Almost Everything

Chapter 7

Sure it wasn't perfect back then.

But it was better than being strangers again.

Ever since that day.

The things I didn't say

They haunt me.

The sun eventually shined through the open silts of the windows.

Haley can honestly say she doesn't know what she wanted.

"We can forget this if you want.?" Nathan suggested.

Once Haley had awoken beside him.

"I thought if i stayed away long enough. It would be bearable."

"Dealing with this town. Seeing my friends. You."

"Did you tell me you were in love with me because you wanted to be honest or were you just caught up in a moment."

"Wanting to relive the past.?" Haley asked.

Nathan sighed deeply. Thinking over her question.

"I don't know. I never stopped loving you."

"But we don't know each other anymore." He replied.

Haley swallowed hard.

"We're strangers who share a past."

"Maybe that's all we ever need to be. Too much has happened."

"To go back or forward." Haley said.

Nathan nodded his head in agreement. He got showered and dressed. Leaving behind the necklace with his wedding ring on the end table.

Haley couldn't watch him leave again. She only got out of bed.

When she heard the door to her room close.

She went to the nearby bathroom. And showered closing her eyes.

As the hot water covered her body. Leaving the bathroom after her shower. Wrapped in a towel.

She slowly got dressed. That 23 on her lower back

Still existed.

Haley finished packing. Took the necklace with his wedding ring.

Putting it around her neck.

As she checked out of the hotel room.

Made her way to her car.

Awaiting her Deb and Dan.

Haley moved past them and got into her car.

"If you're smart. You'll leave and not come back." Deb said.

"I'm Dan Scott. I'm more powerful then you realize." Dan stated matter of fact.

"Gate keeping Nathan's life won't make him love either of you."

"But i guess that's all the two of you have left. Because you're miserable together." Haley proclaimed as she pulled out of the parking space.
