I took all the squirrel meat that Dean had started to fry it in a pan that I had warming up waiting on them. I put some toast in the toaster as well. I had one that made 4 pieces of toast at one time instead of just 2. I put the rabbit meat in a tupperware bowl and put it in the fridge for supper tonight. I also had some salsa chicken going for us to eat for the next couple days. I was plating the eggs that I had whipped up it was half real eggs and half powder eggs. i was plating a piece of toast on everyone plates, then the eggs, and lastly the strips of meat that I had cooked. I was now working around Ethan who was trying to take some eggs of the one of the plates as I carried them to the table.
"Dean come get your son and feed him he keeps trying to make a mess in my clean kitchen." I told Dean who was sitting in the living room waiting to be told what to do.
"Okay honey but you're going to have to stop moving so I can get him." Dean told me laughing trying to get Ethan but I was busy at work
"O sorry." I said stopping for him to grab Ethan.
"Dean there is a jar of apples, blackberries. and oats baby food for him to try I have a lot of the oats baby food so I hope he likes them." I told Dean pointing to the Jar of dark brown almost chocolate looking jar of baby food that was on the counter.
I set the plates on the table and went back to the kitchen to get bottles of tea for all of us to drink with the meal. I was setting them down on the table as the boys were sitting down to eat also. It was now about 8:30 and we were just eating breakfast for the day. I wanted to drive up to the road later to see how the city looked from here. I knew that most of it would be gone but i was hoping that the bombs had killed at least some walkers that were in the area. I at least hoped that it trapped them in the city so we wouldn't have to deal with it. I had a feeling that they made more walkers than they got rid of since you had to kill the brain on walkers.
I was now cleaning up breakfast dishes since we all ate everything on our plates. I sat Ethan down on the floor first and watched him as he started to crawl towards where Lady was laying in the living area on the floor. She picked her head up and started to wag her tail when she saw Ethan heading her way. Ethan got to Lady pretty fast and grabbed her ears before trying to stand up. He got about half way up and then fell on his butt and it was funny to see him try 2 or 3 times before giving up and playing with a toy Dean was holding out for him to take. Lady had been around the other two babies so she was used to being pulled and tugged on and didn't mind it at all it was why she was such a good dog.
I wash washing out the pans when Dean came over to help me out some. I smiled as I passed him the wet dishes for him to dry them off. I took the extra time to rotate the top four dishes with the bottom four so that the ones on top wouldn't get over used. I then put the two pans that I used to cook with up and made Ethan a couple bottles for the day since I forgot this morning and put them in the fridge and saw that we could use some more eggs, bacon, milk, and I wanted to get some more jar baby food so i would talk to Dean about it before everywhere went out of power. I went to the bench storage area and pulled out 3 of the same Top Secret puzzle folders.
"Okay boys come here I have something for you that I order for you when all this started." I told them calling them to the table.
I knew that they had wanted some theses for a while since at school they had showed them to the kids in one of those book orders pamphlets. I was almost 9 months pregnant at the time and all our extra money was going to baby supplies and new clothes so we couldn't afford them. I pulled one for each boy and one for me so that I could work with them or along side them. I handed Matt and Sam each a folder and their faces lit up so bright that they lit up the whole Rv with their smiles. It was about that time that we heard cars and it wasn't just one car it was a whole group of them and that scared me.
"Boy to bedroom now." I told them grabbing our bug out bags from by the door along with Ethan's diaper bag and tossed them in the bedroom. Sam was frozen in his seat so I snatched him up in one arm and Ethan in the other as Matt grabbed both our bows from by the door.
Dean was going to stay in the main room of the Rv to see what was going on. there was a hatched on the wall that used to be a window that we covered up but left there since it was on the other side than the door of the Rv. We back up against the woods so if we had to we could make a run for it. We would lose all of our supplies but we would be alive and that is all that mattered. I was putting Ethan in his carrier and strapped it on my chest. Matt was about to start loading more ammo for our pistols but stopped him when Dean used out key word.
"Dean used the key word go on out their but act like your going hunting take your bug out bag with you and check the traps bring back a couple squirrels." I told Matt passing him his bug out bag.
