Unexpected Sisterhood
Hi everyone, I just started getting into Helluva boss and I love the family dynamics within the show. While I have not seen all the episodes from the beginning yet, I am doing my homework, but I will also be making my own rules for this world. Of course, I got this inspiration from watching Season 2 episode 2. I can already see the people and their fanart, but I believe Loona and Octavia would be better as sisters than lovers. Not every relationship needs to be romantic. Therefore, I downed Octavia's age; I could easily see Loona becoming a big protective sister for Octavia. Sorry for the long introduction, please enjoy the story, and please share your thoughts and love!
Chapter 1 Babysitting
What the hell was her father thinking? Suddenly Loona found herself stuck watching some kid she wanted nothing to do with. She sighs as she studies the child.
It was the daughter of her father's fling; she could not be more than 12 or 13 years of age. Although she had to admit, the child was cute as she kicked her little legs, also studying Loona from the chair she sat on. She is an avian demon like her father, with a coat of gray feathers. Her eyes are pink with bright white pupils. Below her eyes are two tear-like eyelashes. She has her father's white mask-like face, and her mother's eyes and shaggy hair feathers.
For clothing, the child wore a black feathery shawl around her shoulders over a glitter pink dress with light yellow stars on it, a black beanie hat with a pale-yellow tiara design on it, a pink choker around her neck, and black heeled boots.
She was an odd child, Loona thought to herself. Although realizing who her parents were, she could not blame the quiet girl.
"All right, kid what do you want to do?"
Loona moves to sit across from the girl, placing her elbows on her knees as she waits for the girl's answer. The two currently sat in Blitzo's office as her father was off collecting some souls for Hell. Contracts were required to be fulfilled for those who sold their souls but were trying to run from their agreements. Just another day for her father. Typically, Loona would tag along, but her father wanted to enjoy a mission with his partner and there was nobody available to watch the kid. So naturally, her father volunteered her for the job. It was frustrating, Loona would much rather be out in the field, killing those who deserve it. However, her father did promise to pay her more than double if she agreed to the babysitting gig for one day.
Octavia blinks and points to herself, "You want me to decide?" she tilts her head curiously, still trying to get a feel for this strange woman. The child could not deny she was pretty, though maybe a bit intimidating to start a conversation with. That's why she had been so quiet until now. She was not sure how this woman would react if she suddenly became talkative. Her mother always taught her that children should be seen and not heard.
Taking in the appearance of the hellhound with a wolf-like appearance. Octavia noticed a pointed, dog-like muzzle with sharp and pointy teeth, along with a gray dark nose. Her eyes have red sclera with white irises, and she wears a dark gray eyeshadow. She also has a piercing on her right eyebrow. Her outfit features a spiked black choker. Her tattered gray, off the shoulder crop-top is held up at the neckline by a series of crisscross spaghetti-straps that form an inverted pentagram. She wears shorts that are tattered at the hems, with a crescent moon detail on the right side. Loona accessorizes with fingerless gloves and black toeless stocking with her black claws protruding due to her digitigrade stance.
Overall, she had an intimidating appearance about her, but for some strange reason, Octavia did not feel threatened or scared. In fact, she felt curious about this hellhound.
"Well, kid?" Loona questions her again. "I'm not exactly sure what kids your age like to do," she adds honestly.
Octavia scratches her head as she thinks for a moment, "Umm, I guess we could go for something to eat?" she suggested, unsure of herself. She was not sure how to react to planning an activity or outing to be honest. Nobody ever really cared much for her opinion very often.
Loona smiles softly and nods, "Sounds good to me, it's nearing lunchtime anyway. Any place you like?" Loona stands and stretches for a moment.
"Uhh, I don't know. I usually eat at home"
"All right, I got an idea. We can go to Flames Kitchen, it's a great restaurant and not too violent for a kid like you," Loona decides.
In Hell, it was often hard to avoid the violence that comes with Hell. Usually, it is not a great place for children to grow up in. However, coming from a high-class society Octavia has mostly been shielded from the real dangers of this world. Despite the dangers, there are some areas that are deemed sanctuary zones, where violence is unwelcome. Should fights break out, those involved are sent away for punishment or possibly kicked out of the sanctuary for eternity.
