Many people have heard stories of heroes with no powers. Stories of people with no powers who are gifted by another powers. This isn't that story, this is a different story. This is the story of someone who has no powers, but that isn't what's important. What's important is that they had the heart of a hero, even if everyone was against her. This tale starts just south of Mustafu, where a young girl named Izumi was born, on a dock where a small fishing boat was coming to a stop with a small form sitting on a small wooden box with chipped green paint.
"Hey girl, sure we don't need to call the police or heroes?" the captain asked, walking to me.
"No, I'm good. Thanks for getting me off of Lian Lu," I said, standing up and grabbing my box.
I walked off the boat and down the docks to the path up to the city. I walked up the path and steeled my resolve for my plan to remove the poison in my nation. My plan I created five years ago when I was with my mother and father on a ship he got tickets to from his work on I-Island.
*Five Years Ago*
"Woah this ship is so amazing!" I said as I walked on glass that showed the sea floor below us.
"We should be grateful I got these tickets. Originally David Shield was supposed to come on but he had something come up and offered them to me," my father said.
"Well, I am certainly glad," my mother said.
"So, why don't we go up top and I can show you what I made for this thing," dad said, smirking.
"Yeah!" I said, excited to see what my father had created.
He led my mother and I up to the main level where people were partying about the ship they had created on the waters. He led us to a place near the back and showed us some boxes.
"These are evacuation boats. The moment they hit water they expand and unfold to carry roughly seven people along with food for them for a week," he said.
"That's amazing!" I said. "You'll help so many people! Like a hero!"
"No, heroes prevent accidents, I just repair them," he said.
The ship then violently shook and a large crack formed down the middle in the back. I looked back at my father and mother before I felt the floor fall out from under me and my vision was filled with darkness.
*Presently*
I found the address I was given and looked up unimpressed at the small dingy door that was in front of me.
"He said this was supposed to be a club," I muttered, looking around before knocking on the door.
"Girl, I'm sorry but we aren't a charity," a woman wearing a dress with laces.
"Oli sent me," I sighed, watching her face go from annoyance to as alert as possible.
"Who sent you?" she asked.
"Oliver told me to come to your club and gave me this address, Speedy," I said, remembering the name he used.
"Follow me," she said, leading me into the hall and through a door to the side.
The door led to a small closet where she hit something and the back wall slid up to reveal stairs down. She led me down the stairs to an open room where some computers came to life and a light revealed a red leather suit with a hood and a bow and quiver.
"You really did help the Green Arrow," I muttered.
"Alright, let's start off with names. I'm Thea Queen," she said.
"Izumi Midoriya, and my story is a bit weird but similar to your brother's," I said.
"How?" she asked, sitting down.
"Quick version, I was on that ship from I-Island that sank with my family and woke up on the shore of an island," I started.
*Five Years Ago*
I woke up and looked around to see I was on a beach. I got up and noticed my clothes were in tatters. I walked along the beach as the sun shone down on me.
"How did you get here?" a voice asked in English.
I quickly turned to see a tall man with a blonde beard with a green hood and a bow and quiver.
"I-I was o-on a s-ship. I-it c-crashed," I stuttered in broken English.
"Does this work better?" he asked in almost perfect Japanese.
"Yes, w-where am I? Who are you?" I asked.
"This place is the island of Lian Lu or Purgatory as it has also been called. As for who I am, I'm a ghost of a man who tried to save my city from the poison that was in it, but failed to do anything about the poison that had made it to my heart. Have you heard about the Hood or the Arrow of Star City?" he asked.
"He was a vigilante who was killed a decade ago before someone stood up to take his place and then became the Green Arrow," I said, remembering the story from my studies. "The second one went missing years ago."
"You know your stuff girl. I wasn't killed, that was just to cover my identity from getting out. My name is Oliver Queen and I was the Green Arrow," he said. "No one comes here other than my friends when I need some rations. I can contact them to take you home."
