The Girl Deprived
Chapter 1- Despair:
Izumi Midoriya stood across from her childhood friend turned bully, shielding the crying boy behind her from further harm.
"Why are you being so mean Kacchan!? If you don't stop, I'll… I'll stop you myself!" She yelled, hoping the boy standing before her and his goons would heed her warning.
"What's this? Defenceless little Izumi is trying to play hero" He said, sparking miniature explosions all the while "You can't be a hero without a quirk! Let us show you how useless you are!"
He then charged her with his goons in tow, leaving her laying on the ground bruised and burned.
A downtrodden, and now 14 years old, Izumi Midoriya entered her apartment in Musutafu, softly crying whilst sorrowfully reminiscing on the day's events. Firstly, she had been attacked by a villain made of literal sludge, who had proceeded to almost drown her before she was saved. She could still feel the awful taste in her mouth, probably due to how the villain had just been crawling around in the sewers, she mused.
Then, after waking up, it was revealed that she had been saved by All Might. THE All Might. He had captured the villain in two plastic bottles, and signed her notebook. She had both met and received an autograph from her favourite hero. The number one hero. One would be hard pressed to make a day with that much positivity the second worst day of a girl's life, but alas there she was. All Might had then jumped off to take the villain to the police station, but had been forced to land on a nearby building as this weak, seemingly quirkless girl had latched onto his leg so that she could ask him the one question that had plagued her mind since the day a doctor uttered a world-shattering sentence.
So, she opened her heart and said "Is it possible to become a hero, even without a quirk? I'm a normal girl with no special power to call my own. Can I ever hope to be someone like you!?"
And then, All Might uttered just two sentences that only barely hurt her less than the sentence that ruined her life.
"Some villains just can't be beaten without powers, pro heroes with powerful quirks are killed by villains every day. So no, to answer your question, kid, you can't be a hero, not without a quirk."
And just like that, the young girl's dreams were shattered without a care in the world, for only the second time in her life. And yet it still hurt as much as the first.
"Oi brat! What are you just standing there crying for!? I've been telling you to wash the dishes for five minutes now!" she was suddenly snapped out of her musings by her very angry mother. "Geez I knew quirkless people were useless, but I didn't know they were THIS useless!"
"Yes ma'am…" she said half-heartedly.
"What was that!?"
"Yes Ma'am!"
Hours later, after preparing her own dinner and doing all the chores that needed doing, she could finally return to the three things that could offer her any form of respite, her room, her notebooks, and her hoodie.
However, after reading through all of her notes on the various quirks she had seen, she found herself more distressed than she was before. After all, reading about the thing that her not having ruined her life was not what one would call comforting.
So, she turned to an alternative that she had never tried before. Theorising.
Then, she got to work. And the first quirk she could think of was one that she wished she could have inherited. Fire Breathing.
Izumi thought back to just a few minutes before her world got shattered for the first time. She remembered one of the few things left from when her mother was kind.
"I can attract small objects and my husband can breathe fire."
And her pen moved faster than should have been possible, racing to keep up with her mind moving at mach speed.
And here was her end result.
Quirk: Dragon's Breath
Type: Emitter
Description: The user can release a flammable gas from a gland parallel to the salivary gland that can be shot up to 20 meters. They can also produce heat from within their lungs that is channelled through their trachea and into their mouth, igniting the gas, allowing the user to spew fire from their mouth.
Weaknesses: Their throat can be burned by overuse of their quirk and they are prone to overheating like Endeavor. Gas can also be ignited by exterior sources. Only the user's internal organs have heat resistance.
And then, something miraculous happened.
Her she saw a bright, white light emanate from her hoodie, before it faded and a red light emanated from her bed and a red hoodie with a small symbol resembling a dragon breathing fire appeared. Her instincts screamed at her to touch it, and she did so, after hesitating in typical Izumi fashion.
Then, that same red glow enveloped her hoodie, before the red one disappeared, reappearing on her person. Feeling a need to exhale, she did, and a small torrent of flames spewed forth from her mouth, luckily being so small that it didn't burn anything.
She stood there in shock for a few moments, being unable to do anything but question what had just transpired.
Then she came to a realisation.
She had a quirk
