THE GOD'S LEGACY Chapter 4
A/N:- So… who do you want Percy to be paired with? Let me know in the reviews… because I really want to know your ideas… anyway… on with the chapter!
Percy was sitting on a bench in his class, a cup of coffee in his hand and a lit cigarette in the other.
Inhaling three cigarettes and emptying 2 pots of coffee in his stomach in the morning wasn't exactly healthy, but he didn't really fucking care.
He had been early to class, again. A little too early.
He rummaged through his backpack to fetch his phone, as he plugged in the earphones and listened to Michael Jackson.
The rat had told him that he was going to have a separate syllabus from the rest of the classes, and a separate room in itself, with new teachers.
He never really met them.
Until they tried to attack him.
Of course, he thought they were enemies, and tried to kill them, until Nezu came and explained that they were teachers.
A teacher that launches a sneak attack was not exactly a thing that Percy should have been surprised at.
Turns out they were a group of heroes called the pussycats, and the first exclamation that Percy had when he saw them was, "The power rangers are real!"
Soon, the pussycats and Percy had bonded together pretty well, but it took Percy two weeks to open up to them.
He had told Miss Xavier about his entire life, leaving the part of his godly side. They weren't exactly UA staff, so he imagined they didn't need to know.
He told them about how his life had always been full of struggles, how only a few people had quirks, how the few people had begun a camp for people like them, how they had two wars, fought in those, lost friends in those, and also won. He explained how he had had a girlfriend, how they had promised to always stay together, how he had already talked to his dad about buying an entire bungalow for her as her next birthday gift, how he had planned to marry her, how he had planned to take her far away, not wanting their children to grow up in the hateful society they had been in. And then, he explained how, all of that was ripped away from him.
"You know, we always had personal weaknesses according to our heritage," He started. "Want to know what's mine?"
Mandalay nodded.
"Loyalty."
All the people were quiet. Pixie Bob who had been fiddling with a ball of yarn and a screw fell silent, the ball falling to the ground with a thud.
Percy sighed and leaned back into his revolving chair, turning away from the cats.
"Fucking loyalty," He said and a single tear fell down from his eye. "And god knows how much I've wanted that that'd not be the case."
Tiger changed the topic, cutting the uncomfortable silence, owing Percy's gratitude.
That day, they began their classes in the evening.
Soon enough, Percy had become sort of an assistant teacher to most of the teachers, especially All Might.
Their first class was the one where they had gotten their hero costumes, and it was an understatement to say that Percy wasn't surprised by them.
The students' choices were… different.
While he himself was wearing just a blue jacket with a silver trident on the back with a black t-shirt inside that had a silver skull embossed on it with simple black pants and again, combat boots.
The others were peculiar.
One girl was practically naked, Hagakure or something, except for two floating gloves.
Then they had fought some mock battles, some were very sloppy, others were promising.
After that, Aizawa said that they would be choosing a class president or representative and that their would be a voting system for the same.
Of course everyone wanted to become the class rep, well everyone except Percy that is.
But soon after the voting was done, it turned around that Percy in fact had gotten the highest number of votes compared to the rest of the class.
"What the fuck?" Was his only response.
Yaoyorozou had come to a close second, making her the vice president.
Then they were getting lunch with Percy all the time grumbling about betrayal while the others laughed.
Soon, there seemed to be a fake security breach, and panic ensued.
Percy settled the whole thing down, easily.
Turns out it was just a bunch of media reporters that had broken into the school, and no villain was actually there.
He launched himself into the air. "Listen up! There has been no security breach to be scared of! There are a bunch of paparazzi outside and the teachers are taking care of the fucking nose-poking media agents! Stop panicking, turn around and go about your daily business!"
His tone was commanding, and all of the students were forced to obey.
As the students walked back, Yaoyorozou looked up at him and smiled.
He returned the favor.
Percy descended to the ground and looked outside at the reporters slowly withdrawing from their conquest and the doors closed behind them, but not before he made eye contact with a certain peculiar guy with pure red eyes and a grey hand on his face.