"Ok," She responds shyly as she stands and follows the hellhound out of the office just as Loona grabbed her shoulder-strapped black purse.
When they arrived, Octavia was awed by the business of the place. Never had she been to such a lively and diverse place. There were demons of all kinds, some human souls as well. All chatting away, eating or drinking, lost in their conversations. The place was massive, with pool tables and dart boards, and big televisions as well. The walls and floors were blood red, with high ceilings, and a U-shaped bar at the center of the restaurant.
"Oh wow, can I try that?" Octavia questioned as she pointed to one of the free dartboards. Her eyes were wide with curiosity.
Loona smirks and shrugs, "Sure kid, we can see what your aim is like"
The pair walk over, and Loona picks up some darts. Loona offered some experienced advice and told Octavia to watch closely as she demonstrated her techniques, being patient and simple with her advice.
"Wow! You hit the mark on the first try!" Octavia claps happily.
Loona smiles and hands the girl a dart, "Now you try,"
Octavia nods, she gets into the same position she carefully observed Loona, aims, and throws. Of course, being her first try it flies so far from the target and hits a customer!
"Ouch!" cries a large owl demon.
"Oh, sorry!" Octavia shrieks from embarrassment and hides behind Loon as she brings her beanie hat down to slightly shield her face.
Loona laughs a genuine laugh, "Don't worry about it kid, most demons can heal from a minor injury like that," Loona waves off her concern. "Do you want to try again?" Octavia just shakes her head and hopes the big Owl demon does not confront her, she did not like confrontation. Loona realizes that pushing the girl did not seem like a good option, she could see she was shooked up. "All right, let's go find a seat so we can eat"
Lunch went by smoothly for the girls. Loona asked a few basic questions about the child, her likes and dislikes. Octavia was just as curious about Loona too. Loona noticed a sore topic was her parents at a brief mention and steered clear from that direction. The hellhound was not typically the touchy-feel type of person, either way, so she certainly did not want to see the girl upset or make her cry accidently.
"That was really good," The child compliments as she swallows her last bite.
Loona smirks, "Glad you like it, kid. You gotta get out of that big mansion of yours once in and while. There are lots of great places to eat in Hell," she points out, taking her final bite as well, and licking the bone dry of any taste of meat lingering.
Octavia sighs as she fiddles with the sleeve of her dress, looking down at her lap. "I wish I could, but mom and dad keep me inside cause they say Hell is dangerous and no place for royalty, especially mom. Sometimes dad lets me come out with him,"
"Well, if you need an escape just call for me," Loona winks.
Octavia looks up, "But how?"
"Don't you do magic like your dad?"
"A little, I'm still learning," she admits lamely.
"Well, once you learn a contact spell you can reach out to me whenever you need to. But in the meantime," Loona pulls a whistle out from her pocket and places it over Octavia's neck as a necklace. "You can use that to call for me. Nobody can hear it but me, no matter how far you are. Just try to use it sparingly cause it does hurt my ears like a bitch," Loona rubs her ears and shudders at the thought.
Octavia's eyes widen as she looks at the simple whistle. "Wow, so I can call you if I'm in trouble?"
Loona nods, "Sure, you're not a bad kid. Honestly, probably one of the calmest decent kiddos I have ever met. Most in hell are usually screaming their lungs off or demanding things from adults,"
Octavia smiles, and Loona offers the same gesture, "Thank you, I promise I won't overuse it!" She gets up from her booth and makes her way over to Loona, surprising the hellhound with a big hug. Taken aback, it takes Loona a minute to return the warm gesture.
'I guess babysitting isn't too bad' Loona thought to herself.
To Be Continued!
Gotta stop it here because this is getting long. I plan to add more cute moments of these two bonding, I promise! I even want to add the father-daughter moment with Loona and Blitzo. While I love that moment, they showed Blitzo meeting Loona for the first time, I feel they rushed it in there out of nowhere, and plan to flesh that out a bit more. Stolas will also make appearances to engage with his daughter. There will be mention and scenes of child neglect, along with mental abuse and more. However, I will put a warning at the beginning of the chapter when this occurs. Octavia's home life is not an easy one, and it will not be pretty when Loona learns just how bad it truly can be.
