I do not own Criminal Minds, I do own Sam Winchester and any other Ocs.

Small warning there will be blood in this fic, nothing bad just a small warning.

The Bet.

Spencer walked in to the office and looked like a thunder cloud was hanging over his head.

"Good morning Spence," JJ said all too chippy for Spencer's opinion

He only grumble growled a "Morning" back to her, before he stomped passed her and nearly throw himself down on his chair and started on the paperwork.

JJ just stood and looked after her young friend wondering what had happened, then she remembered that a couple of months earlier Spencer and Sam had had a fight about motorbike, maybe Spencer's mood had something to do with that.

Rossi come walking in took one look at JJ's worried face and the, to be honest, angry paperwork writing that Spencer was doing.

"Good morning my friends," He said

JJ greeted the older agent a half happy morning while Spencer had to stop himself from growling "What so good about it?" instead a deep growl could be heard from him.

Rossi looked just as surprised as JJ.

"What the matter with him?" he whispered to JJ who just shrugged her shoulders.

Rossi turn and really looked at his young friend and saw one thing was missing.

"Hey kid, I was going to grab some coffee want some?" he called to Spencer

When Spencer heard the word coffee he reacted but not in the way he use to no he flinched like someone had given him a great shock of electricity and a soft sound escape him sounding like a whimper.

"No…thanks…you…Rossi," he managed to ground out from clenched teeth and the grip on his pen was so hard his knuckles turned white as bones and for a moment JJ and Rossi feared that the pen would break and hurt Spencer.

Then the words registries in their brains, Spencer Reid had just said no to coffee, something they know he never do as he more or less lived on the drink most days. Something was really wrong they thought.

Spencer looked up and saw two of his friends look at him with worried faces, any other normal day he would have smiled and told them that nothing was wrong but today was not a normal day.

"Could you please let me work in peace," he said in an irritated voice

JJ and Rossi took the hint and fled the room, Spencer signed deeply and rubbed his face with his hands before he took a swing of the water bottle he had with him and made a grimace not that it tasted bad or anything it just tasted like well water as it was water, oh how he missed coffee so much.

Garcia come around to ask him about something but before she could JJ stopped her and whispered that it may not be the smartest thing to do at the moment as Spencer's mood had grown darker and darker as the day got on.

Spencer draw a deep sigh when he saw that it was finally the end of the day and he could return home and before anyone could stop him he was gone if this had been a cartoon there would have been a cloud shaped Spencer left behind.

The next day Spencer walked in silence and sat down grabbing the pen and start doing paperwork, this time it was Prentiss that ask if he wanted some coffee and was shocked when with gritted teeth Spencer said a short No thanks.

Before he tried to focus on what he was writing.

But as the week went on the team notice that Spencer's mood did get a bit better and he would not snap at them if they ask if he wanted coffee, he would still tighten his gripe on whatever he was holding so hard his knuckles would turn white as he said no thanks and as the week progressed his smile looked more and more strained.

And Garcia could have sworn that she saw him giving his water bottle a death stare one late day.

Rossi was the one that notice one more thing and that was the fact that Spencer would as the day grow yawn more and more, until he would start to nod of, which was strange as Spencer had never before been this tired. On Thursday Rossi found Spencer fast asleep at his desk drool running down from a corner of his mouth and soft snore could he heard from him, and just as Rossi was about to gently shake his young friend awaken, after taking a picture first of course, he stop when he heard the sleeping man mumble something, he leaned in closer.

But he couldn't really make out what the young sleeping agent was saying.

It was Friday afternoon and closed to the end of the week of work.

"Hey Spencer," JJ called out to her friend

"Yes JJ," Spencer said with big yawn he was soo closed to the end in more way then one.

"I and the other was thinking that it would be fun to go to that new place," she said "I have heard that they have some amazing coffees there, wanna come? You could ask Sam if she want to come too, I believe they have teas there too."

Spencer nodded and smiled tiredly it took him a few extra seconds for him tired and caffeine deprived brain to get what his friend had said but the word coffee made his body react in pure reflex, to JJ's horror she saw how Spencer's grip on the water glass he was holding grow tighter and tighter until it shattered leaving broken pieces embedded into Spencer's hand blood soon started to drip down his still clenched hand.

At first he didn't feel the pain from the wounds in his hand but then slowly it started to burn.

"SPENCE!" JJ called out in shock over what her friend had done.

This "woke" Spencer up. He open up his hand and let the glass shards fall down some was deep embedded in his hand and wouldn't fall, he looked down at the now bleeding hand with a small frown.

"That hurt," was all he said staring at the blood dripping from his hand.

JJ just stared at her friend calm reaction and didn't know if she should be worried by it or not.

"I think I should go to the ER," Spencer said softly

"I will drive you," JJ said "But first let wrap that hand up a bit."

Spencer nodded and like a dog he followed JJ as they first grabbed a bandage to wrap around the bleeding hand and then to her car.

"Spence I am really worried about you," JJ said while driving.

"Why?" Spencer asked "For the hand? JJ it will be okay, most of the cuts are not that deep and with the bandage I will not bleed to death not that I would without it either. I am going to be okay."

"No that just the hand," his friend said "You have been acting weird all week."

Spencer blushed and stared out the window.

"Sorry," he said

"Spencer please answer me honestly," JJ said "Is everything okay with you and Sam? You two haven't have another fight like that about the motorcycle? I mean first your foul mood and then Rossi found you fast asleep at your desk, we are all worried about you."

