As Weiss Schnee walked through the large empty halls of the manor she wished the day of her escape would come sooner. Herself and Klein had made a plan of escape in secret. She only hoped it didn't backfire on Klein. She was happy to admit to herself that Klein was more of a father to her than Jacques ever was. As she passed her fathers office she noticed something particular. The door was ever so slightly ajar, and there was a man with a briefcase in her fathers office. The man had jet black hair and was clad in a dark blue suit.
As she peered into the room she noticed the briefcase had a logo she didn't recognize. 'Was the SDC buying out yet another small family run dust shop?' She thought to herself. She had felt bad for Flynt's family, and truly hated the idea of it happening to more people. The stranger spoke up at that moment. "So Mr.S-Schnee,do we have" the man paused for a jagged uneasy breath "-a deal?" Jacques grinned "Of course we do, I never got your name sir?" The man in the suit placed the briefcase on Jacques's desk. "My E-E-E-Employers would rather I not reveal my identity, Mr. Schnee. This is dangerous business, and you have dangerous materials, I-I-I'm sure you understand." The stranger then stood up. "Of course… By giving us this, what did you call it Synthetic Dust? You will have helped to change Atlas if not all of Remanent itself." The stranger then spoke "That is the Idea…" the man took a short shaky inhale " . I'll see myself out. If you and your company aren't careful…" he paused to breathe again. "It could lead to unforeseen consequences." The man turned around and made eye contact with Weiss.
In that brief second of eye contact, Weiss felt like she was facing off against a horde of beowolfs naked and unarmed. A fear she hadn't felt for nearly a decade shot down her spine. Something felt wrong about this stranger. Quickly she retreated to her room, Jogging down the halls she bumped into her brother and accidentally knocked him over. "Do watch where you're going, dear sister. We wouldn't want you getting hurt would we." said the youngest Schnee as he got up. "Whitley, Who was that man Father had in his office just now? Something about him just felt wrong." Weiss asked. Whitley stared at her, "I have no idea what you are talking about dear sister, Father doesn't have any meetings until tomorrow. And what do you mean by ``felt wrong `` ''When I looked at him I felt like I was facing down a horde of beowolfs unarmed. But you probably don't care about that do you?" Weiss said. She took a deep breath before leaving Whitley before he could respond. Entering her room she decided to work on her summoning.
The Next Day
Weiss had decided that if there was something dangerous in that briefcase, it had to be kept out of her fathers hands. He would only use it for wrong. 'That man doesn't have a single good cell in his body' she thought to herself. Attempting once more to summon the Arma Gigas, Looking at the painting on her wall, she closes her eyes, determined to fully summon the knight. Closing her eyes she stabs her rapier into the floor and goes to one knee. Klein was alarmed when he heard glass shatter from her room, and burst through the door in fear of Weiss' safety. "Miss Schnee, are you alright!" the small man yelled. Stunned by the large knight standing in front of her. She smirks, "Yes." she answered his question as the knight knelt in front of her. She looked at Klein "Klein, There's something else, but first do you know if Father is in?" Klein answered her quickly "Jacques left for a meeting with the Atlas counsel about an hour ago." Weiss seemed to relax at this information. The knight faded out as she spoke again. "There is something dangerous in Fathers office, I will retrieve it and meet you in the library." "I'll be there Miss Schnee. I'll have someone there to take you to Mistral." Klein replied. Weiss placed her sword on her hip and handed Klein a white briefcase filled with dust rounds, a spare set of clothes & some spare parts for Myrtenaster, as she walked out.
Entering her fathers office she spotted the black briefcase with a circular symbol on it, she quickly grabbed the briefcase and opened it. There was a small orange crystal inside. Quickly closing the case she ran to the library. Klein, true to his word, was there, he opened a passageway behind a bookcase. He led her to a small hanger bay, inside was a small dinky freighter. The pilot was nice enough to let her ride in the cargo hold until they got to mistral. "Are you sure Mistral is safe?" questioned Klein. Weiss sighed, "Nope, but it's the best chance I have." She hugged Klein goodbye. He smiled warmly at her as she boarded the freighter.