"What about my parents?" I asked.
"The ship you were on, it was from I-Island wasn't it?" he asked, turning around.
"Y-yeah, how did you know?" I asked.
"You were in the ocean for two days. I would say you had a meta ability that allowed you to survive," he said. "I get news here, no one survived the crash. Well, except you I guess," he sighed.
"H-how?" I asked.
"Because someone didn't want any survivors," he said. "Someone wanted a person on the ship dead, you can tell by where the waves that destroyed it came from."
"What do you mean?"
"The wave came from Japan."
"Why? Why did someone do this?" I asked.
"Kid, don't worry about it. Probability is that you weren't the target like I was all those years ago," he said.
"Doesn't change the fact that I'm powerless to do anything about it," I cried. "I really am just a Deku."
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"I'm powerless, how could I do anything to bring the change you did without a quirk?"
"Girl, not everyone has meta abilities. Japan does have a very dense population of meta abilities but only twenty percent of the world's population has them," he said. "I don't have one, I just had a bow and arrows."
"Teach me," I said, looking at him. "You couldn't get rid of the poison in your city, teach me to get rid of the poison in my nation."
"What's your plan? Go back and start a crusade? You would die the first night," he said walking off.
"No, I go back and start doing good, saving people. Then I will go to UA and become a hero," I said.
"One of those 'Hero Schools'? They don't teach how to do the right thing, they teach how to be noticed. They won't do anything that deals with a quirkless person since you can't get noticed, no offense," he said.
"If they won't notice me then why not help them notice me? Do you want to let the world rot because you were too afraid to take the step that could cure it?" I asked.
"You're not the cure," he said.
"But I can help, so why not help me help others?" I begged, getting him to stop in his tracks.
"I'll train you, but if at any point your will waivers I will send you back with nothing," he said, turning to look at me.
"It won't."
"Then we'll start in the morning," he said, continuing his path.
*Present*
"That's why he sent that message. He told me a bit about you but not much, I just was expecting you to be a bit older. So, what's your plan?" she asked.
"Tomorrow night the Green Arrow comes to Mustafu, then I go to UA and become the first quirkless hero in Japan," I said.
"Well, you're free to come down here whenever, there's arrows and the stuff to build them here as well as the stuff to make a suit similar to Oli's. The training equipment is in good condition, I still use it as well in case any hero or villain tries to start a fight here," she said.
"So, this is really a club where heroes and villains can be at and no one starts a fight, how?" I asked.
"My girlfriend and I keep a firm grasp on the no fighting rule and with her quirk, well, you don't want to be caught on the wrong side of it," she said with a small look of fear ghosting across her face. "Anyway, there's a loft upstairs you can sleep in and there is even an elevator that only stops here and there. Oh, and during your free time you will work at the bar. Not only is it a way to pay me back but also a good way to get information," she added.
"Alright, I can work with that," I agreed.
"Great, I'll lead you up to the loft, it hasn't been used in a minute so mind the dust," she said, walking to a space on the wall that opened up to reveal an elevator. I followed her to the elevator and it went up once she hit a button. "Here we are," she said as the doors opened to reveal a small place with a kitchen, a couch, and a bed.
"This is nice," I said.
"Well, probably compared to what Oli had you sleeping in," she said, a smirk on her face.
"You have no idea," I said, remembering the plane. "Thank you so much for all of this," I added.
"If Oli trusted you enough to train you, then I'll put a bit of faith into you," she said.
"Thanks," I said, putting the box down and opening it. I pulled out the green hood he had given me and held it up. "Time to get planning."
AN-
I have been rewatching all of the Arrowverse shows and couldn't get my old fic out of my head so I decided to try to rewrite it, and this came to be. Now a couple of things, while on the Island Izumi wasn't only trained by Oliver but a couple of people he asked to come help. This will be shown in what she does at UA. Till next time!
