Hello everyone, happy Halloween. Today's one shot is brought to you by the letter F! For Fullmetal Alchemist... sorry it's just fma is the only anime I've watched to completion and I can't stop referencing it. So anyways, todays one shot is set in the modern au style. I just wanted an excuse for Robin and Say'ri to take the Morgan twins trick or treating. I wrote this as a birthday present to me. That's right, yours truly turns 23 years old today... man I'm old. Anyways, enjoy.
By the way I don't own Fire emblem, all rights go to Nintendo and Intelligence systems.
It was a nice cool morning over in the Daraen house. Robin Daraen was fast asleep with his wife, Say'ri snoozing in his arms. Unfortunately he was lifted from his dreams when he heard two sets of giggles. Oh boy.
Groaning himself awake, Robin knew exactly why they interrupted him. Today was Halloween. "Happy Halloween!" Two voices burst through the door and jump on the bed to wake up their parents.
"Couldn't you let us sleep for ten more minutes?" Robin grumbled, placing a pillow over his face.
"Now we can't let you do that, huh daddy?" Robin saw his ten year old daughter pull the pillow off his face and smile at him.
"So rise and shine." his daughter's twin pulled the covers off of him and Say'ri.
"Ugh." Say'ri groaned. "Most adults want to sleep in on a Saturday. Not wake up and make their adorable children breakfast to hype them for trick or treating."
Seeing her son smile at her was enough for Say'ri to smirk before ruffling his white hair. "Alright, but next year, I expect to sleep in." Say'ri got up from the bed and walked out of the master bedroom.
"C'mon daddy, let's get some breakfast." Robin's daughter said.
"Right Morgan." Robin sighed to his daughter before getting up to kiss her on the cheek. "But you two better not try any funny business or trick or treating will be cut short this time." Robin then turned to his son. "That includes you, Linfan."
All Linfan could do was rub the back of his neck and laugh a little as Robin got up and kissed his forehead before he walked out the bedroom.
A couple minutes later, the Daraen family were now in the kitchen table eating pancakes made by Say'ri of course. Robin was currently engrossed in his newspaper drinking his morning coffee, Say'ri ate quietly, while their twins were talking to each other.
Robin then noticed Morgan putting a bit too much syrup on her pancakes. "Morgan, what did we talk about when it comes to syrup?"
"Um... always put as much as you want?" Morgan smiled sheepishly.
"Nice try Fie, but no. Too much syrup is unhealthy for you and can give you a stomach ache." Say'ri smiled at her daughter. "And we don't want to go to the hospital. Again."
Morgan huffed at her mother's comment. "Plus syrup doesn't grow on trees, Morgy."
"Syrup is made out of honey and honey grows on trees." Linfan smiled.
"You're not helping." Robin arched a brow at his son causing him to laugh a little. Of course robin followed suit.
Despite wanting to sleep in, Robin couldn't help but smile at the morning he had with his family. It seemed like yesterday was when he met Say'ri and now they're married with semi successful careers and have two great kids.
"So you guys have you costumes picked out for tonight?" Morgan asked. "Cause we all know who I'll be. Morgan, the witch who casts spells at her enemies."
"And Linfan, the ninja with a code of honor. I slip into the night." Linfan said confidently.
"Well I'm going as Robin Daraen, a thirty four year old college professor who moonlights as a book reviewer." Robin answered.
"But that's your profession." Morgan said. She then Turned to Say'ri. "What about you mother."
"Fie, you know me, I'm too old to be dressing up for Halloween." Say'ri said. "So I'm going as Say'ri Daraen, a thirty five year old office worker who's aiming for a promotion."
"That's easy for you to do. You never celebrated Halloween growing up." Morgan huffed.
That was true. Say'ri's family were strictly conservative so they didn't have a positive view on Halloween. Or anything that clashed with traditional Chon'sin culture.
"Besides, we've done it like that before, what's the difference now?" Robin asked.
Linfan and Morgan looked sheepishly at their parents. And then at each other. Morgan then nodded to Linfan as Linfan nodded back.
"I'll be right back." Linfan got off his seat and ran up to his room. A couple seconds later he came right back out carrying two bags with clothes in them. "Morgan and I saved up for this special occasion."
