"Kid! Put your hands up!"

Kaito grinned at the lone taskforce officer who had come to challenge him. The others were all scattered throughout the building, but this one had figured out just where Kaito was. A newbie, Kaito noted with surprise. Maybe there would actually be a challenge during his heists, now. Of course, Shinichi and Saguru presented themselves as great challenges, but they both had some affection toward Kaito that made them go a bit easy on him, even though they didn't realize it.

"Oh~? And why should I listen to you, officer?" Kaito sang out.

The taskforce officer did something unexpected. He raised his gun at Kaito. "Hands up, or I'll shoot."

Kaito's eyes widened and he slowly put his hands up. The officer came closer to him, pulling out his handcuffs, but Kaito quickly drew out his card gun and fired a shot of his anesthetic cards at the officer. The officer dropped the handcuffs, startled, and Kaito tackled him, making him drop the gun as well. The officer struggled against Kaito's grip, making him drop his card gun.

Kaito saw the officer pick up his gun from the floor, but before he could fire, Kaito grabbed his card gun and pulled the trigger.

BANG!

Kaito startled back, eyes widening. The gun he had grabbed was the taskforce officer's gun. The one the officer had grabbed was Kaito's card gun.

Kaito quickly felt for a heartbeat, and horror spread through him as he found none. Lifting up his blood covered hands, he slowly back away, then ran off. He would return the jewel later, when… when…

He didn't know when. He just didn't want to see the body anymore.

After he was running to the Blue Parrot, he paused at a telephone box to quickly leave a message to the police department about the dead body. Then, once he hung up, he was running towards the Blue Parrot once more.

Kaito burst in, breathing in and out in frantic breaths, and slid into a chair at the countertop. Jii came out soon enough, and his eyes widened as he saw Kaito's blood stained body. "Botchama, what happened?" He asked urgently.

"I… I… I don't want to do this anymore," Kaito choked out.

"Being Kid?" Jii questioned, and Kaito nodded. "What happened…?"

"I accidentally killed one of the taskforce officers," Kaito whispered robotically. "This is his blood."

"Oh god…" Jii whispered, coming closer. "Take off your clothes, botchama… You shouldn't sit in this blood for so long."

Kaito nodded slowly. Jii's words made sense. Kaito quickly changed, his stained Kid suit now folded neatly on the countertop. Jii moved it away gently, probably intending to wash them at a later time.

"Botchama, are you alright?" Jii asked.

Kaito shook his head. "I just killed someone… What do you think?"

"Do you want to talk to me about it?" Jii questioned.

Kaito shook his head again, more fiercely this time. "No. I just… I just want some time alone. I only came here because it's safer than my house right now. If Aoko saw me like this…" His voice faltered. "Well, you know."

Jii nodded in understanding. "If you need something, tell me."

Kaito nodded, then buried his face in his hands as Jii left.