"Okay mom and I will drop the hint that you are laying Ethan down for a nap but stopped when the cars woke him up." Matt told me leaving the bedroom area.
"Okay Sam you want to start on some snacks I think we had some apples and blueberries still." I told him and that got his attention.
I went to put our bug out bags back under the counter by the door. Dean had put some hooks there for each of our bags. When Ethan got older his diaper bag would turn into his bug out bag so even he had a hook. I still had Ethan who had fallen asleep to my chest. I had put his chest facing me incase we had to run but now he was sleeping with his head on my chest which made him look so cute. I cut up four apples putting them in small bowels knowing that Matt would be back soon. I added a small handful of blueberries to each bowel before putting the huge box of blueberries back in the fridge. I saw that all the dogs were still in the Rv so I opened the Rv door and let them out.
"Dean I have a snack if you want it." I called as I step outed of the Rv with his bowl of food.
I heard a gun draw and acted on instinct and did the same with my bow that I had on my back. Lady and Hunter moved to protect me and start growling at this tall man that was wearing a Police Hat who had drawn his gun on me. I saw that Dean also moved to block me since he saw that I had Ethan with me. I turned back to see Sam watching through the Rv door and he did what I didn't want him to do but I couldn't blame him I was his mother and he was worried about me. He opened the Rv door and cried my name before coming running to me hugging my legs and started to yell when he saw this new man holding a gun on me.
"Stop pointing that gun at my mommy." Sam yelled at the man shocking him but making me and Dean smile.
"Hey Sam why don't you take your brother back inside while Me and Daddy talk with this man." I told him carefully handing him his brother.
"Hunter go with." I told him and he started towards the Rv with Sam and Ethan while Lady stayed at mine and Dean's side.
"Okay so why the gun draw and who the hell do you think you are pointing a gun at a woman with a baby." I yelled at him about to step forward but Dean stopped me.
"I didn't know if you were a threat." He told me.
"Well listen here buddy next time you point that gun at one of my sons you better pray your are dead or you're going to wish you were." I threaten him as more people got out of the cars with their bags.
A woman with brown hair had a son about Matt's age stepped forward to be behind the man with the police hat. I could tell right off that the boy wasn't the guys son biologically at least. She didn't look to happy that I was yelling at the guy in the police hat but I didn't care. In another Rv that was pitiful at best you could tell by looking at it that it had seen better days and everyone knew but shelter was shelter. I handed Dean his bowl of fruit which got the attention of the group they all looked to be hungry.
"You need to eat that way you can take Matt down to the lake to get more water so you can shower tonight." I told him as I put the bowl of fruit in his hand.
"Okay honey I will eat the bowl of fruit but not Ooo blueberries." He said as he started to eat the bowl of fruit.
"Momma Ethan stinky." Sam called from inside the Rv and smiled as I nodded my head and went to the Rv to change Ethan.
I took Ethan to the bedroom and changed his diaper before I took him back to the living room to be put in his bouncer. Matt about that time came through the door handing me a 5 squirrels for me to skin and I gave him a look but he just smiled and took his bowl of fruit off the counter and sat down to start working on his Top Secret folder. I made him get up and washed his hands before touching his food not wanting him to get sick. I took the squirrels back outside and sat down on a tree stump that I had rolled around for us to sit on while we used the small outside kitchen counter top to skin the animals we caught on.
I could feel the eyes of everyone from the new group on me and the food that I was preparing to put in the freezer for another day to eat. I got most the animals skinned when Shane started to argue with Dean and what surprised me the most was when Dean raised his voice at Shane. I knew that Matt would keep his brother inside. I put the skinned squirrels in the fridge and left the others on the cutting board with my hunting knife sticking out of the cutting board as well. I walked over to see what the problem was so that maybe I could fix it. I walked up to find Dean and Shane in a heated argument.
"No I'm telling you either share your supplies with the rest of the group or leave." Shane told Dean firmly crossing his arms over his chest.
"Now why in the fucking hell would we do that." I asked him rudely stepping forward.
"Because it's only fair that we all get to eat." Lori said stepping forward to support Shane.
