Shepard floated through a vast void of infinite black, pondering what he could have done to have lived, even though that was behind him now, and he most likely was not coming back this time. 'If this is the afterlife, I'm gonna get bored quick.' He thought as he continued to spin himself aimlessly in the empty space.
Suddenly his train of thought was derailed by him spotting something. A man sat in a chair, brown trench coat, black hair, and slightly punchable face. He was sat in a chair next to a small table and another chair. He beckoned over to it, and called out for him. "Have a seat." the man said, as Shepard tried his best to float his way over to the chair. A glass filled with a strong smelling liquor appeared on the table. "Don't worry, just scotch." The man said. "Now listen to me, I know this must seem strange but I can explain in due time. I'm Zach, by the way." The man, now known as Zach explained. "Alright, hit me, anything's better than endless nothing." Shepard said, thankful that the afterlife, much like its real life counterpart, had alcohol. "I didn't intend to just sit here and chat, I have a proposition, which involves you continuing living." This excited Shepard, He'd be able to see Tali again, and Garrus, and Ashley, and everyone on the Normandy. "What's the catch?" He asked, his intrigue building. "The catch is, I get to control the world around you, and send you on missions I've created. You'll still work for the alliance, but I have some new thing's I'd like to see in this universe." He pulled out a piece of paper and a pen, the paper was blank except for a line that requested a signature. "So, Shepard, ready to get back to the land of the living?" Zach asked, handing him the pen.
The short answer was hell yes he was, he'd grabbed the pen and signed the paper before the last word fell out of Zach's mouth. "Alright, I'll supply you with a new ship, one with better living situations for everyone, seeing as the last didn't fair so well. And, oh yeah, sorry about the whole, impalement thing." Zach said, raising his hand. "Wait, impalement, what are y-" Shepard was cut off by Zach snapping, and the surroundings disappearing as he drifted into sleep.
