Twenty-second returning Jump Girl for Month of Pink; Maam from Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai.

Even though she was a martial artist now, Maam hadn't lost her ability in healing magic. She was glad for that as right now she had to heal Dai after he and Popp got a little too serious with training.

"I've told you before, Dai, you need to be more careful," stated the pink-haired her as her glowing hands hovered over Dai's wound.

"Ah, I wouldn't worry too much, Maam! I've had worse injuries!" exclaimed the younger boy.

That was when Popp decided to input his two cents. "That's right! I mean there was this one time…"

Unfortunately he didn't get much further when Maam's glare caused him to snap his mouth shut. "Don't encourage this!"

"Wh-What makes you think I'm encouraging this?"

"Are you telling Dai to take it easy?"

"Uh…"

"…Idiot," muttered the girl as she turned back to focus on Dai. "Seriously, Dai. How can you accomplish your goals if you get hurt like this?"

"Would I still get hurt on this journey anyway?" questioned the boy, looking confused.

"There's a big difference between getting hurt in battle and getting hurt because of training," explained Maam. "If you get hurt outside of battle you'll be at a disadvantage when you do need to fight."

"Isn't that why we have you as our healer though?" asked Popp, being the one confused now.

This earned him another glare from Maam. "Sometimes I might not be there and there is no way Dai can rely on you all the time!"

"What's that supposed to mean?!"

But Maam just ignored the cowardly mage to speak to Dai. "So promise me, Dai. Be more careful with your training. Otherwise I'll tell Leona that you're not taking care of yourself."

She had to giggle when Dai had a slight pout on his face. "That's not fair."

"Life is never fair, Dai, but we just have to move forward and overcome."

And she would be there every step of the way to keep her friends safe.

With a new animé adaptation that came out a couple of years ago, a LOT of information about these characters has been updated since the last time I wrote a DQ one-shot, so the characters should be more in-character this time around.