"No it's not fair that me and Dean spent out hard working money on our food and now you expect us to just give it to you." i told her stepping into her face and that made her back down.
"Plus Dean and I have three kids to feed and well as ourselves so no way in hell are you going to barge in here and demand we share our supplies. If you want food and supplies go find it your self." I told her getting the rest of the group attention.
"Whats going on over here." An older Guy asks stepping out of the old Rv.
"this bastard thinks he can come into our camp and demand that we give him the supplies that me and my husband bought with our own money or demand that we leave when we were here first." I told him getting angry again.
"Now Shane we talked about this you can't force anyone to share their supplies you can only ask them besides didn't Glenn go on a run in the city for supplies for the group." Dale told him.
"Let's make one thing perfectly clear Just because your a man doesn't mean you will run camp I have just as much right to the job as you do." I told Shane showing him my Army tattoo that i had before going back over to finish skinning the squirrels.
I finished skinning the squirrels before adding the new meat in with the other meat and taking it back in the Rv. I let the dogs out giving each of the some of the safe guts from the animals that I skinned. I then went inside and saw that Sam was still working on the Top Secret book so I went to see what the problem was and he was having trouble finding all the people from the suspect cards so I told him to put it up for now and play the game or watch something. I checked on Ethan who was happily playing in the floor with his toys while Lady who had finished her snack already had joined him and was keeping him safe.
I stirred the salsa chicken before I had Matt watch his brothers while I went to get some water from the lake. I got the water jugs ready to go before going and starting the fire pit that we brought with us so that I could boil it when I got back. I grabbed both water jugs and headed towards the water. I had brought my bow an arrows with me along with my gun and hunting knife so If I was attacked I could kill what ever attacked me. I got to the water and started to collect it when I felt nibbles on my finger tips which meant that there were fish in the lake and that would be something fun for the boys to do one day and they would be easy to freeze whole or flayed.
I carried the first two jugs of water back up to the camp fire and saw that Lori was trying to use it to heat up her son's can of soup that they must of had with them or the Glenn guy got back from the city already. I gave her a look that sent her running off with her son's half warm soup. I saw Dean give me a look and I raised my eyebrows at him. It wasn't my job to take care and provide for her son. I put the big pot on the cooking grate before adding the water to the pan. I was able to fit half the 5 gallon jug in the pot.
I waited for it to boil a young asian guy came over to the fire and started to introduce himself. I introduced my self back to him before taking the pot of water off the fire and dumping it into a clean empty jug and redoing the process until all the water was boiled and then Dean helped my dump the clean boiled water into the water heater and then I headed back down to the lake to repeat this process 2 more times before all the main water heater was filled up so I shut the hatch and then put the water jugs and bucket back in the storage compartment on the side of the Rv.
I notice that only 5 or 6 of 20 or so families had a tent and I felt bad for them but I wasn't giving up my tent to them no way in hell. I went back inside to get Sam and Matt so we could play with is ball that he brought with him from the house. Matt wasn't interested so it was just me and Sam kicking the ball back and forth. Two of the kids came over with a skinny short hair almost like a buzz cut woman who looked to be my age. I smiled as they approached where me and Sam were passing the soccer ball back and forth.
"Hello my name is Carol, this is my daughter Sophia she and Carl wanted to know if they could play to." Carol asked me
"Yeah Sure they can take my place I'm getting tired and need to check on Sam's younger brother Ethan." I told her passing the ball to Sophia who smiled real big.
I left Sam who was with in eye sight playing with the other two kids why I check on Ethan who was now in Matt's arms being fed his supper bottle since it was almost 5 now so me and Sam had been playing a couple hours no wonder I was so tired. I turned the crockpot off knowing it would still be warm in 30 minuets. I had started to warm a pan up on the stove for the peas. I opened two cans of peas and dumped them into the pan before adding some butter, salt and pepper to them. I turned them down on low to let them heat up so that we could eat them with the salsa chicken tonight. So I went and got a jar of baby food out of the cabinet to feed a hungry Ethan with.
