The Girl Deprived
Chapter 2: Discovery and Trials
As she stood there after her world rebuilding discovery, hope for two things once again cemented themselves in her heart, and she immediately rushed to pursue one of them.
"Mum! Mum! Something amazing's happened!"
"What is it brat!? Can't you see I'm busy!? And also, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING CALLING ME ANYTHING OTHER THAN MA'AM!?" Inko Midoriya yelled from the living room, her eyes never leaving the TV screen.
"Sorry, Ma'am! It's just…. I've got a quirk! I can be a hero!" Izumi excitedly replied, her heart filled with hope that things could be how they were before that damned doctor uttered that sentence.
Then her heart drooped as the only sounds that reached her ears were the characters on the TV talking and her mother…. Laughing?
"Mu- Ma'am? Aren't you happy? I'm not useless anymore! Things can be like they were!"
"A quirk!? You!? Are you messing with me brat!? Why don't you prove that you have a quirk! I can't wait to see you utterly fail at trying to use one again!" Her mother bellowed out.
So, Izumi thought back to how she felt when she spewed fire for the first time, replicating that feeling. It was then that a torrent of flames came forth from her gaping maw, some of them almost burning Inko.
After a moment of shock, Inko screeched at her daughter in pure rage "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? YOU ALMOST BURNED ME YOU UNGRATEFUL BRAT" She slapped Izumi on each cheek before sitting back down "You are never to use your quirk in this house ever again! Do you understand!? And nothing's changed now that you have a quirk, you're still just as useless as before! Now get the fuck out of my sight!"
"B-But-"
"No buts! Get the fuck out before I do more than just slap you girl!" Inko roared.
Izumi left and returned to her room, curling up into a ball on her bed and weeping into her arms.
Then, she started thinking.
Wait… This all started after I made up that quirk, 'Dragon's Breath'! What if my quirk isn't just-
Then she was interrupted by a bright white light, her red hoodie fading to be replaced by her regular purple one.
Wait what!? It's gone!... That actually makes sense, from what I can tell, my quirk is transformation type, allowing me to gain powers after I write their quirk type, description and weaknesses. But… that doesn't make sense! I've done that same thing hundreds if not thousands of times but nothing happened! The only thing different here was that I was… theorising… Okay! I'm trying this again!
And she got back to work, both pen and mind moving in perfect sync as another quirk she always admired came to mind.
Quirk: Gale Wings
Type: Mutation
Description: The user has large, eagle like wings on their back that can be used for flight. The feathers can be arranged to create a fan like formation that can allow the user to create gale force winds directly in front of them. The user can also pull them off to use like throwing knives. Feathers can be reattached if collected.
Weaknesses: feathers are extremely susceptible to fire and take a day to grow back. The user can only lose a certain number of feathers before becoming unable to fly.
After she had finished writing the final word, the same white light enveloped her hoodie, before a blue light appeared on her bed, revealing the same hoodie as before, but blue and with two wing like symbols on the chest, instead of a dragon.
She reached out and touched the new hoodie, causing it to glow and replace her current one.
Huh, so this really is my quirk! This is amazing! Now I have two powers and I can make more! Though they do seem to fade after a while, I'll have to test that. I also need to practice with 'Gale Wings' and 'Dragon's Breath'!
After thinking that, she realised that she could feel her powers inside of her, and that Gale Wings felt both larger and warmer than Dragon's Breath. She then deduced that they had a time limit and a cooldown, seeing as she remembered Dragon's breath being larger earlier and that Gale Wings was slowly getting smaller. After 5 minutes, she now knew that each power had a 5 minute time limit and 10 minute cooldown at the moment.
I can be a hero... I can do it! No, I will do it! I'll give people hope, I'll get them out of bad situations! I'll save them!
It was then that Izumi Midoriya really thought she could do it. Then that for the first time in years, she had hope.
10 Months later…
Izumi walked towards the gates of battle ground B, nervous yet confident at the same time. She was wearing her usual purple hoodie, along with black tracksuit bottoms and trainers. Her hood was up and her long green hair was down, masking the bruise her mother had given her that morning after finding out where Izumi was going.
She strode towards the front of the group of applicants, but was quickly stopped as a firm hand grabbed her by the shoulder. She turned around cautiously, revealing a tall, blue haired boy, wearing glasses and who had engines in his legs.
"That girl looks like she's trying to concentrate, what were you going to do? Distract her and doom her chances of getting in?" He questioned, a stern, disapproving look on his face.
"N-no! I was just going up to the-"she squeaked out, before being interrupted.
"And that ridiculous clothing for such a physical and important exam! Are you taking this seriously or just wasting this grand institution's ti-"The boy scolded.
"What are you all waiting for!? The time's already ticking down folks. Go! Go! Go!" Present Mic yelled from atop the examiner's booth.
Everyone stood in shock for a second before frantically rushing in, leaving Izumi behind.
Crap! I'm already behind! Ok, think Izumi think! She thought before rushing in after the others. Ok DB requires breath, so I should use that first and save GW for later, as that order works best for endurance.
She rushed in, activating Dragon's Breath, her hoodie changing to DB Style. She continued running until a 1 pointer ambushed her, attempting a sucker punch. She dodged before taking a deep breath and exhaling as hard as she could, a large torrent of orange flames spewing forth and melting the robot.
She continued running through the fake city, melting robots and accumulating 21 points in 3 minutes before she ran out of enough stamina to use Dragon's Breath effectively.
Ok, DB is down for now, it's a good thing I increased my limits with it and GW to around 7 minutes.
She then switched from Dragon's Breath to Gale Wings, her DB Style hoodie being replaced with her GW Style, before taking of and flying around at superhuman speed, throwing her feathers at the eyes of robots like kunai and then collecting them and throwing them again.
She did this until there were two minutes left on the exam, gathering a total of 47 points, before a deep rumbling was heard and buildings were destroyed, a giant robot with a 'zero' on it's left shoulder rose up, delivering a punch to the ground, sending a cloud of dust to form and debris to fly everywhere.
Turning to fly away, she heard a scream, a scream of pure terror coming from the direction of the ginormous robot.
"Help!" A brunette girl with rosy cheeks yelled "I'm stuck! Somebody help!" She screamed before beginning to weep.
Izumi moved before she had a chance to think, her body moving towards the trapped girl at speeds she did not know she was capable of. By the time her brain caught up, she had already descended on the girl, flapping her fan like wings as hard as she could in an attempt to remove the rubble. However, when this did not work, she removed some of her feathers and dug them into the rubble, before stepping back and beating her wings desperately, driving the feathers through and splintering the rocks. With one last mighty flap of her wings, Izumi dislodged the fragments of rubble, freeing the girl. But she wasn't done yet.
"Run! This place is about to become a lot more dangerous!" she yelled before switching back to DB Style.
She made sure the girl had made it a safe distance before inhaling as much air as she could, and exhaling as hardly and as quickly as possible, launching a massive fireball at the robot. Then, switching back to GW Style, she flapped as hard as she could, increasing speed of the flames before the ball made contact with the zero pointer, melting half of it's face of in a massive explosion.
She then had to turn around and propel herself away from where the robot was falling, using the last of her time for GW Style, her hoodie returning to it's normal hoodie, the hood having been forced down in the escape, her massive bruise showing.
That's it for chapter 2, I hope you enjoyed it! And remember, any and all feedback is appreciated!