Morgan got off from her chair and walked next to Linfan, scavenging through the bag and getting a wizard costume. "Tada! A wizard costume. You see dad, I saw this wizard costume in a catalog and knew it was for you."
"And for you mother, it may be a little pricey but I think it's worth it." Linfan pulled out a samurai costume, complete with a plastic katana and sweatband. "I figured since you value Chon'sin culture, I thought why not get you a samurai costume, huh?
Robin looked at the wizard costume and smiled. It did look comfortable, and that's Robin's favorite type of clothing. But Say'ri had her doubts.
"Fie, I don't know. I never dressed up for Halloween." Said Say'ri.
"C'mon mother, pleeeeeease!" Linfan resorted to using his secret weapon. His puppy dog eyes.
Say'ri simply sighed. She never could say no to her little boy. No matter how many times she wanted to. "Alright Fie, just for you, I'll put this on." Say'ri kissed Linfan on the cheek. "But no funny business tonight. One of your pranks and you'll regret it."
"Yes mother." Linfan smiled nervously. A Halloween without his prank. That's something Linfan didn't think he could do.

(Just wanted to clarify, Say'ri's samurai costume is based off of her outfit in Awakening)
Right now, Robin and Say'ri were in their room getting ready to take their kids trick or treating. Robin looked at himself in his costume. Just a long robe that covered his entire body and a pointy hat and a plastic staff. Granted it looked cliched for a wizard costume but Morgan wanted him to wear it so he wasn't gonna complain. Also it was comfortable to wear.
Say'ri however looked dazzling. The samurai costume she was wearing had fit perfectly around her, showing off her nice physique. Linfan was too innocent when he bought this outfit, that was for sure.
"Damn, thinking about tonight, milady!" Robin wrapped his arms tightly around Say'ri from the back.
"Keep talking and you may get lucky, my love." Say'ri smiled at robin.
"WE'RE READY!" The two heard their kids cry from downstairs.
Robin sighed as he was brought out of his fun. While he wanted nothing more but to stay in and ravage his wife, a father must always look after their kids. Especially on Halloween.
Walking down the stairs Robin smiled as he saw his kids in their costumes. Morgan had the cutest witch costume, it was all black, with frills at the end of her poofy skirt, long sleeves, long green socks with black shoes, and a pointy hat to complete the image. Linfan also looked adorable in his ninja costume, it was too, all black, with a red bandana on his eyes, and a plastic sword sheathed to his hip.
"Well if it isn't the most unlikely duo in history. A ninja and a witch." Robin smiled. "Can I hear you cackle, Morgan?"
Morgan smiled before laughing very loudly, mimicking a witch. "Heheheheh!" Before smiling sweetly. "Like that, daddy?"
"Perfect!" Robin said as he handed her her basket for her candy. A cauldron. Robin then turned to Linfan, "and what about you, Lin, can I see you show off you sword techniques."
"Ninja never unsheathe our swords unless in battle. Ninjas have a code of honor!" Linfan smiled.
"Of course you do." Robin said before ruffing his hair. "Try not to stray away from us, Linfan. That costumes gonna make it hard to see you."
"Yes daddy." Linfan said as he took his pumpkin basket from Robin.
"Well I think you two look very cute." Say'ri said as she kissed both her kids on their foreheads.
"Thanks mom." Morgan said. "You look very beautiful in that samurai costume."
"Yeah, I knew you'd like it." Said Linfan.
"Thanks you two." Say'ri smiled. "I have to admit, this isn't what I was expecting for tonight, but for my first time dressing up for Halloween, I can't complain."
"Alright, everyone, let's go. We gotta hit the big houses early if we want the good candy." Said Robin.
"Everyone knows loser candy is for losers." Morgan said as she, Linfan, and Say'ri walked out the door.
Locking it from behind, Robin began to walk with his family to the big houses to get started on trick or treating.
(((0)))
"Trick or treat!" Morgan and Linfan held their baskets in front of a woman giving out candy.
"Why aren't you two the cutest things out there?" Their neighbor Camilla said. "Well I have no choice but to give you two the big chocolate bars tonight for being so cute." She got out to large bars of chocolate and placed both of them in the baskets. "Run along now."