I picked Ethan up out of Matt's arm and burped him before I started to feed him his Pineapple, Pear, and Avocado jar of baby food. I had sent Matt to get his brother from playing with the other children. I started to feed Ethan the jar of baby food and he didn't really like it at first but after like two bites he was loving it. I think the Avocado is what threw him for a loop because not only was it a different flavor but also a different texture in his mouth and it took some getting use to.
I burped Ethan half way through his jar of baby food and that is when Dean walked through the door not looking happy at all but he dropped the look when he saw my concern look on my face as I gave Ethan another bite of baby food. Dean washed his hands before starting to get bowls of salsa chicken and peas ready to eat. I taped Dean on the back and handed him the spoon to Ethan's baby food because Matt and Sam still weren't back yet.
"I'm going to go see where our boys are they should be back by now." I told Dean getting up and putting on my shoes
"Lady find Matt, Hunter find Sam." I told the dogs giving them different commands so I had one dog looking for each boy.
Lady took us right too the area Sam was playing in last and Matt was there with the ball but no Sam and my heart froze when I saw this. Matt looked just as worried as I did when we saw that foot prints led to the woods and their was more than one set. The other looked like an older male's. I grabbed my bow cocking it and so did Matt as we headed into the woods. I looked for about 2 minuets before we lost the trail. I could tell that Sam was trying to hide his trail at this point and it was getting to dark to see well otherwise I would have been able to follow it.
"Lady, Hunter find Sam." I told them passing Matt a flashlight to help us see.
We looked for another 5 minuets before we found Sam hiding behind a tree looking so scared that he jumped when I touched him. I saw that he was cry so I picked him up and told the dogs to take us home and they did just that. Sam buried his head in my shoulder and put his arms around my neck and held on the whole way back to the Rv. Matt looked just as worried as I did about what we had found. Sam wasn't a big crier so if was crying their was a good reason for it and I was going to find out what it was.
Sam knew better than going into the woods without telling us so that meant he ran because he was scared of something or someone. Matt opened the Rv door for me and I shut it behind me after getting in the Rv. Dean looked alarmed to see me not only taking so long but to find me carrying Sam really must have worried him because he bolted to us. I put Sam down and wiped his face off but you could still tell that he had been crying so I bent down to his level and smiled at him softly before i asked him why he was in the woods. I could tell that he didn't really want to answer the question but knew better than not to so he did slowly.
"Sam why were you in the woods." I asked him as I held his hand.
"So So Sophia's dad came to get her and and and he started to yell at her for playing with me and bugging strangers. I tried to tell him that I wanted her to play with me but he started to yell at me and started to come towards me as he raised his hand to hit me so I ran and hid." Sam told me as he cried.
"Sam, Sam, stop that i'm not mad i was just worried when I couldn't find you is all. Now why don't we go eat." I told him leading him toe the kitchen.
Dean had all four bowels on the table waiting on us along with silverware and drinks. I smiled as I sat down sliding into the booth only for Dean to sit beside me. Ethan was no where to be seen which told me he was asleep in his bed for now. I ate in peace while I though about what Sam had said about Carol's husband and it only worried me more about what happened. I finished up eating before I started on dishes and Dean stepped in to help me out some. This evening he was washing while I dried and put them away. Afterwards I worked on the first couple of pages of my Top Secret folder while Matt and Sam played the x-box on the floor in the living area.
I got through the first three pages of the puzzle book before I stopped and put it away just in time to get Ethan so that he could get a diaper change. I picked up a stinky Ethan who thought my scrunched up nose at him was funny. After finding out that Avocado didn't agree Ethan's stomach at all based on his poopy diaper. I tossed it in the Walmart bag that was hanging on the side of the diaper changer for his dirty diaper. I got Ethan back dressed before taking him to the living area to find that Dean had left without telling anyone to do permitter check. I was worried that Shane was trying to threaten our family to get to him and I knew that he would do anything to keep us safe.
"Did Dean take any bags with him." I asked Matt.
"No just his crossbow, why mom everything okay." Matt asks me
"Yeah probably nothing at all." I told Matt as I grabbed Ethan's bottle out of the fridge.
