Invisible Ties

Chapter 5

I find myself running home to your

Sweet nothings.

To you I can admit

That I'm just too soft for all of it.

Later on that day.

Breakfast and dinner were highlights of the day for Lucas and it had nothing to do with the food.

It was the time that was set aside for all of them to be together as a family. No interuptions or electronics allowed. Just conversation.

"How long are you and momma going to be gone for.?" Alaska asked.

Tonight's dinner was chili. potato skins. With a cinnamon rolls for dessert.

Lucas was the main cook in the house. While Brooke was more hands on with everything else regarding their home.

With the kids they shared responsibilities.

"So which one of us in charge until you get back.?" Landon asked.

"It's clearly me. I'm the oldest." Langston proclaimed.

"You're one year older then me. I'm too old for a babysitter."

"Plus i'm way more responsible then you." Landon replied.

"Boys there is no need for this back and forth."

"The both of you are in charge while we're away." Lucas proclaimed.

"Lets go over the rules. No drinking/ No drugs.

No parties. No girls in you're room or anywhere else." Brooke stated matter of fact.

...

Sometime Later

"So about the whole no girls situation. Langston has a girlfriend. They've been together for a few months now." Lucas explained to his wife.

Brooke looked back at her husband. "Why didn't he tell me.?" She asked.

"Well you can be over protective. Some might say judgemental. When it comes to the boys." Lucas replied.

"You are the same way when it comes to Allie. She is never allowed to date according to you."

"Anyway i want to meet this girl. And her parents. When we get back."

"What else do i need to know.?" Brooke asked.

Lucas sighed deeply. "They are sleeping together safely of course." He admitted.

Brooke took a deep breath. "I'm to bed." She replied.