"Thanks Ms. Krakenburg." Morgan smiled before grabbing Linfan's arm and walked away from her house.
Camilla then smiled as she said "better than those stupid college parties I never get invited to!" The college girl allowed a tear to slip pass her.
"Wow those baskets are filling up fast." Say'ri said as she got out her bag and opened. "Quick put your candy in here."
"Man I love these bigger houses, they always give out the best candy." Linfan said as he dumped his and Morgan's candy in Say'ri's bag.
"Hey look!" Morgan pointed towards a house decorated as a haunted one "let's go to that house, I bet they have something real scary."
"Don't walk to fast kids." Robin said as he and Say'ri walked to the house that caught Morgan and Linfan's eyes.
Walking through the front yard, the two took in the scenary of how spooky it looked. Grave stones and cobwebs everywhere. Ringing the door bell, the door opened with fog releasing and a neatly dressed man with a mustache walking out.
"Good evening children, happy Halloween!" Said their neighbor. "Mr. Hanneman has some very nice treats for you!" He said as he placed four pieces of candy each into their baskets.
"Wow!" The twins said with wide eyed unison.
"Take care children and before you leave!" Mr. Hanneman stepped aside to allow someone wearing a werewolf mask to scar the kids.
"Rawr!" The masked individual screamed making Morgan and Linfan run away screaming. Laughing, the masked individual took off the mask to reveal a woman smiling. "Oh that never gets old."
"Come manuela, we have more to scare." Said Hanneman.
Running up to the parents at the front of the yard, the two caught their breathes before speaking to them.
"That was a rush." Morgan said.
"So far, best house we visited." Said Linfan.
Morgan then turned her head towards another house and smiled. "Unless that spookier house over there is even better." She grabbed Linfan's arm and ran towards the spookier house.
"Kids, what did I tell you about running too fast." Robin and Say'ri ran after their kids.
Making it to the entrance to the yard, the house looked a lot more scary. Cobwebs on the trees, tombstones everywhere and giant fake spiders on the house.
"Go in, if you dare!" A man walked up to them wearing a black cloak said. "But do be warned, for if you die, your souls will be mine." He held out his hands, causing the two kids to hold onto each other and shiver in fear.
Running up, robin saw his kids holding into eachother. Knowing what to do, Robin said "want me to walk with you to get your candy?"
"Yes daddy, please!" Morgan held onto Robin's arm while Linfan held his other hand.
"Come on let's go, dad!" Said Linfan as they started walking to through the yard and to the house.
Standing next to the entrance to the yard, Say'ri smiled at the black cloaked man. "Fie, I like your costume!"
"Thanks Say'ri, I hope it wasn't too scary." The man pulled down his hood to reveal her oc worker, Seteth.
"Seteth, what are you doing here?" Say'ri asked. Seteth worked at the same office building Say'ri worked at, so she knew him in an instant.
"Well My sister, Rhea, wanted to put up a haunted house and wanted me help." Said Seteth. "Flayne just turned fifteen so she isn't too keen on trick or treating anymore. She's off at a party with friends."
"How come?" Say'ri asked.
"Well after a certain age, kids just don't want to celebrate this stuff anymore." Said Seteth. "They outgrow it, and before you know it, they're teens. I'm gonna miss those times."
This got Say'ri thinking. Her kids were ten, which means they are in the last days of childhood. They weren't gonna stay her babies forever. Something about that got her stomach turning the wrong way.
"Oh, I didn't mean to make you sad." Seteth said.
"No it's fine!" Say'ri said. "I guess I never thought about that till now."
Back with Robin, Morgan had clung onto his arm tighter as they got to the door. Ringing the door bell, Morgan braced herself as it opened.
"Come in, my dear. Come see my haunted mansion and claim your prize." The lady dressed as a witch said.
"Principle Rhea?" Linfan asked.
"Don't ruin the mood, kid." Said Rhea.
"Oh sorry." Linfan said.
Walking into the house, robin had to admit how nicely decorated it was. Rhea must've pent some time making sure it would scare some kids. He looked down and saw Linfan was intrigued. But Morgan was terrified and held onto Robin's arm. Currently in the living room of the house, robin looked at a sign that said ''go down the hall' so he did just that. Just then, a fake ghost popped out and made a jump scare.
