Chapter 9
You could be happy but i won't know.
You werent happy the day i watched you go.
Nathan wanted to talk to Haley alone without a crowd around.
In the mean time the housewarming party went on for hours.
Catered food. Fresh drinks. A dessert table. Ongoing music.
If Nathan knew anything it was how to put on a show.
But when it came to Haley he was vunerable and open.
In a way only she brought forward in him.
"I didn't think you were going to show up."
"I missed you alot." Nathan admitted.
"I wasn't sure i would show my face here."
"I didn't see Dan or Deb did they forget or are just waiting outside to confront me.?" Haley asked.
"I didn't invite them. I'm trying to set boundaries."
"Plus i didn't want them possibly ruining our reunion." Nathan explained.
"God you look beautiful." Nathan said.
"We need to talk. I'm with someone. In a relationship."
"I'm happy Nathan." Haley explained.
Nathan felt his heart sink.
"Do you love him.? Does he make you're heart race.?" Nathan asked.
Haley sighed deeply. Staring back at him.
"It doesn't matter. I let you go. Maybe you should the same." Haley replied.
"I bought it. This house. For you. For us." Nathan explained.
Haley recognized it right away.
She leaned over and kissed him gently.
"I came here to say goodbye." Haley said.
Turning from him as she left the home.
The tears silently fell from Nathan's eyes.
Haley swallowed hard. Pushing back the tears that threatened to fall. Until she got inside her car.
Haley had lied so well she almost believed it.
She was single as she ever had been.
She had come back for Nathan.
But he could never know. They could never be together. So what was the point.?