I sat down on the couch as I started to feed Ethan his bottle. I was about half way through when I stopped to burp him before giving him his bottle again that Dean walked in the Rv not to happy again. I gave him a look that told him we were going to talk after the boys went to bed and he nodded his head at me before handing me Ethan's small jar of apple sauce to tide him over for a while. I fed him half of the medium size jar before burping him again and putting the rest in the fridge for another time. Sam was falling asleep by this time I went and tucked him into bed while Matt cleaned up the x-box area mess for him.
I got Sam to bed only to have Ethan fall a sleep on me while I was gone. I took Ethan to bed making sure not to wake him up when I put him in his crib. Matt went on to bed not long after since the next day would be a long day with the new group trying to get us to give up our supplies. I went back to the living room where Dean was waiting on me to talk to. I could tell that he was upset about something and I had a gut feeling that Shane was pushing for supplies again and based on the look on his face it was telling that we would have to make some kind of move to get him to back down before some one got hurt.
"So what's going on with you." I asked him as I sat down on the couch.
"Shane is trying to strong arm me into giving him most of our supplies. He is trying to find any and every reason to get the rest of the group not to trust us." Dean told me
"Okay so let's show the rest of the people that you are one to trust. Talk to that Glenn guy and go on a run down the road to that small hunting store and get everyone supplies." I told him.
"I didn't think about that. That's actually a great Idea thanks babe." Dean told me leaning in to kiss.
"Now back to the main problem what has you so angry. I have seen you angry twice in one day and that is not like you." I told him as I moved to snuggle in next to him.
"Shane and Lori that woman he is with just don't seem to care about anybody but themselves. I saw that Glenn guy come back with a bag full of supplies and as he tries to hand it out Lori just takes the whole thing for herself and Shane does nothing but watching her." Dean told me and that did make me made so much for sharing.
"Well we don't have to worry about her so leave it alone and worry about keeping your kids safe." I told him.
"Carol's husband may become a problem, because if he raises a hand to my son again and they will be finding his dead body." I told Dean look him straight in the eye so that he knew I was dead serious.
"Okay Honey I will let Shane know of the problem and make sure i'm perfectly clear with him that it's not executable." Dean told me getting up and going to the kitchen and returns with an Ice cream sandwich.
"Now where have you been hiding those at." I teased him.
"I have my ways. No I bought like 10 boxes of them and put them in the second deep freezer along with some ice cream and frozen dinners and other frozen veggies." Dean told me explaining what that freezer held.
I took the ice cream sandwich from Dean as he sat down behind me again. I turned on the Tv to show him the series Blindspot I put the first episode on I could tell that Dean really liked the series as much as I did. We ended up watching three of them before Ethan woke up whining so I picked him up and rocked him in my arms as I grabbed his pacifier and put it in his mouth before putting him back in his bed. I joined Dean back on the couch to watch another episode but I wanted to talk about supplies.
"Dean we are running low on Milk, eggs, and could use more baby food, formula, diapers, and snacks for the boys. I was thinking of heading into the close small town to go shopping before all the power goes out and the food that is kept cold goes bad." i told him.
"I know a small grocery store not far from here that has a back generator that should still be keeping the freezers running but only for a couple days. But it's small so it won't have a lot but it should get us what we need." Dean told me.
"But then we have the Shane problem he won't let us go get supplies for just us with out sharing it." I told him.
"I could take you, Glenn, and that black guy T-dog I think his name is and we could all get supplies for the whole group but you and me would let it be known before we go that we need certain things and will be getting them if the store has it." Dean told me.
"Okay but while we are gone I don't want the boys leaving the Rv at all so we will need to make it clear to them that they can't leave or even open the door for anyone." I told Dean as we watched another episode before calling it a night.
I cleaned up the living room and turned everything off while Dean made sure everything was locked up and good to go before we went to bed. I changed into a sports bra and some boxer shorts before getting into bed with Dean who was waiting on me in just boxer shorts. I shut the bedroom door before checking on each boy. I had to cover up Sam who had kicked the covers off and I didn't want him to get cold. Matt on the other hand was doing just fine so left him. I kissed each of my boys good night before getting in bed I snuggled up to him before I closed my eyes and went to sleep. Not looking forward to the talk with Shane the next day but knew it was coming either way.