"Ah!" Morgan screamed, cowering in Robin's arm.
"Relax Morgan, it's just plastic." Robin said in a comforting voice.
"Relax Morgan. It's okay." Linfan assured her as they continued walking.
Walking out of the hall, they were in the kitchen now seeing chef with a platter. "Care for some of my specialty!" He showed off a severed head on the platter.
"Daddy! Save me!" Morgan screamed as she hid behind Robin.
"Relax Morgan, it's just a fake head from the party store." Robin said.
"Don't break the allusion!" The chef said.
"Wait, aren't you in my English class?" Robin got a closer look. "Ashe?"
"Professor Daraen, please I'm trying to play a bit here." Said Ashe.
"Alright then." Robin said as he walked his kids away from the kitchen.
Walking away from the kitchen, they went through another hall with dim lighting. As they continued to walk, a stuffed spider jumped in front of them. Playfully pushing the fake spider aside, they came across another room. It was a lab set up with a mad scientist and his creation strapped to a table.
"Welcome my guests to dr. Ignatz new invention." Ignatz said.
"What is it then, Victor." Robin asked. "Is it your essay that's due in two days?"
"Try not to rush perfection, Professor!" Ignatz said as a pulled a level. The lights went on and off until his creation rose up. "It's alive!"
"Cool!" Linfan said. "This is sick, right Morgy!" He turned to see Morgan hiding behind Robin.
"I am Fraken-Kirsten!" Raphael said dressed as Frankenstein's monster.
"It's alive!!!!" Ignatz chanted.
"Come on, let's go!" Morgan dragged Robin and Linfan out of the room in fear as they continued to walk through the house. Walking further and further they finally made it to the last room. The exit. "Finally. That was really scar-" she was interrupted when a pirate jumped in front of her with his plastic sword and said "argh, gimme your candy!"
"Ah!" Morgan screamed as she punched the pirate in the face.
"Ouch, that hurt!" The pirate held his nose at where Morgan punched him.
"Nice tactic, Sylvain. That jump scare almost got me." Robin said.
"Thanks professor Daraen." Said Sylvain. "When Rhea asked me and my buddies to help her with her haunted house, we had no choice but to act in it. It was pretty sick."
"Come get your candy." The three turned to see a girl dressed as a knight walking up to them with a large bowl of candy.
"Ingrid, fare costume as usual." Said Robin.
"Thank you professor Daraen." Ingrid smiled. She then turned to the two kids in front of her. "Now for being such brave kids, you each get five pieces each. "
"Wow, thanks!" Linfan said.
"Yeah. Sure." Morgan sighed.
Robin saw Morgan's sad look and knew what something was up. "What's wrong, sweet heart?"
"It's just, I was so terrified in that house, daddy. I thought I was brave but I clearly wasn't. You must be disappointed in me." Morgan sighed.
"Far from it." Robin said getting her attention. "You may have been terrified, but you still went in anyways and faced your fears. That's exactly what a Daraen does."
Morgan smiled as she hugged Robin and kissed his cheek "thanks for protecting me daddy."
"Anything for my little girl." Robin then bent upwards. "Now come on. We need to go back to your mother." Robin then turned to Ingrid and Sylvain. "I'll see you two on Monday." He and his kids walked up to Say'ri as she hugged both her kids and smiled.
"How was the haunted house?" Say'ri asked.
"Oh, it was real fun. A little scary but nothing a ninja like me can't handle." Said Linfan.
"I bet." Say'ri said as she ruffled his head.
"Well that house was too scary." Morgan shivered. "Let's go find another scary house!"
"Okay!" Linfan said as Morgan grabbed his rist and the two ran.
"Will you two stop running?!!!" Robin seethed as he and Say'ri ran after their kids.

After another hour of trick or treating, the Daraen family were about ready to go home until Say'ri suggested they have dinner first. The first place that popped up in the twins minds was the nearby Shakey's pizza parlor, which was where they were at.
"Alright, I ordered us two pies and they'll be here any second now." Robin said as he walked to the booth with his wife and kids were sitting. He then got out a twenty and handed it to Morgan and Linfan. "Here, go exchange it for some tokens and have fun. I'll call you when the foods here."