One Day Later
Weiss was tired. First she had to escape Atlas, then she had to fight a swarm of lancers. Of course a lancer queen had to complicate things. And now, the ship was going down. Thinking quickly she placed a series of gravity glyphs in front of the ship. When the freighter crashed into the first one it was jarring, The second one was equally as jarring. As they approached the coastline, Weiss's white suitcase flew out, She clung to the black one containing the dust. When the ship made contact with the ground, her sword flew off of her hip and landed somewhere in the forest. Along with her sword, the magnet that held it in place tore through the flank of her dress.
Crashing to a stop, she was thrown into the back wall, exposing the wires and crackling electricity. Catching her breath, she decided to make sure that the dust sample was not too damaged. To her dismay the dust had large fractures running down its body. She paused to catch her breath. With a groan she moved to close the case. Just before the case was closed, a bolt of electricity shot out of the exposed wires behind her, Striking the crystal. To her horror, the orange dust glowed with a light green tint. Then there was a flash of light, and finally her body succumbed to the darkness.
Her eyes opened, She saw an alien land, with creatures that had restraints on their necks & wrists. A blinding flash occurred and she saw the city of mistral and a distinctive red cloak of her friend. Before she could yell out there was another flash and this time she saw a man with glasses in a strange suit. She made brief eye contact with the man. A look of shock shot through his face. Another flash left her dazed on the ground. The sky was dark and filled with clouds, starlight seemed to pierce the cloud cover. She was awed when she noticed a series of floating islands. Looking over the edge of the island she was on she noticed that there was nothing below. She backed away from the edge quickly. Finally she said "Where am I?" turning around she saw a small facility. The door wasn't working, it seemed to be pressure sealed. "Well… How am I gonna get this door open?" she questioned herself.
"It looks like it just needs power." she said to herself. She noticed a small outlet-like device near the doorway, and a small cable near it. When she grabbed the cable she recoiled at its touch. It wasn't like a normal cable, It seemed fleshy. Ignoring the odd feeling she plugged it into the outlet.
A small green light emanated from the door, and light poured out of the small reinforced windows. Walking in she was stunned. There was all sorts of science equipment and broken computers. After searching she found a working one and decided to look for some information on this world. When the computer booted up, the same logo that was on the now destroyed briefcase was set as the background, beneath it was a label "Black Mesa Research Facility - Working to make a better tomorrow for all mankind"
She was lucky that the person who used this before her didn't bother to log out of their email, the top of that list was an email labeled "Urgent Warning! To all personnel" she raised an eyebrow. "Well let's see what you have to say." she spoke to herself. As she clicked on the email.
"Notice all personnel who are assigned to the experimentation of the "Xen '' dimension, You must be equipped with the Mark 4 Hazardous EnVironment suit at all times outside of the facility! Black Mesa will not be responsible for any more deaths. If you are caught without the Mk4 HEV suit, your employment will be terminated. Thank you all for your cooperation.
Black Mesa, Department of Human Resources.
"Hmm, let's see if I can find out more about this place, they called it Xen." opening a folder labeled "Xen" she would study it for a few hours. She learned a lot about this world or rather dimension. "Xen" seemed to act as a border between her world and many others. Black Mesa Research Corporation, was from a world called "Earth" they didn't seem to have Aura, or Grimm and the revelation was shocking. She tried to use her semblance but it didn't seem to work in this dimension. Finally after gathering enough information she decided to explore the facility a bit more.
Passing a small smashed out jar she grabbed the crowbar next to it. "It's not 'Myrtenaster' but it will have to do for now." she said to herself. Entering a room she was awed by the metal suit in front of her. It was painted in a bright azure color, and had a cool dark gray contrasting it. Something that took her by surprise was a symbol on the chestpiece. A small white circle with a lambda placed in the center. Looking down at her tattered clothing, she then spoke "Well… I do need a new outfit, what's the worst that could happen?"
Once the suit was securely on her she heard a slight whirring noise for a moment before it stopped. A female computerized voice spoke "Welcome to the H.E.V. Mark IV protective system, Science variant. For use in hazardous environment conditions & Controlled laboratory experiments. High-impact reactive armor activated. Atmospheric contaminant sensors activated. Vital sign monitoring activated. Automatic medical systems engaged. Defensive weapon selection system activated. Munition level monitoring activated. Analytic scanning module Activated. Communications interface online. Have a very safe day." "Well, let's see if I can find a way home then." she said as she walked out of the room, crowbar in hand.