This made Spencer smile even with the pain he felt in his hand.

"No nothing is wrong with us," He said and for the first time in a week he seemed like normal again.

"Then why did you act so… weird this week," JJ had to ask

Once again Spencer blushed, he was just about to tell when his phone rang.

"Hello," he said a bit happy to not having to tell JJ the reason for his behaviour this week. "Oh, Okay. Umm I am sort of on my way there too, yeah glass sort of shattered in my hand. No it is still two days left of the week! I know!"

JJ who had stopped at a traffic light turn her head and looked at her younger friend.

"Sam?" she asked and got a nod in return. "What has happened? And what about the two days left thing?"

Spencer made a sound that sounded something between a sigh and a mumbled.

"Sorry I didn't catch that," JJ said

"Sam sort of is on her way to the ER too," Spencer said "the same as we are and we should actually arrive around the same time as she and her co-worker."

"Okay what happened to her? Don't tell me that she too shattered a glass in her hand like you," JJ said half joking.

Spencer laugh a bit and shook his head.

"No she sort of tripped when she was going down a staircase and has most likely just sprain her ankle," he explained

And just as Spencer had said when he and JJ arrived at the ER there sitting on a chair was Smiling Sam waiting for them her left ankle was bare and swollen black and blue.

"Hello fancy seeing you two here," she said as Spencer with his now a bit bloody bandage sat down beside her.

"We were feeling bored so I thought shattering a glass with my bare hand would brighten up the afternoon," Spencer said just a tad sarcastic.

Sam looked at his bloody wrapped hand a bit worried.

"Why did you feel the need to shatter a glass?" She asked feeling she know the answer

"I asked him if he and you wanted to go and try a new café that had coffee and teas," JJ said returning with two sign in papers for them.

Sam smiled a bit before she yawn big.

"Oh that's why," she just said and with a thanks she took one of the papers and started writing on it and Spencer took the other paper and start to write on it.

JJ just stood there staring at the two.

"So are you two going to tell me what is going on?" she asked

Sam looked at Spencer and JJ could have sworn that they were holding a silence conversation in the end Sam nodded.

"We are having a bet," Spencer said

"A BET!" snapped JJ "What sort of stupid bet… you have giving up coffee!"

Spencer nodded and added that Sam had given up Tea.

JJ didn't know if she should laugh or scream at them, of all stupid things it could have been a bet was not something she had even thought of.

"So your weird moods and falling asleep was just caffeine withdraw?" she asked or more demanded

Spencer blushed but nodded.

"Yeah I am sorry about that," he said

JJ just sighed and sat down beside them, she didn't know what to say.

A nurse called first Sam and then a few minutes later Spencer into the doctors, and just two hours later the trio sat in JJ's car driving home.

Spencer's hand had been stitched up and would heal by itself the stitches would dissolved by themselves.

Sam had her ankle tightly wrapped and would have to rest the ankle for a few days, so with other words the couples weekend was already planned for them as in they had to rest.

"JJ," Spencer said as the car stop outside their apartment building "Thanks for the drive."

"You are welcome Spence," JJ said "And please take care of yourselves now, no more ER trips this weekend, please."

Sam and Spencer agree that they would take care and not end up at the ER again.

Later that night when both Sam and Spencer had eaten their dinner and Spencer had been out with Annie, the duo was lying in bed watch some comedy series not really paying too much attention to it both a bit too tired from the pain medicine they had been given for their injuries.

Spencer had just nodded off when he was woken up by Sam phone, she had got a text.

"Who would text you this late?" Spencer asked still with his eyes closed.

"Maddie," was the short answer this made Spencer open one eye looking at Sam who was reading the text with a grin growing more and more the long she read.

"George is out, he was seen drinking his gross smoothie, Jess is out she was chewing gum, and Maddie is out she was ask out by some guy and couldn't say no to soda," Sam told Spencer

"That means it is just you and I left," he said

Sam nodded.

"Should we just call it a draw or?" Spencer asked, he both wanted to call it a draw as he REALLY wanted coffee but then again it would be fun to see who would win of the two of them.

Sam was facing the same dilemma, but then she remembered what the next week was and she groan.

"Draw please," she said "I have exams to grade the week all week, I NEED my tea for that or I will go mad."

"Draw it is or…" he said "We could pause it for now and take it up later."

Sam agree with him as she too wanted to know who of them could last the longest without Coffee or tea.

"I would have won," Sam said placing her phone done beside the bed.

Spencer snorted

"Sure you would," he said smiling

"What was that snort for?" Sam said looking at Spencer with a raised eyebrow "You don't think I would out last you?"

"No, I know you wouldn't last longer than me," Spencer said smirking

"And why not?" she asked

"Because your mom always send you a box of new teas every month," Spencer said "And this month box will arrive sometime next week and you never fail to try them as soon as you get the box. Plus like you said exam grading makes you grumpy without your tea, I remember last time you didn't have your tea, never again."

Sam smiled at that memory that.

"And of the same reason is why you wouldn't out last me," she said and snuggled closer to him "Plus I ask mom to see if she could find some nice coffee too you this time too and not just those cookies you like."

Spencer smiled big and kissed Sam on her head as a thanks, before he yawned big.

"I think it is time for bed for me," he said softly

"Mmm," was the only thing Sam said as she was already half asleep with her arms wrapped round him.

A/N: And so is this one shot over, I hope you like it.

Just a warning I may have some problems with review and stuff like that I hope not but just a small heads up.
