Gabriel Agreste was usually considered to be a cold man, even to his child. News reporters had had Gabriel on their radar for dirt for quite sometime. A reporter cornering both Adrien and Nathalie for information was one of the reasons Gabriel hired a bodyguard.
It had started out as a relatively normal day. Gabriel had woken up to a great night's sleep and went into his dining room to see Nathalie and Adrien both looking exhausted. Adrien was about to face-plant into his pancakes, while Nathalie was falling asleep over a stalk report.
'What were they doing last night?' Gabriel thought. He grabbed the remote for the dining room TV and turned it to max volume, promptly waking the two up. Nathalie jerked her head towards the origin of the noise, then to her employer.
"Oh, Gabriel. How was your night?" Nathalie asked.
As if she didn't already know. Gabriel had had Mayura out all night aiding an akuma victim while he slept for his conference in the morning. Adrien had a fairly good night however, they beat the Akuma, that was always a plus.
"It was fine, Nathalie." Gabriel then noticed his son. He was still in his sleep wear and his school started in 10 minutes. "Adrien! You'll be late! Go get dressed!"
"Yes, father." Adrien muttered.
Nathalie followed Gabriel to his room to relay his schedule from the day. It was quite important that everything went as planned today, with a shareholder meeting scheduled over the phone, as well as a meeting with some people regarding his personal evil dealings as a supervillain. Once Adrien was out the door the two were finished for the moment and Gabriel insisted that Nathalie took a rest seeing as 'it was unhealthy for someone to function on half an hour of sleep'
Nathalie had no objections.
Of course, it was that day at that minute when the doorbell rang. Nathalie begrudgingly left her room to see who it was. Turns out, the person had already found a way into the house through a window, and Gabriel was standing on the stairs with his mouth hanging open.
"Gabriel!" The intruder said. "Come'ere, give me a hug!"
Gabriel took a step back as the man stepped forward. Nathalie was watching the scene in complete shock.
"What's wrong? Don't ya remember ur baby brother Sammy?"
"Samuel?" Gabriel asked.
"Yup! I knew you'd recognize me! Why, the last time I saw you, you were graduating high school!"
Sammy released Gabriel and seemed to notice Nathalie.
"And is that Nathalie?" He ran to hug her next. "I remember when Gabe was working for your parents! Where are they new anyway?"
"Dead." Nathalie did not have the energy or patients to deal with this.
Sammy blinked. "Well then, I was reading about you in the news, Gabe! You seem to have done pretty well!"
"Samual, why are you here?" Gabriel said.
"Oh, right. So listen I hear you have a kid now, and I just got custody of my two beautiful children of my own! Out of three, but.. ya know, not bad!"
Gabriel and Nathalie looked at eachother. Nathalie was unsure which part of that sentence to question first.
"Oh, and I need 20 thousand for child support payments."
"What? I thought you had custody of your three children?" Gabriel asked, appalled.
"And I just got custody of my fourth! But yeah, I got drunk one night and hired a hooker, so I have to pay up."
"Samuel, you may not have twenty thousand dollars!" Gabriel said.
He seemed unaffected by this, because he turned to Nathalie.
"Hey, so, Nat, I need 20 thousand. I can.. make it worth your while.." Sam put his arm around Nathalie's waist.
Sam received a punch in the face.
It just so happened that at that moment, Gabriel's bodyguard had returned.
"Throw that man out!" Gabriel commanded.
The bodyguard wasted no time in picking up Sam by his collar and throwing him out.
Nathalie turned to Gabriel. "He is terrible." She said.
He just nodded.
Several hours later, Adrien silently walked into Gabriel's room where him and Nathalie were planning the following day. Gabriel noticed him.
"May I help you, Adrien?" He asked.
"Father, do I have an uncle?" He asked.
"No, Adrien. Why do you ask?"
"Well, there's a guy on a talk show and he's saying he knew you and mom and Nathalie in high school.. and that he's your brother?" Adrien said.
Gabriel's face noticeable paled as he switched on the news. Nathalie joined him and neither were happy with what they saw. Samuel Agreste was on a talk show, speaking about anything and everything to do with the Agrestes. Currently, he was explaining what was happening in photos (provided by him) of his and Gabriel's early life. Adrien was learning more about his father from the news then he did from Gabriel.
"Oh, and here's something, I did also manage to swipe one of the Agreste's tablets, but I think Gabe's assistant let me take it, we're close, if ya know what I mean." Sam said.
Nathalie was just about ready to pass out, and Gabriel was about ready to change his goal from getting Miraculouses to hunting down his brother.
"Well this is all wondering, Samual, but the Agrestes have always been so private, mind telling us why only now you're giving us information on them?"
"Well, see, I need Gabe's money to pay off my child support bills, and I figure the best way to get it is blackmail. You know how it is."
"I do if you keep giving us this stuff!" The reporter said.
Sam smiled. "Well, then I guess we're both happy. Oh, hey between you and me, I think there may be a thing going on between Gabe and his assistant."
Nathalie felt her eye twitch.
"Excuse me." Nathalie left the room. Gabriel, already knowing what she was planning, let her go and continued to evaluate the extent of the damage his brother caused to the Agreste brand.
"So, you're saying Nathalie Sancouer and Gabriel Agreste are dating?" The reported asked.
"Probably, and I mean, he's around her so much that-"
Just then, a centimonster smashed into the building and grabbed Sam.
Gabriel smiled.