Percy thought it was pretty strange but didn't pay any heed to it as the gates closed.
They had a representative-only meeting later that day, and Percy had to skip leg day.
He met up with Kendo there.
"Hey, Fat Hands!" He exclaimed.
"Hey Tall Tree!" Kendo replied enthusiastically and they hugged each other, not the typical greeting.
Yaoyorozou yelped lightly. "You two know each other?"
"Met during the exam, exchanged number, then we've been seeing each other on a regular basis as of now," Percy said.
Momo yelped again.
Soon the rest of the people filed in and Percy tried not to fall asleep. Whenever he did in fact fall asleep, Yaoyorozou would nudge him.
All of the UA teachers were sitting there and Aizawa had introduced their basic roles and responsibilities to all of them.
Soon, the meeting concluded and all of the people exited, except for Percy.
He stood there at the door until all of the people had left except for the staff. Then he closed and locked the door.
"What are you doing, Percy?" Nezu asked, as confused as the rest of the people.
"I need to talk to you guys about something," Percy sighed and sat down. "I don't think I will be able to carry on like this."
"What do you mean, young Percy?" All Might asked, perplexed.
Percy filled himself a cup of coffee. "There's something wrong with me, I'm weakening."
"How?" Power Loader asked, sitting beside him. "You're a god."
"For the umpteenth time, I'm the son of a god, not a total god," Percy explained and ran his hand through his hair. "And that's what's coming into play now. I'm paying the price of having the power of a god, or gods in the body of a mortal."
"So, what's going to happen to you?" Thirteen asked, her arms crossed.
"I'm going to die. I guess? With the power corroding my insides, I'm pretty sure I'm going to die in a year or so. I can't fully use my powers without feeling a sharp pain in my chest. I can't protect the students in case of a villain attack, and I believe we all know that they aren't capable enough to do so themselves."
"So, you're like me?" All Might asked.
"More or Less, yeah."
"That is truly something to ponder about, is there anyway to counteract that?" The principal asked.
Percy solemnly shook his head. "That's why I refuse to get close to those people, they think they're my friends, but I refuse to let them be. I don't want to hurt them. Plus, I always wanted to feel what it was like to die. I have always survived every situation in which I have died. Even the last one before I came here, I was pretty sure I had disintegrated. I have lived for too long."
After that cheerful little chat, Percy exited and went back to his apartment to get some sleep.
The next day, Percy missed his classes with the cats, mostly because they needed to take care of their cousin or nephew or something. He didn't really pay attention.
So, he walked up to class 1-A, opening the large door to the homeroom, just to find Aizawa sitting there, sipping juice.
"You really like that company, huh?" Percy remarked. "Your girlfriend works there?"
"I don't have a girlfriend."
"Nice," Percy said and sat down in front of the pro.
"It's nice that I got to meet you here, I've been meaning to talk to you about something," Aizawa said and threw his finished juice packet. "We're going to the USJ today, the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, for rescue training. We were having three teachers accompany us, but All Might, won't be available at the moment, so we were thinking that maybe you could substitute for him and take care of the water rescue?"
Percy agreed though he was shocked about the amount of responsibility on his shoulders.
"Don't look so surprised kid," Aizawa grumbled. "The kids look up to you, and depending on your experience and power, you could easily pass the hero licensing exam and become a pro hero right here and right now."
Percy didn't have anything to say about that.
-TIME-SKIP-
Percy sighed as he saw Lida trying and failing in getting the students in line.
"ONE BY ONE!" He shouted. "NO PUSHING!"
The demigod himself wasn't standing, as the bus had filled up completely, or so he thought.
There was enough space, but he insisted on standing as all of his instincts were screaming at him to take the kids and run the hell out of the bus.
All the time, he was on high alert, and apparently, that didn't go unnoticed by the other students.
"Hey man, you okay?" Kirishima asked.
