Chapter One: Destiny
Stephanie had just caught Morelli, and boy, was she happy about it. She was able to pay her rent and a few other bills. Stephanie was hoping she could see Ranger again. She wanted to get to know him better.
"Earth to Stephanie! Are you there?" Connie said.
"Yeah, sorry," Stephanie said. It was then that her spidey sense went off. The back of her neck tingled whenever Ranger was near. She turned around to see Ranger entering the office.
"Babe, I heard you got Morelli. Good job. Proud of you, Babe," Ranger said as he approached her.
"Thanks, Ranger," Stephanie said, grinning. He could not help but stare into those sparkling blue eyes of hers.
"Why don't I take you out to eat?" Ranger asked her.
"Okay, but you are buying," she replied.
"Deal," Ranger said. Stephanie waved a hand at Connie as they left the office. Ranger opened the door to his Porsche. Stephanie got in and buckled up.
Ranger got into the driver's seat. He pulled away from the curb and drove to a little café where they ate and talked to get to know each other better. Stephanie couldn't help but get lost in his soft brown eyes.
"Why did you choose to become a bond agent?" Ranger asked her.
"In all honesty, it was the only job available," Stephanie told him.
"You are a mystery, Miss Stephanie Plum, and I like mysteries." Ranger looked into her sparkling blue eyes.
After the two of them ate their meals, Ranger brought Stephanie back to her 2001 Jeep Wrangler. She looked at Ranger in the driver's seat. He asked, "Would you mind if I kissed you?"
"I would like that," Stephanie told him.
Ranger cupped her face with both hands and gave her a soft kiss on her lips. The two of them looked at each other for a few minutes. "Thank you for lunch. I hope to see you again," Stephanie said.
She got out of the Porsche and into her Jeep and drove away. "There is something about her. I can't put my finger on it, but I will figure it out," Ranger thought. Ranger started the Porsche and drove away.