"Thanks dad!" Linfan said as he took the money and he and Morgan ran to the arcade area of the parlor.
"Will you two stop running!" Robin ordered as he sat down next to Say'ri. "Why do I even try? They never listen."
"Hehe, my love, don't strain yourself." Say'ri said. "After all, aren't wizards supposed to be all wise."
"That may be, but this wizard has thirteen essays to grade over the weekend." Robin took a drink of soda. "And that's not even counting my entire class who hasn't turned it in until Monday. I swear, being a college professor is a pain."
"I think you do a fine job my love." Say'ri said. "As for me, I have a presentation I need to work on for my boss. If all goes right, I could be looking at a promotion."
"Well look at you, climbing up the cereer ladder." Robin wrapped one arm around Say'ri's shoulder. "And I thought Samurai's just walk around town on their horses looking to smite their foes." This got Say'ri to playfully slap Robin's chest and laugh with him.
Say'ri then turned her eye to the arcade section of the place and smiled as her kids were playing a game. More like Linfan was playing the game while Morgan cheered him on.
"Look at them Robin, our babies are growing up." Say'ri said. "Soon they'll be in high school, going on dates and before we know it, they'll move out and start their own families. And we'll be all alone."
"Say'ri, where'd this come from?" Robin asked.
Say'ri then sighed. "I was talking to my co worker Seteth outside the haunted house, and he said how grown his daughter has gotten. And how she's outgrown Halloween. It got me thinking how few years we have left until our kids are no longer kids." She then looked at Robin in the eye. "Robin, aren't you sad that they're growing up too fast."
"Of course I'm sad about them growing up." Robin said. "The happiest day of my life was when they were born. Holding Morgan and Linfan in my arms made cry that day. But I know they can't stay young forever." He then looked over to the arcade. "Sure they're ten now, but who knows how long they'll stay innocent." Robin then turned to Say'ri to kiss her temple. "But I know that we still have a lot of good years with them. I think it'll be a while before some kid is calling us grandpa or grandma."
"I guess I did overreact a little." Said Say'ri.
"Just a tad." Robin laughed.
Just then a waitress with two pizzas set them on their booth. Grabbing two slices and putting it on his plate, Robin said "kids, food is here."
"Just a minute daddy!" Morgan turned to robin before turning back to Linfan playing his game.
"Our kids sure do like to goof off." Say'ri laughed as she she took a bite of pizza.

Later that night, after enjoying a large dinner, robin was carrying Morgan up the stairs to her room while Say'ri was carrying Linfan to his room.
Laying his little girl down on her bed, robin tucked her in and smiled. "Good night my sweet."
"Good night daddy." Morgan said tiredly. "Phew, I ate too much pizza. I don't think I'll have room for my candy tomorrow."
"Hehe, you'll be fine." Robin then kissed Morgan on the forehead. "Sleep well."
In Linfan's room, Say'ri had tucked her little boy in bed, making sure to ruffle his hair. "Good night my love, sleep well."
"Good night mother." Linfan yawned. "Tonight was so much fun. You and dad look so cool in those costumes Morgan and I got ya. Can't wait for you costumes next year." Linfan then got a nervous look. "There will be a next time for you, right mother?"
All he got was a kiss on the cheek. "I look forward to your new costume for me next year." She got to turn off his light, closing the door behind her to let Linfan sleep.
Meeting her husband in their room, Say'ri smiled as she saw him taking wearing usual plain t shirt and pajama pants to bed.
"I say tonight was a successful Halloween." Robin said as he put the costume in their hamper. "Wouldn't you agree."
"Oh yes, I think this may have been my favorite one so far." Say'ri smiled seductively as she walked up to robin. "But I know of a way to make this night even better."
"And what might that be?" Robin asked as Say'ri started to kiss his neck. "That sounds great."
Say'ri pushed Robin on the bed as the two began to make sweet, passionate love long into the night. While they had a lot of responsibilities in their life, both Robin and Say'ri cherished the little family they had. Life was good.
Well that was fun. I love modern aus but the majority of them play it straight and only have the popular pairings. Just once, I'd like to see an obscure pairing in this au. Thanks for reading everyone and Please leave a review. Take care.