Percy managed a weak smile. "Yeah."
"Did you get enough sleep?" Yaoyorozu asked.
Percy sighed. "Yes, Momo, I did, and before anyone asks, I'm okay."
But that was a blatant lie. His white hand that gripped the steel bar so hard that it cracked and his clenched jaw and his hardened eyes begged to say otherwise.
Kirishima changed the topic. "You do know that you're literally overpowered, you know?"
Percy laughed. "Don't worry, maybe they'll kill me off or something so you won't have much competition."
Shoji responded. "What even is your quirk?"
"I call it Olympus," Percy's grip loosened. "After the residence of the Greek gods."
"Why?" Midoriya asked, a notepad in his hands.
"Because, well, my mom used to tell me stories of the Greek gods and heroes. Like, my dad was Greek, he came to new York, did the Hanky Panky with my mom, shared their stories with her and then died. So, my mom used to tell the same stories to me to keep my dad's memory alive."
"That's so sweet!" Mina exclaimed.
"So, there was a certain hero, Perseus, my namesake. While most of the Greek heroes met with really bad ends, died gruesomely, or got betrayed, Perseus was the one who had a happy ending." Percy sighed, a distant faraway look in his eyes. "My mom hoped to provide me with the same happy ending as my namesake."
The atmosphere was silent as a single tear crept it's way down his cheek and fell to the ground with a sound loud enough for the driver to hear.
"Guess that wasn't the case, huh?" Percy laughed bitterly.
The atmosphere grew uncomfortable before Percy broke the silence again.
"So, anyway, as to why my quirk is called 'Olympus'. My mom named it for me. Said that my quirk had the power to rival that of a god, or even multiple gods. Poseidon was the god of the seas, and Hades was the god of the underworld and shadows, and Apollo was the god of the sun and other things. So these were three gods out of twelve, and my mom thought that if the gods were real, and if I was given enough training, I would be able to tear the whole pantheon down just by myself."
"You really are overpowered, dude," Midoriya exclaimed when Percy finished his explanation.
"Yeah, yeah, as long as this much amount of power doesn't kill you, that is."
Percy laughed again, mirthlessly.
They rode in uncomfortable silence thereafter, but thankfully it wasn't long until they reached the site.
USJ was a magnificent facility. The exterior resembled a big dome that reminded him of Kim Kardashian's … well, you know what.
The interior was even more majestic.
There were various environments embedded into that simple piece of concrete. Cracked hills, lush-green forests, broken buildings, a pool of water, a lava hill, and others.
They were soon greeted by Thirteen, who apparently seemed to excite Uraraka a lot.
"Greetings students," The woman astronaut exclaimed. "This facility is to provide you young students with a place to practice your rescue training!"
Percy wasn't listening. Instead, he was looking into the distance, at nothing, but his instincts had torn their throats screaming at him.
There was something wrong here.
Aizawa was barking some orders to the students but Percy tapped him on the shoulder. "They aren't supposed to be here, are they?"
The hero looked at where Percy was pointing and saw a big mass of purple-black energy, men emerging out of it one by one.
"Villains!" Thirteen exclaimed.
"Isn't there some intruder-detection system here?" Percy asked.
"There is, but they must have a quirk that is jamming the signals," Aizawa said. "We probably can't radio for help as well."
"Kaminari!" Percy yelled.
"On it!" Electro said and after a few minutes came up with a thumbs down. "It's not working!"
"Lida! Run to the school and inform them about the happenings here!" Percy barked out orders. "Call for backup!"
The young hero wanted to say something but was shut up by Percy's glare as he turned around made a run for it.
"We'll need to fight," Aizawa muttered as he got into a fighter's stance. "Thirteen, protect the students, Jackson, with me!"
Then, together, they dashed.
A/N:- So, that was it! Hope you liked it! The next chapter will be, at the most next weekend, and it will contain the USJ attack details, and something bad is going to happen in it! Anyway, have a nice day! Bye!
