits, shoving them inside their mouths while shrieking and howling at the same time.
"The treasure." A chimpanzee said.
"More! More!" a baboon yelled.
"You love your Bandar Louis."
"Do anything for Bandar Louis!" a black-crowned squirrel monkey squealed as he appeared right in front of the girl's face.
"The treasure make everything good." Another chimpanzee roared, while a gorilla was hitting his chest.
"This is madness." The naked girl whispered, obviously shocked from this scene. Suddenly, a naked boy appeared with auburn hair appeared before Mowglii, grinning at the tied girl. Aside from the primates that wore clothing, the boy was as naked as the captive girl in front of him. Curious, the boy began poking the poor girl's face as he held grapes in another hand.
"Ahh, Dewan!" Bandar Louis exclaimed. "How nice of you to share, my boy."
Hearing this, the boy, Devan, offered the grapes to Mowglii, only for the girl to spit them back at his face. Obviously offended, Devan, with a malevolent grin, grabbed a nearby naval dirk at placed it at the girl's throat.
"Ooooh, it looks like Dewan wants to play." Bandar Louis said with excitement as Mowglii squirmed in fear, understanding that she was now on the brink of death.
